Flashback part 12:

I reached forward and wrapped my hands firmly around the scroll that Minato Sensei offered, doing a deep bow.

If I wanted to avenge my dead family members, I would have to get stronger.

And so everything else that would hinder my progress is unnecessary and therefore should be ignored.

I clenched my fists tightly around the paper, creases starting to show.

I felt the sudden drive to do my best, and not get set back by the distractions that have started to cause my slow progress, and that meant forgoing friendships and forging bonds with others.

The only way forward, would be to break them, which I obviously did not wish for.

I was beginning to like them. Yes, "them" refers to Obito, Minato sensei, Rin and Kakashi.

So, just maybe once, I'll begin to allow myself to indulge in the slightest bit of what the joy of bonds and friendship feels like, and possibly forget the great burden my Grandmother has left with me...

Even if it was just for a while.

"Sarutobi Sama. I've brought my team here. "

Minato sensei knelt on the floor, with a knee down and the other up, displaying all due respect to the current Hokage.

Rin, Obito, Kakashi and I were standing in attention slightly behind Minato Sensei, awaiting our next orders.

" Ah, Minato. "

Sarutobi-Sama blew out a puff of white smoke, as he inhaled deeply the next.

His gaze shifted as he scanned the tinier, 4 figures standing timidly at the back of the room, before he sighed.

" Genko"

A male Anbu at the right end of the room perked his head upon hearing his name and in a flash, he appeared right in front of the Hokage, kneeling on one knee.

Upon further inspection, the smaller figures at the back observed that whatever bare skin left that was uncovered by the anbu uniform was scarred dark red--- almost black from the possibly mindblowing and horrific experiences he had went through in the past.

It gave the 4 of them chills down their spines as they tried to avert their gazes, afraid the anbu would feel uncomfortable by their piercing stares.

" Could you help to bring the 4 kids outside to wait while I speak with Minato? Bring them back when I give the signal. "

Sarutobi took another puff and glanced back to the patiently waiting Minato Sensei as Genko's eerie gaze shifted to the now shivering four.
