Flashback part 18

We were all speeding past the trees, in formation, Kakashi, our (suckass) captain in front and the three of us behind, with Rin in the middle since she was our team's medical ninja.

Without any hint, Kakashi came to a sudden halt, causing the three of us to screech to a stop, with Obito hitting his face right into a tree because he was unable to throw his momentum away at the last second.

I questioningly cast a glance at our captain whose eyes were glued to our North East direction, his being was still as a rock.

He was attentively listening for any signs of movement and so I didn't bring up his lack-of-captain-quality act earlier when he had not warned us of his suspicions and simply came to a halt.

" Duck! "

Kakashi finally yelled as we crouched towards the ground, barely avoiding a huge katana that swept past where our heads were before being lodged into a tree behind us all.

I did a double flip, landing far enough to judge what was going on.

I searched the ground for our captain but he was nowhere in sight.

Obito was barely grasping what was happening as he instinctively ran toward Rin who was trying to get up.

It seemed like she had been scraped by the forceful landing she had attempted from that height.

I noticed a slight jerk from the lodged katana and quickly, in a swift motion, brought my own kunai out of my pouch, anticipating an attack.

The Katana forcefully broke free from the tree as if on its own will and turned to point toward the off guard pair.

Shit!

I cursed as I saw the katana flying at high speed, aiming for the unsuspecting Obito and Rin.

Please make it in time! Goddammitt!

I pumped chakra instantly towards the balls of my feet and kicked off where I was as hard as I could toward the pair, praying that I would be able to make it in time.

* CLInk!*

I looked up from where I was, silently praying hard.

The katana was midair, inches from my bare face.

The only thing that was holding it back was my kunai which I managed to shove in front of me seconds before the katana could reach us.

"Wake up you silly asses! You're in the middle of a battlefield ! "

I gritted my teeth and shouted at the still, in shock pair.

Obito awoken from his daze and quickly pulled the slightly injured Rin, to stand, looping her arm over his shoulder so he could take some weight.

" Got it, gomen kasumi! "

Obito smiled before leaping up to a tree branch where he rested Rin against its bark.

The weight of the Katana was overwhelming and seeing that everything was now alright, I leaped aside quickly, as the katana, now flew right into the ground and lodged itself 2 feet within.

" Osunage Kashin! "

I exclaimed, feeling the surge of chakra as I scanned the arena for our captain. From afar, I, however, noticed something even more disturbing.

There was a mass of chakra wielders closing in towards us within a 10 metre radius.

This is not going to be good.
