As soon I returned back home from the vacation fiasco, my parents greeted me with hugs and tears. They forced me to stay home so I could properly recover and even closed the bakery for a few days so they could watch over me, much to my protests. After a week staying home and recovering from pneumonia and shaking off the last bit of hypothermia, I returned back to school where the Host Club customers in my class greeted me with tears. Apparently, some crazy rumors got spread around, some strange ones including that the reason I got lost was because I had an hallucination and followed someone until I got lost and others going as far as I was dead.
I returned to the Host Club without any trouble at all. Hikaru tried taking any blame that was thrown at me from what had happened but Kyoya and Tamaki didn't want to hear any of it. They understood that it was an accident and forgave me for all the gray hairs I gave them. Haruhi was especially glad that I was okay, hugging me in front of everyone, causing the girls at our table to gush at how romantic she was being.
Once our session was over, Haruhi insisted on walking me back to my bike, despite my protests. As we walked through the school, my heart was hammering within my chest. There were certain words I wanted to say to her, yell at her, scream at her, but I bit my tongue. I tend to get nervous whenever I'm around the person whom I'm in love with and my mouth runs on autopilot. That's how Yuna found out my feelings for her.
As Haruhi reached my bike, she bidder me goodbye. "Wait, Haruhi!" I said without thinking.
"Hm?" She turned around to face me.
A deep blush ran across my cheeks and I was tempted to clasp my hands cover my mouth to tell her it was nothing, that I had forgotten what I was going to say, but I held my tongue. My heart beated even faster when she looked at me, as it was only the two of us and she wasn't looking at me to give me an empty flirt like with the other girls.
I couldn't take it anymore. My heart couldn't take it anymore. My brain couldn't take it anymore.
My mouth moved without any instruction from my brain. It was like it detached itself from my face and moved on its own, saying the words that I held back for forever.
"Haruhi, I love you," my mouth spoke.
Haruhi gasped lightly, blushing, taken aback by my words. I immediately clasped my hands over my mouth as I quickly clipped on my helmet. "I-I'm s-sorry!" I stammered. "Forget what I have said! It must of been so inappropriate for me to say that, as you're a Host and can't really date anyone! I-I'll leave right now--"
"Mayuri wait!" Haruhi yanked me back by my shoulder and I yelped as she spun me around and placed both hands on my shoulders, my helmet sitting lopsided on my head. She stared into my eyes, blushing as well. "I...I feel the same about you," she replied.
I thought I had been dreaming. I blinked, stunned, staring with a confused look at Haruhi. "...what?" I spoke.
"I'll say it again," Haruhi took my hands into hers and held it up. "I feel the same about you."
"...are you serious?" I asked, laughing dryly.
"I'm serious," Haruhi nodded before laughing a bit.
"Oh...oh wow...." I blinked, flushed as my body began to heat up, everything feeling warm, not just my face. "I'd...never thought you'd say that to me."
"Well...I just did," Haruhi laughed.
"Oooookay then," I pulled my hands out of hers and placed them underneath my chin, thinking awkwardly of what to say next. "....wanna go out?" I finally managed to spit out.
"Oh a date? Sure," Haruhi nodded.
"G-Great!" I yelled happily, a bit too loudly. "Um...can I have your number so we can talk about what to do on our date?" I asked. I'm going way too fast in this relationship. I wouldn't be surprised if we went on our date later.
"Actually," Haruhi laughed nervously. "I don't have a fun. But, I can give you the phone number in my apartment so you can call and we can talk about what to do on our date."
"Oh..." I blindly handed Haruhi my phone as she put the number into my phone and handed it back to me.
"I'll...guess I go then," Haruhi waved goodbye to me as she turned to leave.
"Bye!" I giggled like a ditz as I waved goodbye at her before staring at the magic number in my phone underneath her name. I...felt like I was on Cloud Nine again. I thought I would never feel like this again. This...is the first time I actually feel inside me any genuine emotion. And it's the best feeling in the world.
