Five:

"It's really peaceful out here tonight." Sara said, looking out at the water. She sat on a long board outside the cabin, facing the firepit completely. She saw the orange reflection of the fire glow on the glass waters. The moon was rising across the tree-tops in the distance on the far shore of the lake. "I agree." Andie said. Sara kept looking at the lake, leaning on Andie's shoulder. She and Andie held hands on the bench directly facing the flames. The warmth of the fire kept both of them comfortable. Andie had his eyes closed, letting the warmth of the fire settle on his light coat. He smiled and put his head on Sara's. She smiled and gripped his hand harder. The only sounds he could hear were his own breathing and the fire. The rest of the night was perfectly silent. Andie jumped in his seat at the sound of a twig that suddenly broke behind him. He turned around and searched for the source of the sound. He saw a shadow about halfway between him and the cabin. He gasped a little. Sara leaned up and looked at Andie. "What is it?" She asked. "Hey Andie." The figure said. They approached slowly and took long strides in between. Her face became visible in a creepy orange light. "Oh it's you, Emma." Andie said. "Take a seat." He said. She walked around the long bench he and Sara were sitting on and slid next to Andie. "How's your night?" Sara asked Emma. "Good." Emma replied. "It's nice that I at least know you two." "Ha. I bet Adin's friends are giving you some funny looks." Andie said, looking at Emma. "When they start staring, I usually find JT and stand behind him." Emma said with a giggle. "Yeah, I wouldn't want to mess with the Varsity Linebacker either." Andie said. "Hey, but you at least took Karate." Sara reminded Andie. "Yeah, for one year. I quit after I found I sucked majorly." Andie replied to Sara. She leaned forward and laughed. Her laughed faded into the crackling of the fire. "I'm so jealous of you two." Emma said. "I don't mean to be a third wheel or anything, but you two are just too perfect." "Thank you, Emma." Sara replied. She grabbed Andie's hand and leaned close to him. Their lips met almost perfectly. The warmth of the fire felt good on Sara's face. They pulled apart and stared at each other. Sara smiled and looked at Emma. She turned away from Andie and Sara awkwardly. Emma stared at the side of the cabin. From a small tree-line on the cabin's east side, a figure crouched closer to the ground a little more. They dared not breathe because it might draw attention to where they were hiding. They still stared at Emma, Sara, and Andie. Emma turned, now looking over by the lake. It was safe to breathe again. They then picked up their binoculars slowly and tried to adjust to spy on the three. They couldn't get a good visual on them, so they gave up. They slid the binoculars off their neck and into the carrying case. Looking with their naked eye was impossible through the small branches of the tree-line and the glow of the fire. All they could make out from there was three figures, sitting by the fire. They exhaled quietly. Suddenly, a shadow moved across a window near them. They were excited by it- they knew exactly what that shadow meant. It was go time; they grabbed the binocular case and began to sneak across the trees and through the shadows. They were extra careful to watch the ground for any sticks of leaves that might indicate that they were watching the three by the fire. Hugging the side of the cabin, the figure came down the edge of it and around the corner. The white of the cabin contrasted the black and grey clothes they had choose to wear to spy and do their dirty work. The veranda was in reach. They grabbed the railing and pulled themselves up to the elevated porch. They slid one leg at a time over the railing and landed softly on the concrete. They approached the front door and froze. From inside the cabin, Adin stood in the foyer. He held his piece of paper and looked around. He had become strangely puzzled at the request he had just been given. He cocked his head at a noise he saw coming from a door. Before he could put anymore thought to it, a figure opened the door and swooped in. It all happened so fast - the figure swiped something at his stomach. He grabbed his side and began to bend his knees. He felt a sharp pain shoot through his nerves and vains. The figure came at him with something else and struck him in the face. Unable to resist, Adin fell like a rag doll to the floor. His vision became blurred. The feeling of a liquid in his hand on his stomach became undeniable and overwhelming. A figure stood over him in a dark, midnight black ski mask. He tried to speak to the figure but couldn't. His lip shook and his head fell slowly to the floor. He let out with his last breath and parted. The masked figure took in the sight of Adin and smiled evilly. "One bastard gone, the others to follow." They said. They looked up and heard someone coming from the Billiards room. They quickly disposed of their instrument and vanished behind a door. The room got strangely quiet for a second - movement could be heard all around the cabin. A few moments later, the footsteps came back and entered the foyer. It was Jeanette. She turned the corner and entered the foyer. "Adin, are you-" She spoke, and then saw Adin. Her mouth fell open and her phone dropped to the floor. She stood their for a second to take in the sight of Adin's body. "Adin." She whispered with a quivering lip. "Adin!"
