Three:
Later that day, Sara and Andie found themselves at lunch. Most everyone had gathered at the dining room table, which was adjoined to the Billiards room to the east. The table was long enough to hold eighteen, including the ends of the table. Before Adin disappeared, he sat at the head of the table like a King. And he eat like one too - he helped himself plenty to his dish served that fateful evening. Sara caught herself staring into that spot, which was empty out of respect for Adin. She felt like most of her friends had given up of the hope that Adin might still be alive. Heck, so doubted it too. But the idea tugged at her like her 3-year old niece would. "Sara?" Andie said softly to her. Sara shook her head and looked at Andie. "Is there anything wrong?" He asked. "No." She replied. "I'm just thinking." "Okay." Andie leaned back in his wooden seat and continued to eat his sandwich. People started to leave as they finished their meals. Andie watched specifically Brock, Taylor, Michael, and Randy all leave together. He pondered the idea of all of them leaving together - it seemed suspicious. But he knew he had to interrogate Wyatt first before he could get his hands on Brock. He was anxious to interview Brock - eternally, Andie was fixed on the idea that Brock somehow had something to do with Adin's murder. Based on Brock's behavior and what Taylor said about him, Andie felt there was no need for an interview - Brock was guilty. Andie decided to focus more on his lunch and took the last bite of his sandwich. He swallowed it and looked up across the table. Wyatt and Logan sat next to one another, directly across from Andie and Sara. The two didn't acknowledge each other one bit. They seemed almost angry at each other - why would they sit together if they are mad at one another? "Wyatt." Sara said, interrupting Andie's thoughts. "Is this a good time to carry out some questions?" Andie cleared himself of his thoughts and looked to Wyatt. "Um, sure." Wyatt replied. He looked to Logan. Sara did also. "If you will excuse us, Logan." Sara said respectfully to Logan. "Of course." Logan replied, taking her plate and standing up. She exited the too and found the kitchen to wash her dishes. "Alright, Wyatt." Sara said, reaching into a side-bag she had brought with her to lunch. She slapped her notebook and pen on the tablecloth and looked up at Wyatt. "Tell me what happened." Wyatt leaned back in his seat and sighed. "I guess I'll start right after dinner." Sara began to take notes. "I went up to my room with Logan. We talked for a bit about normal stuff; she said she wanted to go on a jet-ski ride in the morning with me. I agreed, but I wasn't too thrilled about it. I haven't driven a jet-ski before, and I sure don't wanna try for the first time with my girlfriend. Anyway, I grabbed a book and started to read - I think it was Hatchet or something. Logan left for a bit to talk to someone down the hall - I think it was Jeanette or something. I picked up a book on a shelf and read for about thirty minutes. Logan didn't come back the whole time - I didn't really notice because I kind of got lost in my book. In the middle of a lull in the book, Carmen entered my room. I turned to look out and saw Carmen standing on the lawn, waving. I opened my window and said 'Hey Carmen. Do you need something?' 'Come here. I wanna tell you something.' Carmen replied. She turned out the door and into the hall without even waiting for me. I put my book down and followed her. She led me down the hall, where I didn't see Logan whatsoever. She walked downstairs and turned toward the Billiards room. I continued to follow her into the Billiards room, past the pool and coffee table. I got a weird look from Michael and Adin, who were setting up the speakers next to the fireplace. In front of me was a door that led to the back deck. 'Let's go.' Carmen said to me. We walked together out the cabin and closed the door. 'Do you wanna smoke a few?' Carmen then offered me. She waved a cigarette in my face. In her other hand she held a pack. Now, I'm not proud of this next part, but I took the cigarette-" "What?!" Andie exclaimed at Wyatt. "You smoke?" Sara questioned immediately after. "I swear I haven't before-" Wyatt tried. "Wyatt..." Andie shook his head. Sara sighed. "Alright, that's a bit of a shock, but continue Wyatt." Sara said to Wyatt. "So, I took the cigarette and she lit it for me. I won't get into to deep detail, but I actually had a good time. I smoked two cigarettes and she smoked I think four. We did our best to keep quiet and unnoticed, but I couldn't help the feeling of someone watching us. I don't know. My memory starts to get faded after that, but we had enough after a while and threw our buds into a potted plant on the deck. I noticed my vision and hand-eye coordination were lacking a bit, but it didn't really bother me. I followed Carmen back inside and through the Billiards room. Michael and Adin were still in the room, this time loading a recliner from the lounge room into the corner. They didn't really give Carmen and I much attention as we headed through the room and back up the stairs. Once upstairs, Carmen turned to me. 'Shush, honey. That's if you can.' She walked into her room and closed the door on me. I went down the hall and found myself in my room. I found some decent clothes to wear to party and was almost ready to leave. Before I could walk out, Logan walked in on me. 'Whoa, hi.' She said, looking up at me. 'Do you want me to wait for you?' I asked her. 'Of course!' She replied. So I sat through a good 30 minutes of her trying on outfits and tops. She didn't really need any of my fashion critiques, so I just picked up the book I was reading earlier and continued to read. She finally decided on one outfit and turned to me. 'You look nice.' I said to her. 'No kidding. I just spent like 30 minutes putting this shit together.' I remember trying to be as smooth and as normal as possible - if Logan figures out I smoke, she'd break up with me. Anyway, Logan walked out of the room, telling me 'she'd meet me at the stairs.' I grabbed a bottle of cologne and spritzed some on. I set the bottle down and exited the room. After that I talked to Emma for a bit, kind of ditching Logan. I wasn't thinking very straight I guess. I can assume Taylor told you two she saw me, which that did happen. I guess Logan and I went into the Billiards room and danced for a bit until Adin left and..." Wyatt looked down in despair. "That's all?" Sara asked Wyatt, looking up from her filled notebook. "Yep." Wyatt replied. Sara finished some side notes she had made on her notebook page. A temporary silence fell over the three. "Quick question-" Andie said to Wyatt. Wyatt looked up at Andie and nodded. "Did you, by any chance, leave the Billiards room even once during the party in there?" "Yes." Wyatt replied. "Logan, Carmen, and I went out on the deck and talked for a bit. Talking inside was too difficult." "Interesting." Andie nodded to Andie. He turned away and started pacing, trying to think of something else to ask Wyatt. "Alright Wyatt, thank you for your help." Sara said to Wyatt. "No problem." Wyatt replied. Sara stood up from her seat and grabbed her bag. Wyatt took his plate and walked into the kitchen. Sara looked at Andie. "Alright, let's find Brock." She said. The two took to the hall and began looking for Brock. Almost as if they could communicate telepathically, Sara and Andie both turned right at the intersecting hall. They went past their own bedroom and found Michael's. The door was slightly open, revealing light from inside. Sara peeked her head into the room and scanned it for people. Taylor and Brock were both seen on the floor, playing a board game. Taylor, who faced the door, noticed Sara first. She jumped back a bit and gasped. She took a second look at Sara and realized who she was. "Oh it's you." She said to Sara. Brock turned to Sara, still peaking in. "Brock, if you will come with us, your interview can begin." Sara said, gesturing to the hall. Sara pushed the door open so not just her head, neck, and right shoulder could be seen. Brock stood up and looked to Sara. Andie began first in the hall back down it. Sara followed, and eventually did Brock. Before he left his room completely, he turned back to Taylor. "Like we planned." Taylor said to Brock. He nodded and left his room.
