Three:
Andie pushed on his door with a great deal of anger and desperation. "Andie, it's no use. We've both tried for two days now." It was now day ten, and Sara and Andie had become restless in their room. "I want out!" Andie kicked the door again. "There's no use getting angry. He's not going to let us out easy, maybe even at all until the planes come back." "That's another four days away! I can't wait that long!" Andie had begun to yell. "Get me out!" Andie put his fists and head on the wall. "Andie, you're gonna get us in more trouble if you keep-" "What do I care? Huh? This whole thing is stupid! Why do we need a 'leader?' We are almost mature adults - at least most of us are - and we should be able to handle ourselves!" Andie took his head off the wall. "Why can't anyone see that? This isn't The Lord of the Flies or any other stupid survival novel. This is real, and our experience should be able to guide us through the next few days-" "What are you trying to say?" Sara cut him off. "I'm trying to say that Michael is a dumbass for doing this to us." Andie cut through the chase. "What good is yelling at me going to do to get us out? Nothing. So all we can do is wait for our next meal, and hope that Michael will take mercy upon us. That's all we can do." Sara said. Andie sighed and came to the side of their bed. "I'm sorry for yelling, it's just-" "I know, baby. I know how you feel. It's going to be okay." Sara and Andie sat very close together. They leaned into a kiss, letting their thoughts and emotions empower the sweet embrace like sweet tea on a hot summer day. Their hands found each other, and took their bodies to the bed itself. Their kiss parted, and their faces stared up at the patterned ceiling. Sara sighed. "You know, I have been thinking about something." She said. "What is it?" Andie inquired. "Remember how we had that map of the island?" Sara asked. "Yeah, why?" "I think we missed a few spots where his body could be." Andie turned his head over to hers. "Sara, his body is long-gone. We had our chance-" "We didn't comb the east side of the island-" "This is the east side, Sara. The only place over here that someone could potentially stash a body AND that we haven't checked is the northeast corner of the island. And I don't remember what the terrain looks like over there." "Let me check." Sara leaned out of bed and looked around the room for her nap sack she had brought with her the day of the hike. She went over to her suitcase, which was tucked neatly in the corner of the room by the window. Walking by the window, she saw the tall oak that stood guard to the cabin. It had always been there, tapping on her window during the windy afternoons and evenings. She ruffled through her clothes, hoping to find her pink and black sack. Through her entire suitcase, Sara didn't find it. "Shoot." She said to herself. "What is it?" Andie asked, hearing Sara's remark. "I left it in the library I think." Sara shook her head. "You're kidding. Now we can't find out what the northeast corner looks like." Andie paused. "Wait, why do you need to see the northeast corner again?" "Because! If we can somehow go over there and look through the last unchartered place on this island, we might find Adin." "Yeah, and so?" Andie shrugged. "You don't get my train of thought, do you?" Andie shook his head. "If we find his body, we have undeniable proof that he was murdered and that he was carried off into the woods. We can prove Brock and Taylor guilty." Sara paused. "You know I don't think they did it anymore, right?" Andie asked Sara. "What?!" She gasped. "I thought we had an agreement-" "I'm sorry, babe. I am just more sure about someone else." "Who is it?" Sara inquired. "Michael." Andie said. The two stared at each other for a moment. "Once we find his body, we can assess it from there. For right now, I need that map." Sara stated. "Well, how do you propose we get that map? We're kind of stuck in here." Andie asked. Sara looked down at the floor and thought for a few moments. "Break the doorframe." Sara said. She looked up at Andie. "Quietly, but break the door frame. That's what holding the door shut." "And what do we do after that?" Andie inquired yet again. "When everyone's distracted, we can sneak out and grab it." Sara said. Andie nodded in agreement. "Sounds good." He approved. Andie got up from the bed and went to the door. He put his hands around the door knob and began to pull and push violently on the door. Sara sat down on the bed and picked up her journal. She began to write.
