Four:
Dawn greeted Sara and Andie in their bedroom. Their sheets were relatively straight for the amount of tossing and turning they both did the previous night. Andie awoke first, blinking his eyes open. At first, the morning felt good, but it proceeded to impair his vision. He turned his head to his partner, Sara, who still slept silently. Andie looked at the ceiling and studied it. The drywall created patterns on the ceiling. He tried to make sense with his mind. He found a few smiley faces, letters, even what looked like to be an outline of a pig. The childish thoughts made him smile - but then with the smile reminded him of the seriousness of the situation around him. He looked out the window, hoping maybe to see Adin. He imagined he'd be standing there, waving and smiling. Just like he would in the Homecoming Parade. Even though Andie and Adin barely talked ever at school, he still admired his star status at school as the star Quarterback. He knew girls all around the school fell for him at some point or another. The thought makes him smile - he wished he'd be admired like Adin. He turned in his bed to Sara, who still slept. He wondered what she might be dreaming about; was she dreaming of him? He hoped she was - he dreamt about her. He loved her so much; he knew he had to keep her safe from whoever killed Adin. He didn't want to think about that. As long as he was in bed with Sara with a closed door, they were safe. Andie turned to the door and examined it. It had grooves in it - like little canyons and valleys. The white on the door made him think of the moon; it was dreamy, even a little hypnotizing. He still stared at the door, looking at all the patterns in it. Without any warning, the door handle began to turn. The air felt like it was sucked out of the room. Andie rested his head on his pillow in fear. He closed his eyes and pretended to sleep. He still listened to the sound of the doorknob still being turned - the door creaked open slightly. The person at the door was quiet - almost like the door was opening itself. Andie listened so closely to try to detect even the slightest audible sound. "They're asleep. Go ahead." A voice said. It was male. Andie wondered silently who the voice was. He couldn't put a label on it, but he knew it was someone he met here on the island. Andie decided a few moments later it was safe to open his eyes. He opened his eyes one at a time - he saw the door still opened. No one stood there. Andie sighed at his disappoint. Sara began to stir next to him. She leaned up and yawned. "Andie." She whispered, tapping him on the shoulder. Andie turned to her and looked up at her. Her red hair was an absolute mess - her retainer was still in too. "Who was at the door?" She asked in a sleepy voice. "I don't know." Andie replied. "Let's check it out." Sara threw her legs over the side of her bed and stood. Andie stood as well. In her pink-checkered pajama pants and grey tanktop, she began for the door. Andie followed her in his blue pajama pants and shirtless. Sara peeked out her own room and into the hall; she saw no one. She proceeded out the door with Andie. The two walked down their hall to the lounge room. They both heard movement in the foyer. Sara stopped and placed her hand in front of Andie. "There's someone in the foyer." She whispered. She lowered her arm and continued onward. She passed by the hall that connects the present hall with the Billiards room. She and Andie both looked down it and found no one. Cups from last night still rested upon the pool table in the Billiards room. The cabin was all quiet except the footsteps Sara and Andie took. Someone in the foyer noticed their footsteps. They scrambled around the foyer and tried to hide something. Sara was concerned by this and she started to run. She slid into the foyer and saw Taylor. "Taylor." She said. Andie came up behind Sara and saw Taylor. "What are you doing?" Sara said, pointing to Taylor's hand. In her hand, she gripped a bloody cloth. Taylor looked down at it and back up to Sara. "I swear, this isn't what it looks like." She said in a dreadful tone. Taylor leaned to her left a bit and winked. Andie turned around and saw someone standing at the entrance of the lounge room. Just like last night, Brock hugged the door to the lounge room and was looking at Taylor. "What the hell are you doing?" Andie said loudly to Brock. He turned and looked at Andie. His eyes became wide. "Taylor," Sara began, looking at the clean floor. "What were up you doing with that rag?" "I was cleaning up this blood-" She tried. Andie had turned back to Taylor and interrupted her. "No you weren't." He said. "You were erasing the evidence." Brock then tried to sneak back into the hall. Andie noticed and began to run after Brock. Brock ran very fast down the hall, but Andie was quicker. Andie grabbed Brock just before he could reach his room. Andie spun Brock around and pressed him against a picture window at the end of the hall. "You are going to tell me exactly why you peeked in my room, why you are sneaking around with Taylor-" "Andie, stop! Bring him back here." Sara said from the foyer, waving him back. Andie grabbed Brock by the wrists and turned. Brock jerked back and managed to get an arm free. He tried to grab things on the walls to stop Andie, but Andie was clearly stronger. Brock began to punch Andie in the shoulder. Andie did not react the first three blows, but on the fourth he used his arm he held Brock's hand in and elbowed him in the gut. Andie stopped walking and allowed Brock to double-over in pain. Andie then kept pulling Brock to the foyer. Andie arrived at the foyer with Brock, who stopped resisting by that point. Andie presented Brock to Sara and shoved him into the foyer. "Alright you two." Andie said in a furious tone. "Explain yourselves. And don't lie this time." "We weren't lying the first time." Brock corrected Andie. "Shut up." Andie said. "Explain." Taylor sighed and looked to Brock. Brock nodded and they both looked back at Andie and Sara. "We were cleaning-" "Wait." Sara stopped Taylor. "I'm getting a notebook to write this down." Sh turned to Andie. "I'll be back in just a second." She quickly exited the foyer and jogged down the hall. Andie watched Sara until she disappeared from view. He turned back to Taylor and Brock and approached them. "I have no idea what really happened, but I know this-" Andie stepped toward them. "You two know what happened. I don't care how innocent you say you are. All I care about is keeping Sara safe, and if you two are gonna complicate that, you're gonna have to kill me first." Andie had backed down of them to the wall by that point. Both of them had sheer terror on their faces. "Andie." Sara said from behind him. He turned with a nicer face. "What are you doing to them?" She asked in a soft, concerned tone. "Setting the record straight." Andie replied, walking away from them both. He went to Sara's side and faced the guilty two once more. "I guess we get to investigate." Sara told Taylor and Brock. "I don't think so." A voice said behind her.
