Five:
Sara entered the library in a haste. She tightly gripped her notebook and bag on her right side; she looked up and saw Andie standing in front of a bookshelf. In a leather chair next to the bay window, Jeanette sat, looking at Andie. JT stood by the door; Sara almost slammed the door into him by accident. She caught the door just before it hit him. "Sorry." She said to JT, tucking some of her hair behind her ear. "No problem," JT started. "but I am just curious to know why Andie had to drag Jeanette and myself in here. I mean, I know you wanna get answers out of me-" "That's exactly what we are going to do." Sara interrupted JT. "I just wanted you all in here now so we don't have anything funny happen." "What funny stuff?" Jeanette asked Sara, scooting closer in her seat to Sara. "Um.. It's not very important." Sara answered. "Let's just say we don't want testimony getting tampered with." "What is that supposed to mean-" JT tried. "Let's get this interview over with." Sara interrupted JT again. He sighed, frustrated. "Okay." He said. "So am I first?" "In fact," Sara looked at her notebook. "yes you are." She looked up at Jeanette. "If you don't mind going with Andie going into the hall and chilling until we are done with JT-" "Wait, I thought I was a co-detective with you, Sara." Andie said to Sara. "The way you are conducting this isn't very fair." "Sorry babe." Sara replied. She walked up to him and hugged him. She leaned her head on his shoulder. "Please? You can listen and help with Jeanette's interview." "So you don't trust me?" Jeanette said to Sara, now standing. Sara saw Jeanette and hesitated. "I thought we were friends. I thought you could trust me enough to wait in the hall by myself, but apparently you can't-" "It's a combination of a lot of things." Sara silenced Jeanette. "I don't want others to influence what you say to me." "Like who?" She questioned. Andie released Sara from their hug and looked at Jeanette. "How about we go in the foyer and just except this?" He suggested. "We are wasting time." Jeanette sighed and rolled her eyes. "Let's go." Jeanette said, holding her hand out to Jeanette. Andie walked away from Sara and grabbed Jeanette's hand. Both Sara and JT watched Andie and Jeanette walk out in hand-in-hand. Andie closed the door with his free hand and let the sound of the door echo throughout the library. After a few seconds of silence, Sara looked at JT. "Alright, take a seat and we can begin." JT walked over to the leather chair by the three windows and sat down. He looked to Sara. She leaned on a wall across the room from him. JT waited for Sara to speak. "Okay, just for clarification - you weren't not at the party at all?" "That is correct." JT replied. "And..." Sara looked down at her notes. "Where were you during the party?" JT sighed. "Can I just give you a rundown of what happened?" "Sure." Sara replied. JT took a breath and began. "So right after dinner I made a point to avoid everyone. Small and stupid parties are not my thing. I mean I respect Adin, just the party seemed pointless unless there were more than 30 people. I guess I decided in the end to ditch and stay in my room. I don't remember if I told you this or not, but I get to room alone in the only private space left in this cabin - Adin's dad's den. The room's not terribly large, but it holds a couch, which doubles as my bed; a large wooden desk, a recliner, a lamp and creepy animal heads on the walls were all in there too. About 30 minutes or so before the party, I got bored, so I decided to make a paper model of a car I worked on this summer. I started cutting and folding like crazy. I was getting glue all over my fingers, so I pulled out some gloves I had in my bag and slip them on. I got so into making the model car that I really never noticed he party starting at an exact time. And even with the thumping of the speakers I still faded it out as white noise. About 45 minutes into the notable party the music stopped and I heard a voice calling for someone upstairs from downstairs. I rushed out of the den to see if anything was wrong. That's when I saw Michael and Randy, and yep." JT finished with a yawn. "I can show you the paper car model if you like." He offered Sara after his yawn. "That won't be necessary." Sara replied. "Although," she continued, looking down at her notes. "there's a question I still have for you." "What is it?" JT asked. "Did you see anyone at all walk by your room during the party at all?" Sara asked. "Actually, that's kind of a coincidence you ask me that." JT started. "You see, I thought a shadow go by the den during the party. I looked in the doorway from my seat at the desk and saw no one. I'm not sure if I imagined it, but still, it's weird a shadow would walk by the den in the first place." "Yeah, it is." Sara agreed while taking notes quickly on JT's words. She finished writing and looked up. "Is that all?" JT asked. "Yes. You are free to leave." Sara gestured at the exit Jeanette and Andie were waiting outside of. "Alrighty." JT stood up and approached the exit. Before he reached to open the door, he turned back to Sara. She was much closer to him now than the interview. "One more thing-" He began. "Find out who killed him." Sara nodded to him. Before he even saw the nod he turned and opened the door. He stepped out into the foyer and shut the door.
