Four:

"Um, I guess I'm next." Sara said, standing up. She sat at the end of the right in the second row, next to Andie. She went around Logan, who sat in front of her and approached the podium. Logan winked as Sara took her spot on the podium. Sara silently thanked Logan for the fashion advice; Logan had helped her choose a red-rose gown she intended on wearing the night of the final party. Logan had lent her some black heels she had taken, just in case one of the parties planned was going to be formal. "Those parties will never happen," she thought. The thought saddened Sara a little. She caught herself staring out into space and shook her head. Sara realized she was in front of her friends, and she had to give her speech. She took a breath and drew her papers to the podium. She pulled out her final speech and looked at her friends. "Hello, everyone." Sara began. The crowd was quiet. "I know that what has happened here has affected all of us in different ways. Personally, I was terrified. I have never had a close friend pass before, let alone be murdered... On the subject of friends, please know I feel all of you are my friends. I hate none of you, and I don't think any of you are psychotic murderers. I don't like to guess which one of you did it, because I know you all are good people to the core. As I have dug my way into the investigation, I have tried to be as strong, subjective, and steady as I can. And with the role of investigator, I have gained leadership. A few of you do not agree with my govern, and I respect your opinion. I'd rather give everyone a fair chance to rule us better, and if there is a more fit candidate than me to run for leader. If you feel I am still fit enough to led, please re-elect me as your island leader. I promise you will not regret electing me - holding my morals close, and all of your well-being is always at the top of my list. You shall all have a voice under my leadership, and no one will be forgotten. Please, even if I'm not elected leader, approach me with an idea. Hopefully, with the permission of the other candidates, I can pass your idea onto them for judgement." Sara looked at Michael, then Jeanette. "Will you both support my idea?" She asked. "Yes. I support your idea." Jeanette replied to Sara. Michael chuckled. "Yeah, I don't think so." Michael said to Sara. "Excuse me?" Sara questioned him. "Why not-" "You're just trying to maintain your leader status. I don't need a representative to let the people speak to me." He leaned forward and spoke to the crowd. "Besides, she'll probably taint and twist your words in her favor." "That's not the intent at all-" Sara shook her head at Michael. "Oh course it is. If you weren't leader, well, you might just shrivel up and die! You LIVE to boss us around, and you don't know any different." Michael leaned back in his seat. "Anyway, continue your speech. While you can still speak to all of us-" "Michael, shut up." Andie stood up. "You are seriously pissing me off. You are being an incredible bitch right now. You can leave if you want." "Nah, I think I'm good." Michael replied in a smart-alack tone. "Um, you two, can I finish my speech? I mean, you two can take this somewhere else." Sara looked at her boyfriend and Michael. Michael rolled his eyes. "I said you could continue." He said. "Okay." Sara nodded. The crowd lay restless now; a common whisper became white noise as Sara began with her speech again. "Well, since my idea of being a messenger is out the window, I really don't have an alternate suggestion." She sighed. "I... I want to maintain leadership. I believe that what I am doing is justifiable in every way, and that will only continue. Of course, if you believe change needs to be made, you shall be heard and change shall be made. Peace shall be maintained, and we shall leave this island as civilized, humble people. But remember, if I am not fit to be leader, please pick the next best candidate, whoever that may be to you. Thank you for your time, and may this election be peaceful." Sara smiled and grabbed her papers. She went back to where she was sitting before and sat down. At first, only Andie clapped, but a couple more applauded her. Not everyone clapped, but more than five people did. Michael gave Sara a nasty glare from across JT and Andie. She exhaled and tapped her heels together. Suddenly, it was Jeanette's turn to speak.
