I texted Lance from the car on the way to the school, to see if he was at the dance. To my surprise he was and he agreed to meet me outside the school.

Keir pulled up to the front of the school. We saw Lance standing there, leaning up against the brick building, waiting. Keir eyed him.

"You sure you're okay with me going in with him? Everyone's going to think I'm his date."

"You are." He smirked. "Now go."

"I love you."

"I love you too. I'll see you in there." He smiled. I wanted to reach over and kiss him but I knew that would be a bad idea. I didn't know if anyone else was watching. It was bad enough that he was dropping me off on school grounds.

I got out of the car quickly and walked over to Lance. Keir drove off as Lance pushed himself off the building and smiled at her. "Funny how you're wearing a blue dress and my tie is the same color."

"Well then." I laughed.

"Is he okay with this?" Lance asked looking in the direction of where Keir's car was previously.

"He's the one that told me to text you to see if you were here."

Lance smiled and extended his arm out to me. "Shall we enter this dance?" I didn't answer but nodded my head and linked my arm with his. Together we walked towards the outdoor entrance to the gym.

We walked into the gym and made our way through the crowd of students. Lance came to a stop next to Brad, Larry and Gemma. They smiled at us.

"Glad you could come." Brad smiled at me.

"Wasn't going to." I told him.

"But I talked her into it." Lance smiled and threw me a wink. "So which teacher got sick?"

"Slutty Susan." Gemma rolled her eyes.

"I swear it's morning sickness. She got sick yesterday as well." Larry said stepping next to me.

"Lets hope she's not. That poor child. Wonder who the father is?" Gemma said looking around.

"Could be Mr. O'Connor. He's young and good looking. I'm sure she's tried to dig her claws in him." Brad said.

"I doubt it." Lance snorted. "He's engaged. He seems to be head over heels in love with his girl."

"Maybe." Brad shrugged his shoulders.

"How's Cedric?" Larry asked dreamily.

I giggled. "He's fine."

"What's he doing tonight? Why didn't he come with you?"

"He's working. And it's a school dance. He can't come."

"Doesn't matter that he can't. He could still show up. I want to see him."

"You will. In time." I laughed and Lance smirked at Larry.

"Gemma! Let's dance!" Brad shouted pulling Gemma out to the dance floor.

"Oh Larry sees a yum. Catch you guys later." Larry walked away leaving just Lance and I.

We stood back and watched our friends. A girl came up to Lance and asked him if he wanted to dance. He looked at me, unsure if he should go. I smiled and nodded my head, telling him he should go. He left with her and I stood back and watched everyone. I looked around and spotted Keir standing next to an older male teacher. I wasn't sure his name because he wasn't one of my teachers.

"Having fun?" Someone asked.

"Oh yeah, loads of fun just standing here." I responded rolling my eyes.

"Let me guess you're not a fan of these things?"

"You go it." I kept my eyes out on the dance floor.

"Friends drag you here?"

"Sure." I answered.

"Why aren't you dancing with your friends now?"

"They're fine. They don't need me."

"So you're just going to sit out like sour thump?" He chuckled.

"I guess so." I answered finally looking at the person next to me. He wore wrangler jeans and a white shirt that clung to his chest. His hair was brown, almost black and his eyes were hazel. He was pretty good looking. I knew he couldn't be a student because he looked older, like around Keir's age.

"Harper right?" I nodded. "I'm Mr. Young."

"Uh hi." I said making him laugh.

"So who's you're date for tonight?"

"Don't have one."

"A pretty thing like you, doesn't have a date. Sad."

I looked back at my friends. I caught Keir eyeballing Mr. Young next to me. He didn't seem very happy about it and started walking over. I bit my bottom lip hoping he wouldn't cause a scene.

"Chad." He greeted Mr. Young. "Harper." He smiled.

"Keir." Mr. Young snorted.

"Hi Mr. O'Connor." I spoke softly. Keir squeezed his way between Mr. Young and I and I was thankful for that. I could tell Keir wasn't the least bit happy with Mr. Young being so close to me. Keir's body was stiff as he stood between us. I wanted to reach out and touch him, but I couldn't.

"Hey Chad come here for a minute!" One of the other teachers yelled. Quickly he walked away leaving just Keir and I.

"I don't trust him. Especially around you." Keir spoke turning to face me. "He's had an eye on you since you came to the school."

"How do you know?"

"We were friends. Good friends actually."

"Oh."

"Promise me you'll tell me if he does or tries anything."

"I promise."

"Good. Now go out there and dance. But only with Lance! I enjoy watching you." He winked. I laughed and started walking towards Lance. "I love you." Not wanting to be heard by the students next to me I flashed him a smiled and made my way to Lance, who stood there waiting for me.
