I tried to avoid the four eyes staring at me waiting for me to speak. Gemma was excited and ready to practically burst at the seams. Brad looked a little upset. Then there was Lance, who sat next to me on the bench, across the table from the other two, stuffing his face with his lunch. Larry was nowhere to be found, which wasn't anything new nowadays. He often sat with random people around the cafeteria.

I glanced down at my phone. 'Just tell them, love' was Keir's text back. I sighed and looked at the waiting couple.

"It's Carter isn't it?" Brad said looking pained. "He's been acting strange lately."

"Carter?" Lance choked back a laugh.

"Can't be." Gemma rolled her eyes at her new boyfriend. "Harper was seeing someone. Am I right? Cedric."

"Yeah about that," I responding shifting my gaze between the two of them. "We got married. But his name isn't actually Cedric." I watched as Gemma's happy smile fell. She looked lost in thought for a minute.

"What's his name?" Brad asked.

"Well, you see.."

"Holy shit you're married to Mr. O'Connor!" Gemma shouted.

"Shhhhhh!" Lance and I hissed, making Brad cover her mouth. They both looked at me. I nodded.

"I've been with him for awhile. Before he was a teacher." I told them.

"That's hot." Gemma squealed again. "That's why you weren't drooling over him like all the other girls. You already had him. Mad props girl." She extended her fist out for a fist bump. I smiled to myself, happy that she took the news well, and bumped fists with her.

"So Cedric is actually Mr. O'Connor?" Brad asked.

"Yeah. His name is actually Keir Cedric O'Connor." I informed him.

"That's where you pulled Cedric from!" Gemma laughed. "Smart."

"When did you guys meet?" He questioned.

"When I was fourteen. He had just gotten here from Ireland. We became first quickly."

"You've been dating since you were fourteen? What is the thirty." He frowned.

"No. We became friends when I was fourteen. We started dating when I turned sixteen."

"Still bad and illegal."

"We never had sex, so not much could have been done. Besides we had my parents permission. And he's not thirty." I rolled my eyes. "He's twenty-seven. He turns twenty-eight this summer."

"You like older men." Gemma winked. "He's nine years older than you."

"And you got married?" Brad asked.

"Didn't we already discuss this?" Lance asked.

"Yes, but I'm trying to wrap my head around all this." He chuckled.

"What's there to understand?" Gemma questioned him. "They're married. Just let them be happy."

"Oh, I am happy. I guess I'm just trying to process the fact that one of my good friends is married to our English teacher, that's all."

"If it helps, we can get together sometime and chat." I offered.

"I'd like that." He smiled at me. "I need to ask what his intentions are."

"Sorry B, the role of the over-protective big brother is filled," Lance informed him while slipping an arm around my shoulders. "Don't worry though. He checks out. His intentions are nothing by love and admiration." He winked.
