"Are you serious? He really said that?" Lance asked with his head inside the hood of my car.
"I'm dead serious." I told him as I sat back on one of the chairs and watched him.
It was Tuesday after school and Lance arrived with a flatbed tow truck to pick up my car. Turns out his uncle owns a shop and Lance works there part time. I had just finished telling him what Keir had said to me this morning. I couldn't tell him at school since the others were around but now that it was just the two of us I could.
"He can't be serious."
"He's serious, Lance."
"How does that even come up in a conversation?"
I sighed. "I made the comment about how he looked jealous after hockey practice. He told me he wasn't but that it got him thinking. He said he would tell me what another day. This morning he randomly sits me down and tells me this."
"Clearly he's gone mad."
"He has to be to be with me." I joked.
Lance chucked and moved away from my car and walked over to the big tool bench in the corner of the shop. "What are you going to do?" He asked walking back over.
"Nothing. I love him."
"But he thinks you'd be happier with someone your own age."
"I know and I highly doubt that. He's the only one I want to be with. I don't care about guys my age. No offense."
He flashed me a smile. "None taken. He's very lucky to have you."
"Thank you." I smiled as he climbed back into the hood of my car. "Whats the verdict?"
"You're starter looks like it might be shot. I'll have to bring it down to the part store to get you another one. I'll head there right now so you can have your car right away."
"Don't rush for me."
He smirked. "I'm tired of bringing your ass to school."
"How rude!" I laughed.
"Now get in the car so I can drop you off back at home. I'll run to the store after. Hopefully they have your part in stalk." I stood up from the chair I was sitting in and stomped my foot on the ground like a child, making Lance laugh, and made my way to his car. I got in and after putting the starter on the floor in the back seat, he got in and started the car. "Cedric home?" He asked as he started driving down the road.
"I'm not sure." I told him honestly. "But I do have the keys to get in if he's not." I held up my key chain.
"Good I wouldn't want you locked out."
"Me either. There are creeps that live in our building." We were silent as we got closer to the apartment complex. Until a thought crossed my mind. "How are you going to get the part for my car? You need money and Cedric has it."
He smiled. "Don't worry about it."
"But Lance." I began to argue.
"No buts. I have a little money on me for my exhaust. I'll get it with that."
"That's for you to fix your car."
"You'll pay me back."
"Yes I will." I nodded my head in agreement.
"I'll give you the receipt so you know how much to give back to me."
"Or you could just tell me the amount."
"Nah." He shook his head. "I'm a honest guys so I'll give you the receipt that way you know I'm not pulling your leg for more money."
"I'd never think that."
"I'd rather be safe rather than sorry though."
He made a valid point. I kept my mouth closed as we drove on. It wasn't much further when he pulled over to the side of the road and parked the car.
"Be good to my baby." I told him as I turned to leave his car.
"I will." He chuckled. "I'll call you later to let you know how things are going. If all goes well you should have your car back tomorrow after school."
"Thank you." I smiled.
"You're welcome."
I got out of the car and started walking to the apartment building. I wasted no time getting to our floor. I tried the door and found that it was locked. Frowning I pulled out my keys and unlocked the door. Once inside the apartment I noticed the kitchen light was on. I furrowed my brows in time to see Keir enter the room.
"Hey love." He smiled. "I wasn't expecting you so fast."
"What are you doing?" I asked him as I took off my shoes.
"I wanted to surprise you with dinner."
"You did." I smiled as I walked over to him and wrapped my arms around him.
"But I wasn't finished." He mumbled.
"It's fine. Thank you."
"You haven't tasted it yet."
"Don't need to taste it to thank you." I told him pulling away.
"How was the car?"
"Lance is on his way to get the part he thinks it needs. He said he would call me later to let me know how it's going." I moved away from him and open the refrigerator to grab a drink. "Lance thinks you're mad because of what you said this morning."
"Maybe I am."
"Maybe." I smiled as he walked closer to me.
"I am mad. But I'm not as mad as the hatter." He joked just before placing his lips on mine.
