•Macy's POV•
"Stay safe" JJ called from the kitchen as I walked out of the door, bag in hand. I was walking to the bus stop as they were all leaving for meetings, it was ten in the morning.
"Don't worry" I replied, closing the door and heading down the stairs. Luckily, the bus stop was just down the road so I didn't have to go far.
The morning was crisp, the sun shone through the tall buildings although I could see my breath.
I stood at the bus stop, next to a young boy and his dog that looked to be a German Shepard. I pulled out my phone to see a text from Ethan saying 'Hope you're okay today I'll hopefully come by after the meetings' I smiled down at the message and replied quickly with 'I'll be away all today but I'll chat to you later' I shoved my phone back into my black and white Sidemen hoodie pocket, I was wearing black jeans and a blue denim jacket over the hoodie.
"I'm guessing your a fan of the sidemen?" The boy beside me spoke up with a kind smile, he looked a few years older than me, he had dark skin, a small afro and welcoming brown eyes.
"Yeah, are you?" I slightly lied, knowing that the guys wouldn't appreciate me telling people that I had relations with them.
"Yeah" He smiled. Our conversation ended as the bus pulled up. I was about to get on when I heard him call behind me, he handed me a note before I stepped onto the bus. I payed for the fare turned to find a seat on the fairly empty bus. I sat around the middle, setting my black, The Nightmare Before Christmas themed bag on the seat beside me. I looked down at the note in my hand and carefully unfolded the small pice of paper.
Call me 07576821559x
Although I saw it coming, it still made me smile. I folded up the paper and put it in my bag.
I plugged in my earphones, that I got after Ethan broke mine, and played a song by Daughter called Tomorrow. Music has always shaped me and helped my moods, it's always been hard for me to explain my emotions and thoughts. When I found certain songs or artists that could explain how I felt perfectly and turn it into an art form, it made me happy.
It was odd to feel so free again, after Ann and Jack, although I wasn't in an extremely happy place, I was getting there and I was proud of myself for that.
My home town was about an hour out of the city so I sat back and let the the music consume me. We went off the free way and into the more rural roads, I enjoyed the sight of trees and fields.
Once we got to my town I stood up and walked to the front of the bus, it grounded to a stop at the front of a shop that a kind woman called Mary owned, she was friends with my mum and she treated me like family, she always tended to Mum's grave when I wasn't here. Mum didn't have any family apart from me, she never told me why, that's why Mary was such a big part to my childhood. She was who I spent my birthdays with, although not Christmas as they went to Ireland to celebrate with their family. She always told me that she would have adopted me, but she had three children of her own. They were all older than me, the youngest- Mark- was in his second year of university. Ann and Jack had their way with me by then and would have never let me go, so I never asked to live with her again.
I pushed open the glass door to the small corner shop, inhaling the sweet smell of freshly printed newspapers and coffee.
"Violet, it's great to see you" Mary's voice gushed as she ran over to me from behind the counter.
"You too" I smiled, embracing into the warm hug she offered.
"Why weren't you back for you birthday?" She asked with concern in her eyes, the small creases coming to the corners, once we separated.
"I didn't have enough money for a ticket" I lied, I saved up all year for them bus journeys.
"Well I'm glad you're back now, your cake is in the fridge" She always made me a cake for my birthday too. "I'll be up soon, if you want to head up stairs" Told me before walking back to the counter, where a customer was waiting patiently.
