To the good old days
Now that we're older
We wish to be younger
Nothing has changed
In kindergarten
We wished for a time
When we didn't have to get dressed until noon
In first grade
We wished for the alphabet and coloring pages
In second
We wished when math was just two plus two
In third
Money came into the picture and you started to grow up
In fourth
Came longer math problems and we wished for story time
In fifth
We wished for our sight words instead of ones like hospital
In sixth
We wished for our one teacher back
In seventh
Came the harder times of finding out not every teacher likes you
In eighth
Things became real
Coming home crying
Wishing for simpler times of coloring for homework and everyone likes you
In ninth
Hoping you'll make it through the semester
In tenth
Not knowing what your future holds and hoping it doesn't kill you
We spend our entire lives
Wishing for simpler times
Wishing for a better outcome
Dwelling on the past
But if we dwell on the past
You might miss the love of your life buying you a coffee
Or run into your future housemate and make a bad impression
You'll be distracted from the things life has to offer
So if you're wishing for time to turn around
Stop
You might miss something important

When You Read it, You'll know me
PoetryJust words that flow A river in my head It twists and turns And never stays the same The current is strong You can never go back Pen it down And remember The joy of the ride Through the rough bumpy tide That are the words In my mind.
