"Crap. Lydia!" I shouted as I stood up to go after her.
"Are you seriously going after that girl?" Paige said.
"Yeah I am. Now get out my way." I said as I sprinted after her. With me being as fast as I am I was able to see her run into the bathroom at the end of the hallway. I busted into the bathroom and I heard her sniffling from within a stall.
"Lydia, please come out so I can explain. Please." I said as I leaned against the door.
"N-no. G-go a-away. I don't w-want t-to talk to y-you." She said.
"Lydia please. It wasn't what it looked like. That girl's my ex. We've been on and off and I was trying to tell her I wasn't interested. She thinks she can decide when I'm in a relationship or not." I said. There was no reply.
"Lydia please just open the door. Beleive me, please." I said. I heard her sniffle and then the door opened. I instantly pulled her into a hug and held her there.
"I don't even know why I care so much. I just met you." She said.
"I don't know either." I said as I pulled her closer to me. What was up? There's something weird going on.
"Come on. Lets go. Our next class will be starting soon." I said as I grabbed her hand and pulled her out the bathroom. The hall was still empty because the bell hasn't rang yet. I looked down at Lydia and realized her face was stained with tears. I gently grabbed her face in my hands and wiped the tears with my thumbs. I place my forehead against hers and sighed a sigh of relief.
"Those beautiful eyes look better without tears in them." I said. She gave me a small smile and shook her head. I walked with her to her locker and she grabbed her things. I grabbed mine as well, right as the bell rang. We walked to our class and I once again pulled her desk close to mine. The next few classes went on and it was time for athletics. We were able to get Lydia workout clothes and she joined us. We ended up doing another mile.
"4.30 today. Good job Kendra." She said with a smile. "You can go now."
"I was actually going to give someone a ride home. Do you mind if I stay?" I asked.
"Not at all. You can go ahead and get changed though." She said and I nodded. I quickly got changed and hurried back out. I saw as Lydia was in the middle of a group of girls. They were coming back around and I saw as one of the girls quickly tripped her. She fell to the floor roughly and I rushed to go help her. Coach didn't see it because she was writing on her papers. I saw as Lydia moved to a sitting position and I was by her side in an instant.
"Crap. Are you okay?" I asked.
"That girl tripped me." She said.
"Come on I'm taking you home." I said. She nodded and stood up. The coach saw us and ran towards us.
"What happened?" She asked.
"She was running and then she was t-"
"I fell. I've never been one that's good at running." Lydia said.
"Oh well okay. You should go ahead and go change. Um Kendra will you make sure she gets home safe?" The coach asked.
"Well she's actually the person I was waiting for so it works out." I said and she smiled.
"Well okay. Make sure you get that bandaged." She said as she looked at Lydia's scraped knees. She nodded and then we walked to the locker room. I let her get changed in private and then she came to my side when she was ready.
"Ken! Hey! What are you doing? Why is she walking with you?" Paige said as she walked over to me.
"Her name is Lydia, Paige and I'm giving her a ride home." I said as I placed my hand on the small of Lydia's back.
"Why? She's nobody." She replied. Then a animalistic growl erupted from my chest.
"You will not talk about her like that. Now get out of my site." I snapped. She looked shocked at first and then walked away.
"You didn't have to do that." Lydia said as I felt her grab my arm. Instantly I calmed down.
"I'm sorry, I just couldn't handle her talking to you like that. Like we agreed with before. I don't exactly know why I care for you so much but I do okay. I protect those who I care about." I said. Then I planted a kiss on her forehead. "Come on. Lets go." I said and then I guided her to my car. I opened the passenger side door for her and she got in. I walked around to my side and got in as well. We were about to leave when her phone started ringing.
"Crap!" She said as she searched for her phone in her bag. She found it and quickly answered the call.
"I know I'm late, but I'm on my way, I swear." She said immediately.
"NO! YOU KNOW MY RULES. YOUR LATE! FIND A NICE PARK BENCH TO SLEEP ON!" A man yelled into the phone and then there was nothing. She sighed and shook her head.
"Who was that?" I asked.
"My father. He's really strict." She said.
"Oh, well my house it is." I said as I made my way for my house.
"You don't have to. This happens more times than you think. I'm used to it." She said.
"Well now you have me. Anytime it happens or if you just want to get away from him you can come to me." I said and she smiled.
"Thank you." She said quietly. I smiled back and grabbed her hand.
"Don't mention it." I said. Surprisingly she let me continue to hold her hand as I drove to my home.
I've had girls stay the night with me before so it was nothing new and yes one did happen to be Paige. My mom's pretty laid back about me having parties and girls over since she knows I won't get pregnant or anything. We drove up to my house and I parked my car in the huge semi-circle driveway. I grabbed our bags and met Lydia on her side of the car.
"This is your house?" She asked.
"Sure is, now come on." I said as I began walking to the front door. As soon as I walked in I was met by the butler.
"Ah, Lady Kendra, please, do allow me to take your bags. Oh, who is this?" He asked as he grabbed the bags and looked at Lydia.
"This is Lydia. She's staying the night." I said.
"Ah, well Lady Lydia, I am the head butler of the noble home. Please, if you would like anything, do tell me. I would be more than happy to serve you as well during your stay." He said.
"Thank you Earl but I'm sure we won't need anything. If we change our minds we'll tell you." I replied. He nodded his head and walked away with our bags.
"This place is awesome." She said as she looked around.
"Thanks come on. Are you hungry?" I asked and she shook her head no.
"Can I actually get a bath?" She asked and I nodded.
"Of course. Come on." I said as I grabbed her hand and led her to my room.
"The door to the right is the bathroom, feel free to take as long as you want. I'll go find you some night clothes." I said. She nodded and then she walked into the bathroom. This girl will be the death of me.
