They say healing from grief comes in waves. If that's true, My storm hasn't even begun.
----
It was the day of the funeral and I couldn't brace my self for the showers of "I'm so sorry for your loss", and "It'll get better soon"s. My mom had to practically drag me out of bed so that I could get dressed.
I'd stopped eating when he died, and it's been two weeks since that car ran him over. They found the man, and he tested positive for marijuana. He was put in jail, and he's going to serve his time.
My mom even signed me up for a support group. I refused to go at first, but she guilted me into going. My first session was in 30 minutes, and I really didn't want to go.
When we pulled up, I got out and walked through the church's door. I walked to the front desk and rang the little bell. After about 15 seconds, a worker came out and said,"Can I help you."
It sort of irritated me, because of the fact that's all anyone asks me these days. I shook it off and nodded. "Where's the 10:30 support group."
"To the left, second door on your right."
"Thank you." I said as I walked away. I reached the door and looked through the tiny glass window in the door. I knocked and a pastor answered the door.
"Come and take a seat." He said.
I walked to the closest available seat and set down my purse as I looked around the room.
"All right everyone. Let's go around the room and introduce ourselves to our new friend." Pastor Davis said. Oh great. They treat us like kindergarteners, I thought.
"Hi, I'm Julie and my best friend committed suicide 4 weeks ago. I'm doing okay."
"Hi, I'm Allison and my 15 year old sibling was killed in a car accident."
The list went on and on until it got to me. I took a shaky breath and started. "Um. Hi. I'm Sasha, and my boyfriend of 5 years was ran over by an intoxicated driver. I'm trying." The pastor nodded and everyone finished up. The last person really caught my attention though.
"Hi. I'm Bryan and my brother got ran over by an intoxicated driver." He looked over to face me and I gasped.
"Bryan?"
"Yeah. Hi Sasha." He walked over and gave me a hug. And I thought this support group was going to be easy.
Yay! 2 posts in one day so far! Bye everybody!
