What happened to Katy

I remember that after that day I never trusted anyone. When someone said things like "Don't talk in the way." Or "Just trust me", it would bring back the flashbacks.

In school, I was very introverted, and I actually did better in school due to all the alone time I had. No one hung out with me either because my father was a killer that was to spend a life in prison. I was always alone, and for sometime, that's how I liked it.

Up until middle school, I had no friends. To be fair, I didn't really want any. Until I met Sasha. She was the kind of person everyone wanted to be around. We started to hang out, and we were friend until the very end. We were partners in every assignment at school, and roommates in college.

We had another friend once, her name was Katy. I don't remember what happened to her, only vaguely...

FLASHBACK

"Can you believe all the makeup work I have to do just to graduate." Katy complained as she filed her nails.

"I can, all you ever do is skip class." Sasha replied.

Katy huffed. "Well maybe if class was fun, I'd stick around."

"Katy, it doesn't work like that. Middle school is important, especially since we're in 8th grade." I said as I looked up from my social studies text book.

"Shhh! Be quiet!" I heard the librarian yell from behind us.

I lowered my voice and continued talking. "Yelling at us to be quiet sure does send a mixed signal."

"Yeah," agreed Sasha.

Katy sighed in frustration as she slammed her text book closed. "This is too hard."

"It'd make sense if you were ever in class." Sasha said as I stifled a giggle.

"It's not funny." Katy whined. "Can you guys do my work just this once? I promise I'll start coming to class."

Katy looked at us pleadingly as Sasha looked like she was contemplating it. "Fine." Sasha reluctantly agreed.

I looked at her with my eyes wide as Katy squealed. "Yay! Thanks guys!" She started to stand up and gather her books. "I'll be back at 5 to pick it up."

"Okay." Sasha said as she got up to hug Katy. I reluctantly stood up too as Katy gave me a hug and skipped off.
At 5
I turned to Sasha and frowned. "She should be back by now."

"You're right." Sasha said suspiciously. She pulled out her phone and turned it on. "I'll check to see if there are any texts from her." I heard a ping on her phone and she squealed. "Yay! The news is live streaming again!" I don't know why, but Sasha loves to watch the news.

I sighed and peered over her shoulder. She pulled out earbuds and gave me one as she turned up the volume. "In the latest news, there has been a teenage homicide at highway 67. Mother of 3, Jane Anderson, was driving in the rode when they crashed because of her intoxicated state. Two of her children, Katy Anderson and her sister Layla Anderson, were killed along side their mother."

Tears stung at my eyes and threatened to develop. I swallowed back my cries and turned to face Sasha, as we both grieved our friend's death.
