"Mary, slow down sweetheart!" I call out, chasing the little blonde haired girl down the hallway.
She giggles wildly as her little legs push her quickly, her thinking this is such a fun new place to live. So much has changed for us and I hope that it's for the better. Sam decided to stay with us rather than be with Amelia, which didn't surprise me one bit. The connection between him and his brother is not something I've seen before, they're so closely bonded that not a lot can come between them.
When they were in one of their hunting trips, they encountered something so impossible that it's almost hard to believe. Their grandfather, Henry Winchester, appeared in their hotel room coming from their closet. According to him, he was running from a demon named Abaddon and came in search of John in the future using a spell. But instead of taking him to John as expected, it took him to his next closest kin, Dean and Sam.
Henry Winchester was apart of this secret society called the Men of Letters, who studied and recorded supernatural secrets. They harnessed the power of magic and learned how to use spells and enchantments to their advantage against evil. However, he was devastated to find out about how John turned out and his venturing into the world of becoming a hunter, instead wanting him to follow in his own footsteps and join the men of letters.
However, Henry's fate turned for the worst when he decided to face Abaddon to save Sam. He carved a devil's trap into the bullet and shot her in the head, causing her to remain trapped forever after they severed her head. But in the process, she mortally wounded Henry which resulted in the loss of his life.
Not that John ever talked about it much, but when he did speak to me about his family, he told me how his father abandoned him when he was a small child. Finding out that he wasn't actually abandoned, but instead this was the reason his father didn't return was hard to find out. John was so hurt, felt so abandoned by his father's disappearance that it made a profound impact on his life.
But in the man's legacy, the guys decided to take it up and become Men of Letters themselves, the only ones left in the country. They found the bunker, which is where the Men of Letters used as a home base. The place is filled with hundreds and books and records that the guys can use to help them hunt, as well as a living facility.
Dean and I discussed it and decided we hated being apart so much, so I moved out from the rental with Mary and the four of us have moved into the bunker. It's been strange, the place so unfamiliar and vast in size. But if it means that I get to be with Dean and Sam more, I'll happily take it. Sam steps out from a room and Mary runs into his legs.
"Hey, watch it kiddo!" He says, scooping her up and hanging her over his shoulder.
She squeals in delight and I wince as the noise pierces my ears, "Mary, inside voice!"
He puts her back into an upright position, her resting on his hip as she mushes his face with her hands. He playfully pulls away from her, making her laugh hysterically. My frown slowly dissipates, her being too adorable for me to handle.
"Where's Dean?" Sam asks, looking over towards me as he lifts her up to put on his shoulders.
"In our room I'm assuming, finishing the final touches." I say, glancing down the hallway where I know Dean is.
"He's decorating?" Sam asks, raising an eyebrow as he pulls Mary upright again.
I nod my head, "It's actually pretty cute. He made me do all the decorating back at our house, I thought he should do our room here."
