Chapter 17

Now that Harry has told me all of what really happened that night, I suddenly feel like I could understand him better. Like, all he's done these past couple weeks wasn't such a mystery anymore. He's lost and confused, and doesn't know how to control his anger and sadness. I pictured him how he was a year ago, his curly fringe always in his face, a dimpled smile across his lips. He was always laughing and being the first one to crack a joke. Life was a beautiful thing to him. But as current Harry came into my mind, I cringed and tried my best to think of something else. He's so damaged and deranged. He thinks he can do anything to anyone and not get in trouble for it. I still love him with all my heart and I still think that deep down, that same innocent Harry is still in him somewhere. I just wish life was back to how it used to be.

"Harry, you okay in there?" I asked as I knocked on his bedroom door. I've started to check up on him every 15 minutes whether he likes it or not. I need to make sure he's okay.

"Yeah, I'm fine."

I cracked his door open and popped my head in. He was sitting on his bed, messing with what looked like his phone. The back and front was shattered and it didn't seem to turn on anymore.

"We could get you a new phone if you wanted," I told him after a moment of silence.

"It's okay," He whispered, setting the broken phone in the drawer next to his bed, "I would probably just break it again."

I walked in his room and sat next to him on his bed. "You should really stop thinking like that."

"Like what?"

"You're so negative, Harry. Think positive."

"Okay Mr. Positive Pants, what would you like me to say?"

I laughed. "Nothing, just be more positive. All your negativity really brings me down."

"Sorry, Lou. It's just really hard to think good things right now. I haven't had a good thought in what seems like forever."

"Think of life how it used to be."

"But-"

"Just try," I interrupted him.

He turned his head to the floor, eyeing the carpet. Soon after, a large smile appeared on his face. God, I've missed that. He's so beautiful when he really, genuinely smiles.

"What are you thinking of?" I cooed.

"You. That night when we had our first kiss."

I nodded my head, placing my hand over his. "That's one of my favorite memories. Who knew we would make it this far?"

"Sometimes I wish we hadn't." He mumbled. I ignored his comment in order to keep peace in this conversation. I know he doesn't mean it.

"Isn't this nice?" I asked, intertwining my fingers with his.

"It really is." He smiled.

Since Harry is in such a good mood, I decided to call the boys and their girlfriends over to hangout. I think Harry could really use it. Chloe has tried calling me multiple times, but I always ignore it. I cant stand to talk to her right now. Plus, Harry doesn't need anything else to worry about.

Maggie and Zayn were the first ones to arrive, Maggie instantly pulling me in for a hug. "Is Harry doing okay?" She asked.

"I think he's finally doing better," I smiled as our hug ended. The more and more I say it, the more i'm beginning to believe it. I hope I can stay in this mindset.

Zayn walked over to me and gave me a hug as well, his hand gently patting my back. "Nice to see you again, bro."

They took a seat on the couch as everyone else arrived, Nicole and Paige instantly asking were Harry was.

"In his room, I'll go get him in a couple minutes." I answered them.

"Is Harry in any condition to be up there all alone? Who knows what he could be doing," Niall said, his tone harsh.

"Shut up, Niall. You have no room to talk about him like that. You don't know what he's been through."

He scoffed. "Oh, and you do?"

Seriously? "He's my boyfriend, Niall. Why wouldn't he tell me?"

"Because he's fucking crazy, that's why."

I bit the inside of my cheeks to stop from yelling at him. "That may be true, but he's getting better, Niall. It's not fair of you to talk about him behind his back like that. He's still the Harry he was last month."

"Whatever. I don't even know why I came here."

"Harry needs you Niall, he needs all of you!" I said, pointing to everyone in the room, "He's healing and he needs all the help he can get."

"Yeah, calm the hell down, Niall," Paige told him. I wish she would have said something earlier.

All their attention turned to the stairs behind me and I turned around and saw Harry walking towards us. Everyone was silent as he sat on the couch and I sat next to him. He crossed his legs in front of him and played with the bottom of his shirt.

"I have some explaining to do," he finally said.

-

"You were raped?" Niall gasped. Oh so now he cares.

"Almost," Harry corrected him.

Harry told them the whole story that he told me, his eyes never leaving the floor. His hands were shaking as he explained his traumatic incident. I could tell he was scared.

"Oh my God, Harry! Have you called the cops?" Paige asked, her hands quickly brushing her long brunette hair out of her face.

He laughed quietly. "Do you really think that's a good idea? You know what I did just before that."

"Oh," Her face fell. I guess she forgot about that.

"Are you sure nothing else happened? You're pretty shaken up from just that." Niall said.

"Really?" Paige hit his arm, "Just that? He almost got raped! How would you feel if that almost happened to you?"

"Just stop talking, Niall!" Liam screamed at him. Niall is being absolutely ridiculous and he's beginning to get on my nerves. Why is he so heartless?

"Have you quite finished?" I asked Niall. He needs to stop talking or I'm going to make him leave.

"Fine, sorry."

They all apologized to Harry for being so heartless to him when they didn't completely know his whole story. Honestly, I don't think they cared enough to ask.

"We'll always be here for you, Harry." Liam told him.

I'm happy that they're all on good terms now, but if Harry never told them that he almost got raped, none of this would have happened. They would have continued to pretend Harry doesn't exist and it would have made Harry's condition even worse.

When everyone started complaining about being hungry, I left the house to go grab a pizza. It's all we seem to eat anymore but it's easy. I hope leaving Harry alone with everyone won't be a mistake.

-

When I got home, Liam and Nicole were banging on something and yelling, "Please open the door!"

I set the pizza down on the table and ran up the stairs to see what was going on.

They were banging on Harry's bedroom door and my heart instantly started racing. He locked himself in again.

"Move, please." I told them. They're probably only scaring him.

I tried to turn the doorknob, but as I suspected, it was locked.

"Don't do anything you're going to regret, Harry. Please unlock the door." I told him.

I turned around to face Liam and asked him what happened.

"Niall told Harry to kill himself,"
