I grabbed Alice's arms and pushed her back, forcing her to drop Alexis. I the pushed her towards the river, but she returned the push, knowing the water behind her would cause her agonizing pain.
"You can't kill her Alice! She didn't know her sister was already dead!" I barked.
"I wasn't going to kill her." Alice answered. She pushed me forwards with a burst of strength that knocked me off my feet. As I fell backwards she grabbed the front of my shirt and threw me across the ground. I landed beside Alexis who yelped in fear.
I pulled myself up just as Alice put her palm on Alexis's forehead. "Hold still." She ordered.
Alexis whimpered.
As I tried to get up, my body refused to move. Emma what are you doing?
Alice is breaking the connection between Alexis and the Daybreakers. She's a thrall. Emma answered.
Another arm reached down and grabbed me, pulling me to my feet. Looking up I saw Kira, and behind her was Rose and Alison.
"I didn't-."
"You did nothing wrong." Kira told me. "Well... besides sneaking out and crossing the river..." She rolled her eyes and I managed a smile.
"What are you gonna do with Alexis?" I asked.
"She'll stay in the castle." Rose answered.
"Just keep her out of trouble okay?" Kira sighed.
I nodded a bit. "Who's room?" I asked.
"I can have another set up for her, but I don't think she wants to be alone in our castle with people she doesn't trust." Rose said.
"Bring her to your room." Alison called. "Just be careful."
I was about to nod but then I paused. "But what about my Awakening?" I asked.
They all exchanged glances.
"You're just going to put her with me even though I might loose it and kill her!?" I growled.
"You won't kill her." Kira told me. "You still have a few days. After that we'll move her to a different room."
I nodded and she hugged me. "Be careful with her Myra..." She whispered in my ear. She obviously saw the resemblance in her and Melissa.
She released me and walked back towards the river, Alison looked at me with sympathy. She didn't understand an Awakening, but she knew it was dangerous. Kira took her hand and they both watched us.
Rose didn't look at me, but Alice leaned away from Alexis who let out a whimper. "There." Alice said. "The Daybreakers can't use her anymore."
I moved over to her and knelt beside her. "Alexis are you alright?" I asked.
"Y-Yeah." She muttered. "Can't I just go home?" She asked.
"We're not keeping you because we want to watch you. We're keeping you because if we don't the Daybreakers will come to kill you." Rose said.
Her eyes widened and she whimpered to herself. I wanted to hug her, but I was afraid she would recoil at my touch. She was afraid of us, but what could I do? She didn't know me enough to trust me after what Alice did.
Alice knelt down in front of her, and Alexis attempted to back up in fear. "Forgive my actions... I didn't want you to end up as used as I was. But they wouldn't just kill you..." She stood up and leaped over the river and walked back towards the castle.
"Forgive Alice." Rose sighed. "She has nothing but good intentions, just a funny way of showing it."
"Obviously." Alexis whimpered.
