The Final Chapter

Leah's Point of View

"Are you okay?"

May luhang tumulo sa mata ko. Bumukas ang bunganga ko at lumabas mula roon ang mga salitang mas lalong nagpagulat pa kay kuya.

"Why did you not tell me about him?"

How could they? All along they know that he is my fiancé. But why? Why didn't they tell me?

"The doctor said so. It's for your sake." simpleng sagot ni kuya.

I know that he already knows that I remembered him clearly.

"Kahit na." bulong ko kasabay ng muling pagtulo ng luha mula sa aking mata. "You should have told me."

"Pero makakasama sayo."

"Kaya okay lang kahit masaktan si Clark?" I returned.

Bumuntong-hininga siya. "Naiintindihan ka niya. That's why we were lying."

"I'm so stupid."

"No, Leah. Don't blame yourself–"

Napatigil siya nang bumukas ang pinto ng kwarto ko. Parehas kaming napatingin duon at nakita namin si Ate Trisha.

"Oh Leah. Are you alright now?" tanong niya.

"Yeah." I answered, trying to suppress my sobs.

"Why? What happened? Why are you crying? Pinaiyak ka nanaman ba ng kuya mong baliw?"

Dammit. I tried to hide my tears, but it's too hard. I can't.

"Hindi ate. Ano lang kasi–"

Naputol ang pagsasalita ko nang magsalita din si kuya. "She remembered everything now."

I can hear her gasp. Bumaling sa akin si Ate Trisha. "Is that right?" I slowly nodded. Lumapit siya sa akin at niyakap ako. "We're so sorry, Leah. We didn't mean to lie to you, but we had to. Gomenasai."

I pulled back and wiped my tears. "It's alright, onee-san. I understand."

"12:58 am", I read the time softly.

It's already midnight, but I still could not sleep. I tossed and turned on my bed, but still, sleepiness never took over me.

I still could not believe I forgot Clark, though. They already explained everything and I understand now, completely.

This was what he felt like too, I suppose. When he had amnesia, he did not remember me. And I was mad back then.

What I really do appreciate is that... he understood me. He kept on understanding me. He was never furious and angry. He kept on smiling. Even when he was dying inside, he still grinned. Because of me. For my sake.
