21: Accident

Clark’s Point of View

“Why don't we just disband? Para wala nang mapahamak. Para matapos na ang lahat ng ito.”

Pagkarating ko, ‘yan agad narinig ko. Musta naman daw ‘yun?

Adrian has a point, though. If we disband, then all of these would end. And they will release Leah.

But, that’s just so pathetic and cowardly.

I walk towards them. “Why would we disband if we can fight ‘em? Tsk. That’s pathetic. We are not the ones who are gonna withdraw first.”

They all look at me. But, only Cedric speaks.

“First things first. Is it The Vespers again?”

I pursed my lips. “Yes.”

“Damn.” Patrick curses. “Those foolish bastards really don’t know when to stop, do they?”

The girls can’t say anything. They are just sharing glances with each other as if communicating with their eyes.

Our attention all goes to the ringing of my phone. I pull it out of my pocket and check who is the caller. It is my mom.

“Mom?”

[Clark, go to the hospital...] [Sinugod sila dito.]

Sila? Sinong sila?

[Sila Leah at ang The Vespers.]

Marie’s Point of View

“Clark, listen to us. You are not in the right condition to drive. Calm down and let us drive.”

But for now, pupunta muna kami duon.

Nakarating din lang kami sa hospital in no time.

“Mom, what exactly happened?” tanong niya.

“I don’t know, but... they were in the news. They said that a car fell off a cliff. Luckily, the cliff is not that high. And it was said that the people in the car are the famous model, Leah Rodriguez and all the members of The Vespers.”

Oh my god.

“What happened, Clark? I thought she was with you?”

“Yes, she was with me, mom. I entrusted her to them. They said she got thirsty and bought water but she did not come back.”

“I am the fiance.” / “I am her brother.”

Grey protected my best friend?

“Bukas, maaaring gising na siya.”

Tapos umalis na ang doctor.

“Why did Grey protected her?” tanong ko.

“Who knows?

Third Person’s Point of View

“Come in.”

“Have a seat.” alok niya.

“No. I won’t be taking long anyway.” sagot niya na nagpataas sa kilay ni Grey.

“What brought you here, Sanford?” tanong ni Grey.

“Why did you protect Leah? Do you like her?”

Tumawa si Grey. “Shouldn’t you just thank me?” Ngumisi siya. “Who knows if I like your fiance, though?”

“Fuck! Damn you, Grey!”

Tinapunan siya ng suntok ni Clark. “Tsk.” “Catch him.” utos niya. “He was the kidnapper.”

It was just a mere mention of her name but it caught two guys’ attention.

“How is she?” tanong niya.

“She’s not yet awake. Although the doctor said she will wake up today.”

She sighed.

Kesha’s Point of View

“Hey. Where are we going?” I asked him.

He comes to an abrupt stop, making me bump on his back. I move back as if caress my nose. Aww.

He turns and face me. Gulp.

“Kesha, I love you.” I gulp again as I feel my cheeks heat up. “Please don’t leave again.”

“J-John, I won’t. Hindi kita iiwan.”

There goes what I learned.

“You can speak Filipino?!” he asks with wide eyes.

I nod. “Just a bit. I was studying it for about 3 months. So, yeah.”

“But, Kesha...”

“Bakit?”

“How did you know she’s here?”

“Clark told me everything.” I stopped and looked up at him. “Why didn’t you go with her—” I accused.

I was cut off by the ringing of his phone. I rolled my eyes as he pulled it out.

“Hello, Clark? ... What? Why? What happened? ... Really?! Okay! We are going.”

He kept his phone and pulled me by my hand to run with him.

“Why? What happened?” I asked.

He turn to me and spoke.

“Leah’s awake.”
