August 25, 9 months till the wedding

Louis' P.O.V.

"I wish you didn't have to leave."

Maddy pauses packing her suitcase long enough to shrug.

"My programs over. I don't have a place to stay or money or anything."

"I told you, you could stay with me or one of the boys. We have more money then we'll ever need."

She shakes her head, closes the zipper on her backpack and hoists it up onto her back.

"I told you. I'm not taking your charity. And," she cuts me off before I can even form a coherent word. "Before you say it isn't charity, or that you want to, or that it's gift, it doesn't matter. And even if I didn't mind, I want to go home. I want to see my friends. I want to spend my senior year at home. It's where I belong."

"I know."

"Don't worry." She offers me a small smile in consolation. "I'm still coming back for the wedding. May 25th, right?"

"Yeah."

I grab one of the suitcases and she grabs the other. I hold open the door and we drag them downstairs to the lobby. I follow her outside to where a taxi's waiting.

"I'm sorry we can't see you off at the airport. Uncle Simon booked us for that last minute interview and everyone's already there and they weren't going to even let me come-"

"It's fine Louis. I promise. Goodbye."

Maddy reached up and pulled me into a short hug. Then she got into her taxi and drive away.

I waved until I couldn't see her anymore.

October 8, 7 months, 2 weeks and 3 days till the wedding.

Maddy's P.O.V.

"Everyone ready?"

Giggling, Olivia, Allie, Emma, and Bridget crowd onto the couch with me.

It's our first Skype call with the boys back in England, and it happens to be on my birthday.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

I hit the accept button....

And it opens to a video of an empty room.

"Huh?" Wow, four girl unison.

Olivia looks perplexed. "Is it working?"

"I mean, there's video, so..." I turn up the volume to see if there's any sound.

"1, 2, 3, 4!"

I jump, along with the rest of the girls, as the boys appear on screen, and start to sing at the top of their lungs.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR MADDY,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!"

By the end of their song I was laughing so hard tears were streaming down my face. Emma had fallen off the couch she was laughing so hard. Finally, Olivia was able to choke out

"What. The. Hell. Was. That?!?"

"Our birthday present to Maddy, duh." Niall answered, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Wait. How did you know it was my birthday?"

Harry grins cheekily. "There's this wonderful invention called Facebook."

"Creeper."

"Not!"

"Okay, okay children." Zayn pushes himself between Harry and the computer, as if he could protect me through the cyberspace. "So girls, how goes senior year?"

We chatted for almost an hour, about school, the band, wedding plans. Just as we were about to log off, I heard a familiar voice offscreen.

"Is that Maddy?"

"Eleanor?"

The pretty girl walks onscreen and wedges herself between Louis and Liam.

"What's up? Hey guys, can I talk to Maddy alone for a second?"

We all said our goodbyes and everyone left, leaving just me and El.

"So what's up girl?"

"Okay." She lowered her voice to a whisper. "You can't tell anyone. Swear."

"I won't! Just tell me, you're driving me crazy!"

"I've booked a appointment, January 12th, to go dress shopping for my wedding."

"Still waiting for the secret...."

"I'm going dress shopping in Kleinfeld's."

She pauses dramatically and waits for the news to sink in.

Um, okay....

"In New York."

Wait.

"You're coming to America?!?"

And BTW, May 25th is a really important date. It's the date of my Bat Mitzvah, and the date of Robin and Barney's wedding on How I Met Your Mother.

And yeah October 8th is my real birthday :)
