Chapter 17~

Mae's POV~

I heard a loud knock on the front door, followed by my mom's yell. "Mae, get the door!"

I rolled my eyes and got up from the couch. "Okay!"

I stuck my phone in my back pocket as I walked down the hall. They knock again, louder. "I'm comin'!" Jeez, who's crazy enough to be out in this weather anyway?

I turned the lock on the door and opened it. The wind hit me hard in the face, and I took a moment to recover and let the person inside- there's no way I was going to leave this door open.
I shut the door, locked it, and turned to face our guest.

Surprised by who I was standing in front of, I took a step back. Then the anger came, and I was ready to hit him. "What the hell are you doing here?"

He grunted furiously. "Where is she?"

I crossed my arms. "Who, exactly, do you mean?"

He grabbed my elbow, tightly. I held in the pain by gritting my teeth. "Don't play dumb with me." He leaned in closer, an ugly snarl contorting his face. "Where is she?"

I rolled my eyes as if I wasn't afraid, "She went back to New York, why don't you look for her there?" I peeled his hand off of my elbow and went for the door.

But he caught my shoulder and had me pushed against the wall before I could take another step. A short squeal of surprise escaped my lips. he leaned in with his ugly snarl contorting his face. "I'm no idiot, Mae, tell me where she is."

I gulped. I tried keeping my voice firm, but it came out sounding weak and small instead. "Um, well, maybe if you'd just-"

I was interrupted by 'Little Me ', aka my ringtone for Cathie.

My eyes widened in terror "Answer it, and put it on speaker."

I took my phone out of my back pocket, and clicked the answer button. I put it in speaker and said- in the best usual voice I could muster-, "Hey, girl."

Cathie replied, cheerfully. "Hey! What's up?"

I looked up at him, and answered back. "Oh, nothing really. What about you?"

"Well, the guys and I are going to have a super great movie marathon tonight! and I thought you'd want to come!"

If the circumstances were different, I would have been jumping up and down for joy. But I wasn't. I was terrified. He grinned wickedly down at me.
He shook his head once. " Um, that sounds really.. fun. But I- um- can't."
He is so going to pay for this.

I could practically hear the excitement evaporate from her. "Oh, why not? Is everything okay?"

I glanced up at him. His green eyes glinted in the light of the room as he held up his index finger to his lips. "Yeah, of course. It's just that my mom has me doing a bunch of chores tonight, so I'll be busy all night." He leaned away from me. I added. "But if I get the chance after, I'll stop by."

His gaze hardened again, and I hung up after saying our goodbyes.

He leaned back towards me. "So, where exactly is Cathie?"

--------------------A/N------------------

Hey everybody!

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

I swear it's like I'm reading this fan fiction myself! I'm just so excited for everything!

Oh and sorry about the whole changing the part of The Last Rose, I just kind of felt the need to change it because it would make more sense with how I've decided to take the story line :D

Does anybody know who the mystery guy is? I personally think he is a big "bad word"

Buut, that's the point!

I better go now before I spill everything that's going to happen....
