Chapter 23~
Cathie's POV~
~Two months later~
"Shut up!" I pulled my cards closer to me.
"No!" He laughed as he tackled me, making me throw my cards across the floor.
"Ahh!" I yelled as he began tickling me. "Aaron!" I laughed.
"I win!" he exclaimed as he sat back up, pulling me up with him.
"No you don't! you just made me drop all my cards!" I went to punch him in the arm, but he caught it and pulled me in for a kiss. It was just a quick peck on the lips.
I heard my phone ringing on the couch. "Be right back!" I bounded up from the floor and ran to the couch. I quickly answered the call. "Hello?"
I felt strong arms wrap around my waist.
"Hey, girl! How's it going?" It was Mae
I was shocked, I haven't heard from her in over a month. "It's going good, how are things with you and Niall?" I relaxed into Aaron's chest.
"Great! He just took me on our second date!"
"That sounds fun."
"It was! Anyways, enough about me! Are you going to their concert in London?" I stiffened. The next concert of the guys' world tour. I couldn't breathe, this usually happened anytime I was reminded of that time I spent with One Direction.
Those gorgeous blue eyes that sparkle in sun, and always seem to be full of laughter.
"Um.. hello?""Uh huh?"
"Cathie.. is everything alright?" Mae seemed a bit worried.
"Oh, me? yeah. Of course. What were you saying?" I tried walking toward the couch, but was stopped by Aaron's arms wrapped around me. I patted his hands gently, resulting in him kissing the top of my head.
"The concert? the one you said you would go to.. with me..."
"Yeah, yeah. Of course. Um when is it?" I asked her
"It's in a week. On Saturday."
"okay. I'll get a ticket for Thursday so I can get there a day early and we can go shopping like we planned." at least that's what I thought the plan had been.
"No, you're leaving tomorrow. Remember? We're spending a whole week with the guys then ending it with the concert." She sounded as if this was obvious.
Tomorrow?! I haven't packed a thing! I tore away from Aaron's grasp and began walking to my room. "what time is the flight? do I even have a ticket?? Mae why are you just telling me this?!!"
"I thought you would have had it marked on your calendar, you know, Actually looking forward to it..."
I opened my bedroom door and got out my suitcase. After setting it on my bed I went to my closet and began picking out things to wear. "Well I didn't. Where is my ticket?"
"I don't know, check your dresser."
I walked over and dropped the clothes into my suitcase before walking over to my dresser to find that ticket. Where could I have put it? I opened each drawer one by one, without finding even a trace of the ticket.
I turned my head toward the hall, holding the phone away from me. "Hey, Sweetie?"
"Yeah?" Aaron called from the living room.
"Can you go online and purchase me a ticket to London?"
"Um sure, do you want me to pay?"
I thought about it. I could always buy him something nice during my trip.. "Could you? thanks, babe!" I put my phone back up to my ear. I was greeted by a frustrated sounding Mae.
"I don't know! ask her yourself!"
there was a rustling coming from her end."Mae? Mae what's going on?" I gripped the phone tightly. The rustling stopped. "Hello?" there was an edge in my voice.
"Cathie?" That voice.
I ripped the phone from my ear. My eyes wide in shock. Oh man. Breathe, just breathe.I took in a shaky breath and put the cell phone back up to my ear. "Hello?" my voice shaking at the end of the word.
"Is it really you?"
"Yeah." I felt a burning in my throat. Why did Mae give him the phone? She knows I haven't contacted any of those guys in two months. Why would she do this? I swallowed the tears threatening to pour out freely.
I leaned against the wall, my current task momentarily forgotten.
The slice seemed to last for ages. "Well I'll give the phone back to Mae.. It was... Nice to hear from you."
I didn't think before I spoke. "Louis, wait."
"Yeah?" I heard the hope in his voice.
What was I going to say? "Um, I'll see you later."
"Oh, right. Yeah. See you later." His hopeful voice faltered only slightly.
I heard the rustling on the other end, but I hung up before Mae could talk.
I pushed up from the wall and finished packing.
I walked back into the living room to see Aaron on the couch with a huge bowl of popcorn. He smiled at me as I sat down next to him. I took two big handfuls of the popcorn and began eating it. He had picked out the Incredible Hulk and started playing it.
He wrapped his arm around me and pulled me closer. I took another handful of popcorn.
Maybe I'll drown in all the melted butter before my flight.
