"Please help me I-" Alex cries through the phone. I hear the buzz meaning the call has ended, and I know it wasn't Alex who ended it. For a while he's been telling me that his girlfriend has been hitting him, and I believed him, but he refused to go to the police. He called me, told me that he must of screwed up somehow. I tried to keep him calm, I told him to call the police, he wouldn't hang up, and I didn't want to either. But now, my small school girl crush on the smaller man, may have gotten him killed.

After a few seconds of shock, I dialed 911 and told them the address. I could hear laughs when I told them that his girlfriend was the abuser, but I screamed at them to get their crap in gear. I hung up the phone, and ran into my car. It would take the police 30 minutes to get to his house, as his girlfriend made them move out into the country, so I decided to get there first. I moved into a cheap apartment not far from them because Alex begged me too, and I didn't want him to be alone with her. I only lived five minutes away, but I sped at least 10 miles above the speed limit. I reached their house in 2 minutes. I didn't waste any time barging through the door, only to come face to face with nothing. I ran upstairs, where Alex called me from, but there was still nothing. I ran back down the stairs, and into the basement.

I slowly creep through the door, trying not to make any noise. I slowly close the door, and look around the corner, to finally see what I've been looking for. Alex was in a corner, bruises already forming on his face and chest. His girlfriend towers over him, sneering at him. He cowers farther into the corner, as she starts hitting him again.

I can't take any more. I run over to the corner, where she is mercilessly beating the small man, and pull her away.

*Crappy fight scene warning*

I dig my knee into her side, and stomp on her foot. She screams in pain, but I get off of her and run to Alexander.

"Hi" He whispers to me, his eyes slowly closing.

"Don't close your eyes." I demand.

"It's ok." He cooed out, a small laugh making it's way through his lips. The laugh turns into a cough, he starts coughing out blood, and I knew he wasn't going to stay awake.

"An ambulance is going to be here soon just stay awake till then." I cry out. Before I can do anything else, His girlfriend is up and grabbing me by the neck. My eyesight becomes blurry as she holds tighter, but I use my foot to push her off of me. She lunges back at me, but I press down on a pressure point, drawing blood. (Idk if that's even possible but oh well.) She collapses on the ground, again this time letting out a horrible shriek.

I run back over to Alexander, his eyes almost completely closed. I scoop him into my arms, and run out of the basement. I start to hear sirens, quickly growing louder as we I run out of the house.

After a minute of waiting and worrying, an ambulance comes into view. It stops in front of us, and medics come out of the back. They take Alex from my arms and put him onto a stretcher, and into the vehicle. I run back and try to get in, but they don't let me. I decide not to argue, as that would mean the longer they had to stay here. I jump into my car, and start to drive away, just in time to see Alex's girlfriend in handcuffs walking out of the house.

**Timeskip to hospital**

I burst through the hospital doors, and ask where Alexander is.

"Sorry sir, he's currently in surgery." The secretary said.

"What why?" I question.

"He was stabbed in the stomach. And has internal bleeding." (Idk) She calmly states.

"Well when is he going to be out?" I ask, trying to not let the fear seep into my voice. I fail. A look of sympathy crosses her face. That's never good.

"Oh well, he isn't supposed to be out for a few hours." She breathes out, The sympathy growing stronger. "It also looks like he has a concussion. And he's not going to be awake for a while."

I thank her and walk to an empty chair, letting the tears make their way down my face. I sat in my seat for hours and hours, waiting to hear any news, about my friend.

*Spongebob narrator voice: 5 hours later*

The doctor walked into the waiting room, and called out my name. Despite my tiredness, I sprung up like a spring and ran over to the doctor.

"Is he okay?" I impatiently asked.

"Well, he is still unconscious, but his vitals are good. I came to tell you that the police have to ask you some questions." He responded. I nodded my head and followed him, dreading what was to come.

*Timeskip over interview because I'm lazy*

"Alright that's all we need thank you mr." He pauses, shuffling through his papers. "Mr. Laurens." I nod my tear stained face again, and walk back into the waiting room. The moment I sit down my name is called again, but this time from a nurse.

"Alex is awake." She tells me. I run to his room, already knowing where it is because the secretary told me. I yank open the door, and see Alex, drained of color, hardly breathing. I slowly walk over to him, afraid that if I make a noise he'll break.

"What's up?" He says quietly, letting a small laugh out. I smile, tears already making their way down my face. "Don't cry. That's not fun."

"I'm not." I lie, wiping tears from my cheeks. He laughs again, but it's cut short. The machine starts beeping quickly, I look down at Alexander, and he's taking short choppy breaths. Nurses and doctors run into the room, and start doing things to his chest. The tears come out even faster now, but I'm dragged out of the room. They sit me on a chair outside of the room as I let out choked sobs, wishing for Alexander to live.

After an hour or so, The nurses and doctors leave the room, and tell me that I can go back in. They bring me some blankets and a cot, already knowing that I wasn't going to leave his side. I lay on my scratchy cot, looking at Alexander. He may be bruised, scratched, pale, but I'm never leaving him again. I pull a blanket up over my body, and take his hand into mine.

"I love you." I whisper. The last thing I hear before the darkness engulfs me, is "I love you too."

I awake to the smell of hospital food, and the worst bed I've ever slept on. The memories of the previous day flooded back into my memory and I quickly opened my eyes. The sunlight from the window blinds me and I groan out in frustration.

Once my eyesight has recovered I open my eyes again and greeted by a friendly face.

"Oh I-uh sorry I didn't mean to wake you up." She stutters.

"You're fine." I respond. She sets down a tray of food on my cot and quickly leaves the room. I look down at my hand and see that Alexander and I are still holding hands. A blush creeps up my face and I detach our intertwined fingers.

After a few minutes, I start eating the gross hospital food, wondering what would come of Alexander. I woke up in the middle of the night when doctors came into the room. They were talking about Alexander. They said he slipped back into his coma. I don't know what to do. The only thing I know, is that I'm not leaving his side.

Once I've finished eating a doctor walks in.

"Alex slipped back into his coma, we took some of his blood last night and it looks as though he won't be waking up anytime soon." He says, no emotion in his voice. I nod, knowing that if I tried to talk nothing would come out. He walks out, leaving us alone again.

I get up to get a water bottle from the vending machine, but when my foot hits the floor, the monitor starts beeping, fast. I run back to his side, doctors on my heel. They drag me out of the room, for the second time. But this time, a long beep follows.
