TheDeadliestRainbow how do you know self indulgent sickfics were my weakness?
Alexander Hamiltons stopped for nothing and no one. His furious typing and scribbling could be paused by no one. So what if he had a slight cough and minor chills?
"Alexander," strong hands rubbed his shoulder, a purring voice drifted into his tired ears. "Let's go to bed, my love."
"John..." Alexander muttered, subtly wincing at his throat. It felt like someone was scratching sandpaper down it. "You know I gotta work, babe."
"You need to go to sleep Alexander, you're gonna work yourself sick."
Ironic, Alexander thinks dryly. "John, one more hour, please?"
John lets out a frustrated groan, but he relents. "Jesus Christ, Alexander, is there caffeine running in your veins. Alright, but you better go to sleep soon. I love you babygirl, goodnight. Don't work too hard." A soft kiss was placed on Alexander's cheek.
Alex gave John a grateful smile, placing his hand on top of his fiance's. "Goodnight, Peaches."
Alexander watched as John walked out of the living room and disappeared in the darkness of their bedroom. He had an early shift at the hospital the next morning. Alexander sighed, rubbing his aching temples before returning to his work.
Usually, the droning sound of typing was a comfort to Alexander as he worked, like when someone listens to music to concentrate on their work. But tonight, the constant clicking only worsened his headache.
Keep going, Alexander pushed himself, you need to finish this for Washington.
Alexander finally stumbled into bed around 3 or 4, he couldn't tell. He was engulfed by John's arms, subconsciously or not, Alexander gratefully accepted the warm hug.
The night was rough, Alexander was sweating one second then freezing the next. The only constant was his John's embrace, holding him tightly.
At around 6, Alexander felt John leave the bed and he was hit was a cold sensation. He let out a pitiful whine, and then he remembers feeling John's hand thread through his hair and place a soft kiss on Alex's temple.
Then the front door closed softly, and Alexander tucked his knees to his chest, shivering violently. His head pounded, like an ax blow to the head. He could barely swallow. Everything ached, his limbs included. He felt like he was dying (he couldn't be dying, his boss needed him!).
Eventually, the alarm clock shrilled out. The young man groaned out loud, which probably wasn't the best idea because that caused his throat to burn mercilessly. Upon sitting up, Alexander was hit with a sudden vertigo that made a nauseous feeling bubble in his stomach.
