I'm making john blind because I'm a horrible person ahahaha *cries*

Alexander run a hand through John's hair, smiling fondly at the boy.

"What does grass look like?" John asks, wistfully, as he pets the grass they're laying on. Alex gives him a sad smile, even though John couldn't see it. Alex kisses John's nose.

"Grass is the color or nature, everything sprouting up, a fresh new color. It's ticklish but young." John smiles and snuggles up to Alex's chest.

"You have such a way with words Alexander," John's smiling but Alexander can see sadness in his vacant eyes. He wishes he could gives John his vision, he's seen the world already, John's never got the chance too. He lost his sight at only 2 and doesn't remember anything he did see.

John's been told he has dark curly hair and freckles and was "the most beautiful creature on the planet" as told by Alexander. He's been told Alex has black hair and eyes you could get lost in, by his best friend Eliza (authors note: peggy is always john's off but i think eliza should get that role for once even tho i love the peggy john best friendship sm). He wants more than anything else to see those famous eyes.

"What are you thinking about, Peaches?" Alex asks, lifting John's downcast face up to his level.

"i just wish...I wish I could see you."

With those words, Alexander felt his heart break.

"John, baby," Alex began. "I wish you could see me too, but I don't love you any less because you can't. I fell in love with you, for you."

John feel hot tears come. "I love you, Alexander Hamilton."

Alexander picked up a leaf and put it in John's palm. He closed John's fingers over it. "This is a leaf, they grow on trees. Trees are really tall. Taller than Hercules even." John giggled at this. "They shed these in the fall and they're everywhere. They're what make that crunching sound when you walk in the fall."

John felt the leaf in his hand and vowed never to forget about leaves.

"And," Alexander reached over and put a flower in John's other hand. "This is a flower. They bloom in spring, they're really pretty. They're all types of flowers, I think this is dandelion. It's yellow, really bright and vibrant. Like you."

John felt himself blush. Suddenly, he felt something on his nose. It was, not moving...something else, John didn't know the word, on his face. Alexander smiled, a butterfly had landed on John's nose, it's wings beating against his freckles. Alexander loved the look on John's face, such wonder, curiosity and excitement. He wished he could give that to John everyday.

"That's a butterfly," Alex said. "It's an insect, really small. Smaller than me. It had wings, orange, a bright and exciting color mixed with black." John knew what black was.

"It's...amazing." John whispered as it flew off. John suddenly sat up and felt around for Alex's body before flinging his arms around Alex's neck. "Why do you stay?"

"What do you mean, hon?" Alex asks, wrapping his arms around John's torso, melding into the tight embrace.

"I'm so helpless, blind and oblivious, why do you stay with me? Why does Eliza stay? Peggy? Laf and Herc? Angie? You? I don't know what any of you looks like, only from what I've heard, I'm not a normal friend so why do you stay?"

Alex brushes John's curly hair out of his face and whispers, tenderly "Because we love John Laurens. Disabilities and all."

John smiles, maybe the world wasn't entirely cruel. He saw life through his Alexander's eyes.

The next day, John was walking with Eliza to class when he felt him bump into someone's back. Eliza helped him from stumbling backwards as John apologized, profusely.

"Well, well, well..." said the voice that made John's stomach turn to ice with fear. "If it isn't Alexander's blind pet boy and the girl he should have."

Eliza growled at him. "Back off Jefferson, insulting Alex and me is low as it is, leave John out of this."

Jefferson gave a nasty laugh. "Little thing," he pet John's hair, making John both boil with anger and fear his life. "Alexander 'loves' you know, but just wait. Soon, he'll get bored of someone who can't do anything or amount to anything."

John felt tears come to his ears, after he heard Jefferson's shoes walk away, he fell against Eliza's heaving sobs. She whispered and cooed in his ears, but Jefferson's words were the only thing he could hear as he cried on his best friend. Eliza walked with him to a bench, where the two sat, John hiccuping with tears every so often.

After a while, he heard someone running up to them.

"Are you okay, are you hurt?" he heard Alex yell, flustered and out of breath, indicating he ran all the way from his class in the Law hall.

Alex knelt down and pulled John into a hug. "Eliza texted me about Jefferson, do you wanna talk about it?" he whispered into John's ear as he tightly hugged John, afraid if he let go, something would happen to him.

John shrugged but then nodded into Alex's shoulder. "Are you gonna get bored of me because I can't see?" John mumbled, barely audible as he buried his face in Alex's neck and hair.

"That bastard, did he say that?" Alex asked, anger in every word.

"Answer me, please." John begged, fear in every one of his words.

"No, no, of course not, Peaches," Alex said. "Listen to me, alright? You are my universe, my everything, I will not let something as insignificant as your vision drive me away from you. It's impossible, I love you. Nothing, not anything, can change that."

"It's not insignificant..." John muttered. "Everyone knows me as "the blind boy" or "Alexander's blind boyfriend." Not John, like yo guys do."

"It is insignificant. Who cares what those assholes say, they certainly don't care enough to speak to you, so why should you? We know you, and we know that blindness doesn't hold a candle to the person you truly are, someone happy and delightful. Right, Eliza?"

Eliza smiles. "Of course. Alex loves you John, we love you. You should know, he's always staring at you, any chance he can, he's lost in your aura."

"Really?" John whispers, happily.

"Of course, John, How can I look away?"
