"I heard there's gonna be a new kid in the dorms," Hercules said to Laf, who was reading a French text book (he always looked for mistakes to laugh at them). Laf, always one for indulging in petulant gossip, closed his book.
"Really, mon ami?"
"I heard he's an immigrant from somewhere. I think I heard the Caribbean or some crazy shit like that." Herc said.
"Really? Oh mon Dieu, I hope he's a foreign exchange student as well!"
"I bet his parents are dead or some shit," Hercules said, eyes wide. Lafayette only shook his head.
"Maybe, mon amour, but I do not think that's very...likely." Lafayette reasoned. Hercules only nodded.
"Sure, but why else would he come here?"
Laf chuckled, sweetly. "Why would he not? Kings College is a great place to educate yourself. It's very, how you say...fulfilling." Even after three months of school, Laf still struggled with his English, despite learning it at a young age, his first language was French.
"You guys need to stop with the gossip," Alexander said, leaning against the fridge, rolling his eyes at the two. He munched on his apple. "His name is John Laurens and he's from South Carolina. He's moving in with me, in an hour or so. I'll tell you, rumors are nothing but bullshit, created to stir trouble."
"So why is he transferring...so late in the year?"
Alex shrugged, tossing the apple into the waste bin. "I dunno, they didn't give me that much info. I'll tell you guys after he moves in, okay?"
"Sure," Herc said, throwing a wad of paper at Alex. "Go clean your room, it's a mess. You don;t want it to look that awful when this John character comes."
"Fine, mom!" Alex said, sticking his tongue out as he crossed towards the door.
"I prefer 'Mother Goose'," Herc said. "But whatever."
Alexander heard a knock at the door, he jumped up, running to open it. When he did, he was shocked.
John Laurens was...beautiful. Alexander couldn't see much of his face, but what he saw, simply took his breath away.
He was dressed, head to toe, in black. A black hoodie, the hood up. Black jeans and black, worn out, tennis shoes. He had a few bags behind him.
"Hey," Alexander said, reaching out his hand for a shake. When John didn't take it Alexander awkwardly put in back at his side. "O-okay then, I'm Alexander Hamilton. I presume that you're John?"
"John Laurens," He replied, roughly.
He walked past Alex and straight into the other room. Alexander, shocked and heart beating a million miles a second. Was his roommate super depressed or super emo. Was there a difference? What was his deal?
Alexander didn't know these things.
But he did know one thing. Man, was he in love with John.
John sighed, staring up at the ceiling as the air conditioner hummed. He was lying on the mattress, still bare of sheets or blankets.
Good job John, he thinks, you screwed up with Alexander. Now he must think you're the weirdest, most depressed person on the plant...I guess that isn't too far off from what I am.
Sighing, John pulled himself up from the bed and began to unpack, trying his best to forget the events which had occurred a few minutes ago. He should be used to it, weirding people out and blocking them away. He should be used to the guilt. But, damn, that Alexander Hamilton was one cute person. But he went and destroyed any possible relationship/friendship within two seconds of meeting him.
