"Hey," Avi heard a familiar voice call. He looked up from the lifeless walker he was pulling into his pile to see Kirstie walking toward him.

She looked nice today. They'd all been able to shower for the first time in months this morning. Kirstie's still damp hair was tied into her classic ponytail, and she had on an olive colored camisole with a pair of rolled up blue jeans. This was the first time Avi had seen her without multiple layers of clothing. She looked normal, pretty.

"Hey," he couldn't help but smile back. "How're you feeling?"

"Fine, why?" she asked.

"You seemed off last night."

She shook her head, heat rushing to her cheeks. "Yeah, I don't know what that was. I was just really exhausted I think." Avi nodded, avoiding any more questions.

For the next few minutes the two worked together, stacking the bodies. Mitch and his group had taken out the rest of the walkers in the prison yard that morning, and were now on the other end of the yard, repairing the fence and stacking bodies as well. The plan was to light both piles up tonight, that way tomorrow they could use the ashes as a sort of fertilizer.

"Morning," Scott called, walking out from the prison.

"You slept late," Kirstie said, dragging one of the corpses onto the pile.

Scott squinted through the sun toward the other group. It was hard to tell who was who from the distance. "There's only four of them?" Scott asked, surprised.

"Guess so," Avi replied. "Three guys and a girl it looks like."

The trio stood still momentarily, watching the four figures as they worked.

"I'm gonna go over," Scott finally said. Both Kirstie and Avi looked at him in surprise.

"Scott, no," Avi said. " You heard what Mitch said, we need to just stay in our block, not bother them. Why push that? And on our first day?"

"We're not in our block right now anyway," Scott said, grabbing his gun.

"Avi's right, Scott. It's a bad idea."

"Look, it's not like they're going to shoot me."

"They just might," Avi warned.

Scott shook his head. "I'm going over, and I'm going to be fine. Relax."

Helplessly Kirstie and Avi watched as Scott began to trek across the large yard, watched as the other group looked up. Sure enough one of the men, who Avi could quickly identify as Travis by his limp, raised his gun, rushing to meet Scott. Another man hurried by his side, and the buzzed hair made it clear that it was Mitch.

With both Kirstie and Avi holding their breath, dreading the sound of a gunshot, they watched as Travis, Mitch and Scott met near the center of the yard, exchanging a brief, inaudible conversation. Then, surprisingly, Travis and Mitch led Scott over to the rest of the group.

"Well alright then," Avi mumbled.

"He's insane," Kirstie breathed back, however she was clearly relieved.

After staring for a moment Kirstie and Avi went back to their work, still grabbing bodies and hauling them into the pile. It was taking them much longer than Avi had expected.

"So why don't you ever talk about yourself, your past?" Kirstie asked as she sat to take a water break.

"That's not true," Avi responded, still working.

"You've told me barely anything. Which is unfair, since you know tons about me."

"How the hell do I know tons about you?"
