What happened? Where am I?? Where's Garrison? I wake in a dark room, sitting on a concrete floor, with my wrists and ankles bound by black, rusty chains. Cloth tied around my mouth, my jaw restricted from closing. I open my eyes and see Jack, the same way as I, except without the cloth. Are we at the abandoned house?? Did Mom have an alliance with Jake?
"Leah? Are you hurt?" Jack asks. I shift my body to face him. I shake my head and look around at the cement walls. We're in a basement of some sort. It seems like we're at Jake's, I would bet money on it.
"Well, Leah." My sister, Melanie starts. "You knew what we hunted, and yet, you still fell in love with a wolf. But worse than that, you became one." She continues on. She pulls the cloth out of my mouth. "So, then, to make matters worse, you became an alpha. The most powerful wolf there is." She rambles.
"Please leave us alone, Mel." I plead. Jack glances at me.
"Shut it, mutt." She snaps. She grabs a lonely chain from the ground.
"You don't have to do this," I cry. "please don't do this!" She makes her way over to me, chain in hand.
"I'm still your sister." I assure her. She shakes her head.
"You stopped being my sister when you were bitten." She replies.
She whips the chain across my back. I cry out in pain, she repeats her action a few times before stopping to continue the interrogation.
"Where's Garrison, Le?" She asks. I keep my mouth shut, clamping my jaws together.
"Not gonna tell me, huh?" She asks.
She walks over to Jack, his eyes still on me. She takes her foot and kicks his jaw, his body falls to the side, his eyes close, but I still hear his heart beat.
"Jack!" I exclaim. I growl at Mel and look down at the chains. I rip them out of the wall, they clatter at my sides. I stand up, lift my head, and howl.
"Leave him alone! It's me that you want!" I mumble. I look at Jack, his eyes still closed. My glare focuses on her, waltzing around playing huntress.
"A little heroic huh? Where was this heroism when I was attacked by one of them? Huh? Where was it?" She demands.
"You weren't turned, don't be so melodramatic." I hiss. She raises an eyebrow.
"Seems as though you care for these monsters." She replies.
"Yeah, I do. I'd give my life for them. Hell, I'd sacrifice you as a peace offering." I snap.
"You wanna bite your tongue before you get yourself killed?" She warns. I outstretch my arms.
"What are you gonna do, you little bitch? You gonna kill me? Because all I'm seeing here, is daddy's little girl who won't do a damn thing." I snap.
"Shut it, Leah!" Mel exclaims. She pushes me to the ground, my body slams hard. She straddles my flailing body, I claw at her. She pushes on my chest. Her knees crush my ulna and radius, and her elbow cracks my ribs, her foot crushes my ankle.
"Nice Mel, that's the little wannabe I know!" I snap. She proceeds to punch my throat. The impact damages my breath. I gasp for air. Blood covers my body.
"Tell your pack not to come back here, I won't hesitate to kill them." She warns. She drags both of us by the ankles, outside in the pouring down rain.
My breathes become shallow. With the small amount of energy I have left, I look at Jack, who suddenly regains consciousness. He stumbles to stand straight, and notices my status. My eyes flutter open, and my head falls to the grass. The small stalks of dewy green grass comfort my body.
"Leah?" He calls. He falls to his knees.
"We need to get you to a hospital." He says. He looks into my eyes,
"Leah?" He asks. His body becomes but a blurry, fuzzy image, a kaleidoscope of shapes. "Leah, can you hear me?" He takes his phone out and begins talking, most of which is just muffled to me. He picks me up bridal style, his right hand supporting my back, while his left hand holding my legs. My head sways with every movement he makes.
"Okay, Leah, we need to get you... safe place. Can... you... hear... Leah?" His voice goes in and out.
"Look, the ambulance is here... it's okay, it's all okay." He assures me.
*
"Female, approximately 20 years old... broken bones..."
"Leah, hang in there, okay?" Jack's voice echoes.
*
"She needs to have surgery, sir, you will have to stay here." The nurse explains. I stare at the white tile ceiling and think, will I survive?
