"We can't go to the hospital yet." I inform Jack, shaking my head. His brows furrow and his mouth gapes open in utter confusion.
"What are you crazy?! You are having contractions!" He exclaims.
"We don't have a bag packed, we have no supplies for him, I look a mess, and we don't have a name for him..." I pause, shit! We don't have a name! I sit on the edge of the bed. "oh my God, we don't have a name for our son!" I explain.
Jack scrambles to pack a bag. He throws a bunch of random stuff into a bag and zips it up.
"Did you get a change of clothes?" I ask. He looks down and grabs a set of clothes for himself. "Did you get my nursing bras?" I ask. He looks down at the floor and pulls a strapless bra out of my drawer. "That's not... babe, just let me do it." I add.
"We don't have time to pack a bag!" He exclaims.
"I'm packing a bag and we are going to Target to get the baby an outfit. I don't care if my water breaks in the store, we are going!" I exclaim.
I begin packing the bag, throwing all of our stuff in it. Toothbrushes, toothpaste, brushes, deodorants, hoodies, a change of clothes for both of us, coloring stuff for the girls, nursing bras, thongs, phone chargers, shower stuff, medical paperwork, a blanket, and a button up shirt.
Jack also scrambles to call Mel. Someone has to watch the girls while we are gone.
"Uh, Leah," Jack begins. His voice low. He places his phone against his shoulder. "Mel can't watch the girls, she's in labor."
"She is?! We can't take the girls, call Ian or Leanne. We still need to go to Target!" I reply. He rolls his eyes and walks into the other room.
Okay, so at Target I need; diapers, wipes, an outfit, a hat for him, a receiving blanket, a regular blanket, and pacifiers.
Jack installed Odette's old car seat last week. The nursery is painted and ready for my little man. We have plenty of diapers, just not newborns.
Ow, son of a bitch! That isn't meant to be taken literally because I'm a... you know what? Never mind. I stop in my tracks, holding my stomach. The contractions are definitely getting closer.
"We need to go to the hospital, screw the baby stuff." Jack mumbles. My eyes widen, I could kill him right now.
"Screw the baby stuff?! That is for our child!" I exclaim, the room changes to a crimson hue. Jack's eyes widen.
"I know you are under a lot of stress right now, but you need to calm down. The baby could come at any minute. You are having frequent contractions." He explains, tell me something I don't know.
"You're right, I'm sure they will have stuff at the gift shop." I reply. Jack nods in agreement. He grabs the hospital bags which are immensely overpacked.
"Mommy, I want juice!" Odette exclaims, running into the room. I nod at her request, waddle out of our room, and approach the stairs.
"Babe, let me get it for her." Jack suggests.
"I've got it, I'm more than capable to get her some juice." I reply. I take a deep breath and take it one step at a time. Odette and Jack follow behind me.
Once I reach the bottom step, I take another deep breath and make it to the kitchen. I open the fridge and get her a Capri Sun. Once I hand it to her, a huge relief is let from my stomach and pelvis. Fluid gushes from my dress, splattering on the hardwood floor.
"Oh shit, babe! My water just broke!" I exclaim.
"Mommy peed on the floor." Odette giggles to herself for a moment, looking down at the water on the floor.
