Finally back at the house, everyone's impatiently waiting. As soon as they see I'm back, their gazes fall to me. Leane's heart is beating a mile a minute, to calm her and everyone else's nerves, I nod.
"How did it go?" Cameron asks. I look at each tree in sight.
Their broken limbs, dying bark, and a sense of empowerment catches my attention. I take a deep breath before replying,
"We've reached an agreement. If they don't harm us, we won't go anywhere near them. If it's broken, we can discuss the issue."
"So no battle to the death?" Ian asks. I shake my head.
His expression changes from tense to a rathe calm state. His muscles relax.
"Damn, I was hoping to rip off some heads or something." Cameron remarks, followed by sipping his coffee. I smile at his remark. "What?" He asks curiously.
He was never one for fighting, especially when I was around. He always believes that fighting doesn't resolve anything, but, I guess times have changed.
"I'd hate to ruin your sense of assurance, but, they're coming." Max pipes, his body facing the woods.
His muscles tense, as if he were trying to sense something far away. All of us stare at Max in fear. Fear of war, fear of death, fear in the generalized term that means- we're screwed.
I look around and realize, Garrison is nowhere in sight. I look at everyone here, scanning through all three packs. Garrison is gone. But where could he possibly be? As if a small switch clicks on my brain, I take off running into the house. He's bound to be in here. I open the glass door leading to the living room.
"Garrison?" I call. As I receive not one response, panic wells in my body. I search every room.
"Garrison?" I call again. A pair of footsteps follow behind mine, I slowly turn around.
"What are you doing?" Jack asks sincerely. My fingers reach my forehead. My thumb touches the end of my eyebrow.
"I'm looking for Garrison, have you seen him?" I ask softly. He gives me a puzzled look.
"I thought he was with you...?Jack questions. We both look into each other's eyes and take off outside.
"Garrison!" I call, to only receive echoing from my voice. Each urgent vibration pings off the trees.
"Damn it! He went into the woods!" Jack exclaims.
"We need to find him before he gets himself killed." Brent acknowledges.
"There's no we about this, I'm going alone." I reply. Brent shakes his head. His brown locks swing against his neck.
"You can't go alone, if you get hurt and there's nobody with you-" Brent starts.
"I'm not going to get hurt." I cut his statement off. He raises an eyebrow.
"I'll go with you, to at least have one person as backup." Jack advises.
"Fine, but only you. I don't want all of us out." I reply. Max shakes his head.
"I'm a trained-" Max starts.
"I don't even care if you're potty trained, you are staying here." I snap, his green orbs stare into mine. The others laugh at my statement.
