Chapter Four

My uncle Jeff had been banned from the alcohol from my mum so he was being okay and my dad arrived from the shop with everything BUT the milk. My mum wasn’t best pleased, and I’ll leave it at that.

Claudia hasn’t been down since our little chat, and we’ve been here for two hours.

“What did you actually say to her?” my mother questioned, in the corner of the kitchen, as we have all just eaten a Sunday dinner, even though it was a Saturday.

I shrugged my shoulders, “Nothing too mean, don’t worry” I told her. I was feeling a little guilty, but it was true. She should not be at home still. It’s unnatural.

“I wish you would be nice to each other” she said wistfully as she walked off to stack the dirty plates up.

I moved towards her and took the plates out of her hands, “I’ll wash up mum” I commented, picking up the remaining plates and placing them in the sink.

“Yes!” someone shouted behind me. I turned to face them and saw Josh stood their smiling broadly. I raised an eyebrow at him, “It was my turn to wash up” he informed me, making me smile. I remember those times.

“Well, maybe I’ll make you help me…” I trailed off teasingly.

His face dropped, “You can’t do that! You’ve already said you’re going to do it!” he told me. But I already knew all the tricks.

“But I didn’t say I would do it alone, you can dry-up” I stated.

He shook his head, “Tell him mum! He can’t do that!” he yelled.

I laughed at him, “Don’t worry, you can’t wash up anyway. If I remember correctly, you were always the one who left bits of food on the plate – after you washed up”

“I can wash up! I was only 13!” he exclaimed, making me and mum laugh even more.

“Just go away Josh, before I do make you wash up” she scolded. I’ve never seen someone run so fast.

After Josh sprinted out, Sammi walked in, “You okay baby?” she asked, kissing me on the lips lightly.

I grinned, “Yeah” I kissed her lightly on the lips again, “I” kiss, “am” kiss, “just doing” kiss, “the washing up” kiss.

She was smiling at me, making me feel special and like I didn’t deserve her, which I didn’t. “I’ll dry up if you want?” she asked and I nodded to keep her in here with me.

“Thanks”

“No Problem” she replied, “What did Claudia say?” she whispered, leaning into my ear.

“She admitted it and won’t be doing it again” I informed her, in little detail. “You should have told me sooner” I scolded her lightly. I feel horrible that I made her come and visit my family with Claudia behaving like she does.

“Sorry, I didn’t want you to fall out with your family” she admitted truthfully, blushing lightly.

I pulled her into a hug, “Well you haven’t”

“I know, thanks again”

I was about to reply when the front door went,

‘Knock’

‘Knock’

“Danielle, get the door!” my dad shouted from the living room.

I turned the taps off the sink and went to stand in the doorway of the kitchen to see who had come. “Oh hi Kels! Come in!” Danielle greeted. Kelsey was here. Oh god! I’ve got to go. Now.
