Chapter Five
All week I had been thinking about Kelsey. When I was in the shower, when I slept or whenever Sammi was out of the house. Im pathetic and stupid because I love Sammi with every fibre of my body and the infatuation I have with Kelsey is because when I saw her, it reminded me of how good things used to be with us. Right, girly deep thought of the day over.
It was Friday and during the week I had managed to pull a few shifts at this club in Manchester centre. Boredom had already taken over my life and I had only been home just under two weeks. Sammi had a job with her sister in a hairdresser as she had trained as one as well as doing the Travel and Tourism course. So being alone all day and being subjected to day time TV is not good for a guy’s mind.
Sammi was bringing Alana out tonight to give me some ‘moral support’ as she liked to call it. I think it was just an excuse to bring out Alana as she missed out last week, not like she missed out on anything spectacular.
The club was called Dark Side Of The Moon and it was where all the Premier League footballers go. Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand were spotted emerging from it last week, as I had been told by Sammi. It was famous and I only heard about the job because Leon had overheard a conversation about them needing a temporary barman. I was the first person to ring up and ask for it and because I had experience in working in Clubs and Bars I got it straight away. I went down Wednesday night and learned all the tricks and we went through all the legal stuff as well.
We arrived at the bar and I had to go in a side door, “Flower, I’m going to go check in, I’ll meet you at the bar later” I told her. She pouted so I kissed her on her lips, which turned heavy. I pulled out, “Flower, I really need to go now” I begged her and she gave me a last peck on the lips and let me go.
The loud music was deafening but the atmosphere was amazing. I had a sneaky peak around the corner and it was practically pitch black. For 10 O’clock, it sure is packed. There were light beams of different colours shooting everywhere and that smoke crap that smells horrid was all over the floor over the feet.
I checked in with the manager and stepped behind the bar. The amount of people being squashed against the bar just for a drink was immense. I couldn’t see Sammi and Alana just yet so I served the first person I saw, which was a man.
“What can I get you mate?” I asked, grabbing the price list and a calculator, careful not to show the customer.
“Can I have two bottles of Stella and a Double Vodka and Coke” he shouted over the music.
I counted it up quickly, “£8.50” I told him. He passed me a tenner so I went to the till and passed him back the £1.50 change.
I poured his drinks and placed them on a tray for him so it would be easier to carry.
The night continued like that for a least an hour. I still hadn’t seen Sammi or Alana so it had been pretty boring.
“You’re a barman? Wow! You look like you should be a model!” another girl practically screamed. Every girl I had served so far had flirted with me and although it made me feel even better about myself, I didn’t want to be leading someone on.
I laughed to keep up the pretence, “Thanks, not to bad yourself, what do you want to drink?” I asked smiling.
She started to twirl her bleach blonde hair around her finger and that’s when I had to resist the urge to gag. Why do girls do that? It makes them look desperate! “Can I have two After Shocks please?” she purred.
