Hey (:
Chapter Eight
The months flew by and in two weeks we were going back to work. I honestly cannot wait, the sun, drinks everything, it’s going to be ace. Plus I get to spend it with my favourite person in the world: Sammi.
As I was walking to work, my phone rang and so I answered it. “Calvin?”
“Kyle, hey man. I was just giving you a heads up because Kelsey is coming to Manchester for a few days. She insisted she come and see you tonight whilst you were working, so are you with Sammi?” He asked and I sighed deeply. Can I deal with seeing Kelsey again? Last time, it made me remember how beautiful she was, and tonight in a nightclub she is going to look her best…should I just say no?
I responded with the truth. “No, she’s having a girly night with everyone, bring her round if you want.” I sighed.
“Are you sure?” He questioned warily.
“Yes, now shut up before I change my mind.”
“Okay, see you in an hour or so.” He told me before ending the call. What had I done? I know I won’t cheat on Sammi, but what if Kelsey gets drunk and starts hitting on me? If I remember correctly, she was always a flirty drunk? What if I say the wrong thing and it gets her upset? Shit, I should have told him that Sammi was there. I groaned before stepping into the side entrance of the club.
Because I acted fast when Alana was injured, I was taken on and I have actually started to love the job, it’s a shame I have to quit next week. I signed in to make sure I got paid and went through to the bar, where the place was just starting to fill up. The music wasn’t on as loud at the moment, which was good; give me a chance to speak to Chelsea and Dillon.
“Hey man, you okay?” Dillon asked as I wandered over to them and sat down on a stool.
“Yeah, doing great thanks, you?”
“Yeah, thanks.”
“I’m still a little bit jealous.” Chelsea whined, making me laugh.
“Sorry.” I apologised jokingly and she stuck her bottom lip out.
“Can’t you get free holidays?” She asked and I shook my head.
“Only for immediate family and it’s a discount at that.” I told her laughing.
“Can’t you say I’m your sister?” She begged and I shook my head. The amount of people that asked me that was ridiculous. The discount is only five per-cent, nothing to celebrate.
A group of girls walked in through the door, followed by a bunch of lads. As soon as they wandered in, the music started to rise up, telling us that we were to get up off our asses and get prepared to serve people.
The first hour was the same, girls hitting on me and boys trying their luck with the girls. When I saw her, my breath got caught in my throat and I started to choke as she made her way towards me. “Hey Kyle.” She greeted and I waved back, whilst catching my breath.
“Hey…sorry, a nut went down the wrong way.” I laughed and she did as well making me thank my lucky stars that she believed me. “Where’s Calvin?” I wondered looking around for him.
“He’s just gone to the toilet.” She told me completely oblivious. He’s done it on purpose, I know he has, jerk.
I sighed, “Oh right.” The atmosphere was starting to get uncomfortable. “Erm…you look nice.” That was an understatement. She was wearing a lime green skater dress with a black belt and black high heeled wedges, making her light green eyes stand out more. Her make-up was minimal like usual and her long, light brown hair were put up in a bun on top of her head with tendrils falling around her face.
