|Chapter 8|
|It's Mine Now|

Thea's P.O.V

I yawn once more and pull the door handle to Devin's car. I hop out on numb, wobbly legs. "Thanks Devin," I say while grabbing my stuff from beneath the seat.

"No problem. Do I get a kiss?" He asks jokingly. I look at him and laugh when he winks.

"Sure!" I say with false excitement. I climb into the car and his eyes widen.

"Seriously?" I nod my head widely. He closes his eyes, waiting for my lips to touch his.

I smile devilishly. I place my palm against my lips, raise my hand, and smack him on the cheek.

I burst out laughing at his baffled expression. His eyes narrow in a glare.

"Perra," He whispers. "I shall get you. Not now. I will get you when you least expect it. I will get you when you are in your most vulnerable. I will get you." He declares while rubbing his reddening cheek.

I pucker my lips like I sucked on a grapefruit and my eyes widen innocently. I go to pull out my phone only to notice I don't have it with me. Crap. I hope Ryder has it.

"Let me see your phone." I demand. His eyebrows scrunch together creating a eleven in between his brows.

"Why?" He asks while pulling out his phone. He unlocks it and hands it to me. I scroll through the apps until I find Youtube. Perfect.

I click on Youtube and wait for it to load. Once it's done, I click the search button and search up the song that relates to this moment.

'What do you mean' By Justin Bieber plays through the speaker. I place the phone on the seat and and start to sing along off-key.

"What do you mean?" I sing, making my voice crack. "When you say I slapped you, but I want to say no. What do you mean?" I start to laugh as I repeat the lyrics, even if it doesn't make sense with the chorus.

"Enough!" Devin shouts laughing and grabs his phone. He shuts his phone off as a crack of thunder echos through the sky, making me jump in my skin. "You should get in your house, it's going to start pouring rain soon."

I nod my head and close the passenger door. I pick up my stuff from the ground and walk to my porch. I turn around in time to see Devin pull out of the driveway. I wave goodbye, hoping he seen me.

I open the door and walk in. I immediately go to my room, drop my stuff on the ground and flop onto my bed. I curl into the fetal position and hug my fluffy purple pillow.

I sigh in content and snuggle more into Ryder's hoodie. Wait, his hoodie. Not anymore it's mine now. I smile and my eyes droop close.

   It's mine now.

Ryder's P.O.V

I flip to my side. It is three in the morning and I still can't sleep. Thea's tear streaked face keeps bombarding my mind.

Oh, Thea. What are you doing to me? I sigh. Well, looks like I'm not getting any sleep tonight.

I sit up and place my feet on the floor. I run a hand through my hair and rub my eyes.

I get up and leave my room in only my sweatpants. I go downstairs into the kitchen and grab a carton of orange juice. I go and sit down at the table and drink my juice.

I only met Thea today and I can't sleep because of her. I shake my head at the foolish thoughts. I take a big gulp and twist on the cap.

I walk back into the kitchen and put the juice back in the fridge.

Screw this. I jog up to my room, grab my jacket and shrug it on. I grab my car keys that sit beside my bed and tip toe down the stairs, careful not to wake anyone.

I open the front door and close it with a soft click.

I open the door and start the car. I put the gearshift in reverse and speed down the driveway. I put it back in drive and drive to my spot.

 ***

I arrive within minutes. I walk through the forest. I arrive at a old rundown shack and try to push the door open.

When it doesn't budge, I jam my shoulder into while turning the nob. I break in Suri dust billowing everywhere. I cough and swipe around the area where my mouth and nose is.

I walk to the backyard of the shack and tug two thorny bushes out of the way. I step between them, careful not to get caught by any thorns.

I look at the small cement slab sitting a few feet from the cliff. I walk over there and sit on it and gaze at the sight before me.

Various colors of midnight blue stretch across the sky. The towns lights sparkle in the sky. The few stars visible in the early morning sky sparkle down.

I yawn and lay my arms behind for a pillow. My eyes start to droop close. Images of today flash through my mind.

The orange rolling away from me.

Thea punching me for hurting Devin.

  Me stealing Thea's food.

Going to the spot with Thea and her dressing down.

That last image to scroll by is Thea's lazy smile and the twinkle in her eyes.

Oh Thea, what are you doing to me?
