I'm at the Annual School Carnival, holding a clipboard, getting things ready, talking with Mark. "I mean, Alex looked just like you. It was freakish." He says, and I sigh, and look up at him, fake smiling. "He is my Ancestor. Magical creepy birth giving abilities. Hey, I moved the Student Booth into the Cafeteria." I say, and set the clipboard down. "You're Vampire Ancestor." He says, as I grab a bag of stuffed animals. "And he didn't just resemble you like a family member would." He says, as I grab my clipboard, and walk over to the other animals. "He was you." He says, as I sit the bags down. "I don't. I don't know. I can't explain it. Okay? It's creepy. It's all I got." I say, opening the bags, and toss the stuffed animals with the rest of them. "Well, how do you know he's still not out there pretending to be you?" He asks, as I look at him. "I don't, but I could sit here and be tortured by the not knowing." I say, grabbing the other bag, and walk to the next booth. "Or I could get these prizes to the Ring Toss." I say, opening them. "Well, have you talked to Damon since he killed Jeremy or. Or tried to kill Jeremy?" He asks, as I pick up the bag, and look at him. "No, Mark, I haven't, and I won't, and I don't wanna talk about Damon or anything else that's Vampire related, okay?" I ask, and hand him the bag. "Copy that." He says, smiling. "I'm human, and I have to do human stuff." I say, turning around, and pick up the other bag. "Otherwise, I'm gonna go crazy." I say, and look at him, and he nods. "Ok. I'm sorry. Now focus." He says, as I smile. "We have to make Tony proud, or he will kill us. I don't know how he does this all the time." He says. "Well, because he's not human, obviously." I say, smiling, and check the balloons off. "Obviously." He says, laughing, and we run off. I see Jeremy and Stefan by Jeremy's locker, and walk over to them. "Courtesy of Slave Driver, Ethan. Hello Ethan." Stefan says, and they both look at me, and he puts his left arm over my shoulders, and look at Jeremy. "Hi. Um, did you." I say, and he interrupts me. "Yeah, yeah, I set up the Goldfish Toss, all three hundred Goldfish. It's gonna be epic." He says, fake smiling, and shuts his locker, and walks off, and I turn around, and step backwards, looking at Jeremy, and lean back against the locker, and Stefan gets closer, smiling. "He's gonna be all right. He's just been through a little bit of an ordeal." He says, as I have my arms crossed, and sigh. "I was just hoping that this Carnival would reel him back into the land of a high school teenager." I say. "Oh, is that what we're doing?" He asks. "Yes. We all are. We're going to be boring high school students who live in a world where the v word is not uttered." I say. "Got it." He says. "And then later you're going to take me to the Ferris Wheel, we're gonna ride to the very top and then you're gonna kiss me and my heart will flutter like a normal high school boy. Do you see a running theme here?" I ask. "Yeah. No, I'm seeing it, I'm. I'm liking it, but I have a quick question. Uh, what do we do about Damon?" He asks, and I hold my left index finger up. "Uh, no D word okay?" I ask, and put my hand finger down. "That has been deleted from the list of topics that we can discuss. "Unfortunately Alex showing up has been a little bit of an odd place, little off kilter, kind of dangerous. Who knows what he's up to?" He asks. "Just.. kiss me." I say, and he laughs, and pecks my lips, smirking. "Oh, my God. Come here." I say, wrapping my arms around his neck, and he puts his arms around my waist, and kisses me. It's nighttime as I'm at the Carnival, walking with Mark. "The Ring Toss us out of Bart and Homer dolls and Team Jacob Ts." He says. "Ok, I can grab some from the Science Club. Also, we lost a Speaker in the Karaoke booth." I say. "Hey, it's all good, Ethan. Take a beat. Look around. This is a huge success." He says, smiling. "You mean, I can do more than just wreak Vampire Havoc?" I ask, sarcastically. "Go figure." He says, and we both laugh. "I'm on Team Edward by the way. I mean, they have their own little Vampire World. Because we'd all probably be dead for knowing about Vampires." I say, and we both laugh, and I look up, and see a dark skinned guy fixing the Popcorn booth. "Hi. Uh, Carter, right? You're with the Carnival?" I ask, as he looks at me. "That'd be me." He says, walking over to us. "Ok, great." I say. "Wow. What you need, handsome?" He asks Mark, and Mark laughs, as I look at him. "Um, what do you know about Karaoke Speakers?" He asks, and Carter laughs. "Why don't you show me the problem." He says, as I look at him, and back to Mark, smiling. "Yeah, Mark. Show him the problem." I say, and he smiles back at me, and he walks over to him. "Ok. Come on." He says, beginning to walk off. "Come on?" Carter asks, as they walk off, and I laugh. I pick up my phone, and call Stefan. "Hey." He says. "Hi, where are you? I wanna come see you." I say. "The Wrestling Club's Arm Wrestling, inside the school." He says. "Ok, on my way." I say, and hang up. I arrive to the Wrestling booth, and see Stefan and Damon, and then Tyler and Mason arm wrestling. "Hi, guys." I say, walking over to the left side of Stefan, as he puts his left arm over my shoulders. "So, Mason's back?" I ask, smiling. "How well do you know him?" Stefan asks. "He was my old babysitter. We used to be really great friends." I say, as Mason beats Tyler in Arm Wrestling. "Is that it?" Mason asks, smiling. "All right, he's a champ. Who wants to go next?" Tyler asks. "Uh, Stefan wants a go." Damon says, as we both look at him. "Thanks." "Wow, Damon." Stefan and I both say at the same time, and look back to Mason. "Yeah, sure, I'll, uh. I'll give it a shot." He says, taking his arm from me. "Don't break his hand." I whisper, and he walks over to Mason. "Go, Stef. Get him, Stef." Damon says, sarcastically. "My brother and boyfriend think I can beat you." Stefan says, as they get in position, and they look at us, and Tyler laughs. "You're brother and Ethan are wrong." Mason says, as the bell rings, and they arm wrestle, and Stefan loses, and walks back over to us. "Aw. Isn't he such a nice guy, Damon?" I ask, smiling. "You didn't put in any effort at all." Damon says. "Yeah, actually, I did." Stefan says. "What?" I ask. "Come with me, lovebirds." Damon says, and we follow him. "Is he?" Damon asks. "No, no, no. It wasn't that kind of strength, but it was more than human, if that makes any sense." Stefan says, looking behind him, and back to Damon, as I'm holding his left hand. "What is up with that family? If they're not Vampires, then what the fuck are they?" Damon asks. "Ooh. Uh, maybe they're, uh, Ninja Turtles." Stefan says, as I laugh. "You're not funny." Damon says. "Or, no, Zombies. Werewolves." Stefan says. "No comedic timing at all." Damon says. "Wait.. that's it." I say. "What's it?" They both ask. "Werewolves. Think about it. The Football game, it was a Full Moon, and then another when Tyler made out with Matt's Mom. Anger, Aggression, Full Moon. They're Werewolves." I say, and Damon looks behind him, and back to us. "What? What are you up to?" Stefan asks. "Since this is reality and there's no such thing as Werewolves or Combat Turtles." Damon says. "I said, Ninja Turtle." Stefan says, as Damon walks over to Carter. "He does know I'm smart, right? And that Werewolves and Vampires are natural enemies in every Fantasy movie, at least the ones I've seen." I say. "I need you to pick a fight with someone, kid named Tyler Lockwood." Damon says, compellingly. "Damon, don't do this." Stefan says. "No, no. It's just an experiment." Damon says, waving to us, and puts his hands down. "Get him mad. Don't back down, no matter what he does, ok?" Damon asks, compellingly. "I won't back down." Carter says. "I know you won't." Damon says, and Carter walks off. "You do realize somebody's gonna get hurt, right?" I ask. "No, someone's gonna get mad, as in rage." Damon says, crossing his arms. "And what's that gonna accomplish?" Stefan asks. "That Tyler is incapable of walking away from a fight. Let's see who intervenes. Maybe it's the ambiguously supernatural mystery Uncle." Damon says, and walks off. "Come on, let's go." Stefan says, and we run off. Stefan and I hide behind the bushes, as he has his right hand over my mouth, and Carter shoves Tyler. "Better back off." Tyler says, and Carter pushes him again. "You hit me again, I swear to God." Tyler says, and Carter punches him in the face, and they start fighting, and Mason intervenes. "Oh, my God." I say. "Sh." Stefan says, and kisses my cheek. "What the hell man?" Mason says to Carter, and Carter punches him, and shoves him into the car, as Stefan takes his hand off, and Tyler tackles him, but gets thrown, and Mason jumps over the car, and over Carter, as I'm about to gasp, and Stefan covers my mouth again. "Sh.. it's okay." He whispers in my right ear, and I nod, and they run off, after Mason hit Carter onto the floor, and Stefan runs over to him. We're in Alaric's classroom, talking about Tony being a Vampire now. "How did this happen? Hm?" Stefan asks. "Well, I fed her blood, and Alex obviously killed him, and A plus B equals.." Damon says. "But why?" I ask. "Because Alex is a manipulative, nasty little man slut." Damon says. "And he said, game on? I mean, what does that even mean?" Stefan asks. "It means he's playing dirty. He wants us to know." Damon says. "But why Tony?" I ask. "Ah, I don't know." He says. "Tony must be completely out of his mind. He has no idea what's happening to him." Stefan says, walking around. "Oh, I think he does. All of my compulsion from the past started wearing off the minute he was in Transition." Damon says. "We have to find him." Stefan says. "Yep, and kill him." Damon says. "You're not gonna kill Tony." I say, shaking my head. "He knows who we are. He's officially a liability. We gotta get rid of him." Damon says, as I touch Stefan's right shoulder, and he touches my left shoulder. "Damon, absolutely not." Stefan says. "Need I remind you of a tragic little story of a girl named Vicki Donovan?" Damon asks, smiling. "Yeah. Tony, of all people, will not make it as a Vampire. His Mother's a Vampire Hunter." He says, as I shake my head. "Guys, come on. We all know how this story ends, so let's just flip to the last chapter and." Damon says, as I interrupt him. "It's not an option, Damon." I say. "No? Your silence is deafening, Stefan." Damon says, as I look at Stefan, who has his head down. "Wait. Wasn't there a School Carnival the night you staked Vicki?" Damon asks. "Huh." Stefan says. "Talk about a town where History repeats itself. You know I'm right." Damon says, as Stefan lifts his head up, and walks over to Damon. "We're not gonna kill him." He says, and walks off, and I jog after him. "It's the only way." Damon says. We're walking around, looking for Tony. "You agree with Damon, don't you?" I ask, and he sighs. "Stefan." I say, and he hits a cart, upset, and I look around. "Stefan." I say, as we move away from the crowd. "Hey." I say. "Damon's right, not about what we should do, but about what's gonna happen. Alex all but signed Tony's Death Sentence." He says, and I shake my head. "We can't let it end that way." I say, and he crosses his arms, and sighs. "He's doing this to me, isn't he?" I ask. "Actually, he's doing it to me." He says, and sighs, and looks down, shaking his head, and looks at me. We're walking around more, looking for Tony. "Where could he be?" I ask, and he turns around. "What is it? Do you hear him? What's going on, Stefan? What is it?" I ask. "It's blood. I can smell blood." He says, running off, and I run after him. We see Damon about to stake Tony, and Stefan knocks it out of Damon's hands. "Stefan!" Damon exclaims, as Tony's crying. "Get away from me! You killed me." Tony says, as I notice his mouth is covered in blood. "No, no, no, no, Tony. That wasn't me. You know that. That was Alex." I say. "No! Then why does he look like you? Why. Why did he do this to me?" He asks, crying more, and I touch his right shoulder, and look at Stefan. "Stefan, we gotta get him inside." I say, as Stefan approaches us, without looking away from Damon. "It's all right, Tony. Come with me." Stefan says, extending his hand out, running over to us, while looking at us. "He will die. It's only a matter of time." Damon says, as Stefan takes Tony's left hand. "Yeah, maybe so, but it's nice gonna happen tonight." Stefan says. "Oh, yeah, it is." Damon says, as I get in front of Damon, as he dashes to us, holding the stake above me, and I gasp. "Damon, he's my friend." I say, and he points at me with both index fingers. "Whatever happens, it's on you." He says, walking off, and I turn around. "We gotta get him cleaned up." I say, and see Mark. "Tony?" Mark asks. "It's okay. Come on." Stefan says. "Oh. You're not. You can't. You can't be." Mark says, shaking his hand, and runs over to us, as Stefan lets Tony's hand go, and Mark touches his right hand, and puts his hand down, gasping. "Mark." Tony says, and Mark shakes his head. "I. I." Tony says, and Mark runs off. "Oh, God, Mark." Tony says. "Just.." I say, pushing him towards Stefan, and they walk off, and I wasn't over to Mark, and see Carter's body. "I can't believe this is happening." Mark says, crying. "Come on. Don't pout about it." Damon says, as I see him holding a shovel. "We got a body to bury." He says, and walks over to me. "Thought you were calling the shots. No? Hm. Sucks to be you, buddy." Damon says to Carter, and puts the shovel down, and Damon falls, and I look at Mark, as Damon groans, and a water hose turns on, spraying Damon. "I told you what would happen if anyone else got hurt." Mark says. "I didn't do this!" Damon exclaims, as I look at him, and back to Mark. "Mark, it wasn't his fault." I say, as he looks at me. "Everything that happens is his fault, Ethan." He says, and I look back at Damon. "Mark, what are you doing?" I ask, and hear crackling, and turn around, and see a fire trail heading towards Damon. "Mark, stop it. Mark, Mark, stop it." I say, and Damon groans, and I see him on fire. "Mark, stop it! You're gonna kill him!" I yell, looking at Mark, as Damon screams, and I look back at him, and to Mark. "Mark!" I yell, and run over to him, jumping over the fire, and shake him. "Hey! Mark." I say, and he looks at me, the Spell ending. "What. Why. Why did you stop me?" He asks. "Because this isn't us. Mark, this can't be us. Come on." I say, pulling him closer, and we look at Damon, and turn around, and walk off. I'm by my locker, and hear footsteps. "Hey. Ok." Stefan says, as I look at him. "Tony is okay for now. I'm gonna check in on him later." He says. "But what about the guy that he.." I say, and he sighs. "It's taken care of." He says, nodding. "Damon's right. Isn't he?" I ask, as he looks down, and back up to me. "It won't end well for him." I say, and he shakes his head. "No, I'm gonna make sure that he's wrong." He says, nodding, and I sigh. "I just. I can't believe what this day has turned into." I say, and he sighs. "Not your normal day, huh?" He asks, and I shake my head, looking down, and back up to him. "I was stupid to think that it could be. I mean, nothing about my life is normal. My best friend's a Warlock, my boyfriend's a Vampire, and I have a Doppelganger who's hellbent on destroying all of us." I say, grabbing my bag, shut my locker, and look down. "I'm sorry." He says, and I look up at him, shaking my head. "No, it's not your fault, Stefan. It's no one's fault. You know, it is what it is." I say, and he touches my left cheek. "Hey." He says. "I'm fine." I say, rubbing his wrist, with my left hand. "I'm fine." I say, as tears start to form, and I put my hand down. "It's just.. you know what? I'm fine. I'm. I'm okay." I say, nodding. "I'm gonna call you tomorrow, ok?" I ask, smiling, and he nods. "Goodnight, Stefan." I say, walking off. I'm in my bed, asleep, and feel someone kiss my cheek, and I wake up. "Mm." I say, and look forward, and see Stefan. "Hi. What time is it?" I ask. "It's almost Dawn. Come with me." He says, taking my right hand, and kisses it, and pulls me up, as I get out of bed. We arrive to the Carnival. "Stefan, what are we doing here? We're gonna get caught." I say. "Well, I compelled the Guard to go on Break so I could kiss my boyfriend at the top of the Ferris Wheel." He says, as I look at it, as it turns on, and I give a small laugh, and shake my head, looking at him. "Stefan.." I say. "We have to take these moments, Ethan. All right?" He asks, nodding. "What Alex did to Tony could just be the beginning, and. And then there's things with Tyler's Family that we don't even understand yet." He says. "Werewolves." I say, and he smiles. "Then there's always the D word." He says, and touches my left cheek. "But I came back to this town to start a life with you. We can't forget to live it." He says, smiling more, and I hold his wrist with my left hand, nodding, and look at the Ferris Wheel, and back to him. "Listen, how are we gonna. Oh.." I say. "Guess you'll just have to hold on tight." He says, as we put our hands down, and he wraps his arms over my shoulders, as I hold onto his waist, and we jump up to the very top, and I laugh, looking down, and then to him, as he smiles, touching my left cheek. "What?" I ask, and he shakes his head. "It's just so nice to see you laugh." He says, and I kiss him. "It's not gonna get any easier, is it?" I ask, and he looks forward, down, and then back up to me, and sighs, and shakes his head. "No. It's not." He says.
