It's morning, as I'm in my training clothes, and walk in the kitchen, seeing Alaric looking through the cabinets. "Morning." I say, walking to the fridge. "I thought we had Aspirin." He says. "They're in the vitamins." I say, pointing behind me with my right thumb, and put my hand down, and open the fridge with my right hand, and take out the water pitcher, and turn around, seeing a nearly half empty bottle of whisky and empty glass, as I'm walking to the sink. "You're hungover." I say, smiling, and pour a glass of water. "Yeah, sorry about that. It was a bit of a weird night." He says, and I turn around, holding the water in my right hand, seeing him take Aspirin. "I told you you don't have to feel guilty about inviting Meredith over here." I say. "I know. And I thank you for that. But I do feel guilty for whiskey dialing her at two in the am." He says, and I sigh. "Ohh. No you didn't." I say, shaking my head. "Oh, yes, I did." He says, smiling. "Ohh. Was she cool about it?" I ask. "Well, as soon as these Aspirin kick in and I remember the conversation, I'll let you know." He says, and I chuckle, shaking my head, and hear my doorbell ring, and set the glass down, and we walk to the door, and I open it with my right hand, and we walk outside, and I see the Sheriff. "Sheriff Forbes, hi. Is everything okay?" I ask. "This is an unconventional conversation we're about to have, so I hope you'll protect me on it." She says. "Of course." Alaric says. "I assume you both heard our Medical Examiner was murdered the night of the Wickery Bridge Fundraiser." She says. "Yeah. Brian Walters. Why?" He asks. "We've been investigating. Someone drove this stake through his heart." She says, and holds up an evidence bag with a bloody stake in it, with her right hand, and Alaric takes it with his left, as I have my arms crossed, and we look at it. "It's one of ours." He says, and looks at me. "I mean, this is one of a set from your parents' Lake House." He says. "That's why I'm here. I haven't told anyone, but Forensics ran it for prints and found only one clean set." She says, and I look up at her. "Yours." She says to me. "What?" I ask, and she nods. I'm in the kitchen with Alaric, as he's going through his bag, on speaker phone with Damon. "So you're the prime suspect, huh? I mean, if anyone could get away with murder, it'd be you." He says. "That's what Tony said. We are not letting you testify if needed be. She doesn't think that I did it. She's just trying to find out why somebody used one of my family's weapons to kill a Council Member." I say. "Well, why don't you just ask Ric if his dirty little doctor had access to the weapons." He says. "You're on speaker phone, dick." Alaric says. "I'm just saying, first suspect is usually the right one. Don't get so defensive." Damon says. "Brian Walters was killed days ago, all right? I didn't show Meredith this stuff until last night." Alaric says. "It wasn't Meredith." I say. "But Brian Walters was her ex boyfriend and Ric saw them fighting that night." Damon says. "It's not Meredith. Ok?" I ask, and look at Alaric. "I refuse to believe that your luck with women is that tragic." I say. "Who else knows about your secret little slayer stash?" Damon asks. "Who doesn't? Got weapons everywhere, here, the school, my loft, your car." Alaric says, sitting down. "It's Klaus. Has to be. He's just screwing with us." Damon says. "I wonder if it was Stefan." I say, and Alaric looks at me. "He was crazy that night. You know, he was trying to get underneath Klaus' skin, he was capable of pretty much anything." I say. "Ah, make's me nostalgic for the time when Stefan was a bunny snacking Pacifist. Anyway got to go. More later." Damon says. "Hey, where are you?" Alaric asks. "Tea with an old friend." Damon says. "Elijah?" I ask, and he hangs up. I'm waiting at the front of the entrance for the Cave and see Stefan walk out of it. "What are you doing here?" He asks. "Mark told me that you guys would be here. I need to talk to you." I say, crossing my arms. "Well, there's nothing to talk about. I'm just focused on getting this coffin open." He says, beginning to walk back. "Did you kill the Medical Examiner?" I ask, and he stops, and turns around, looking at me, and scoffs. "Why would you think I did that?" He asks. "Maybe because I don't know what you're capable of anymore." I say, uncrossing my arms. "Well, believe what you want, Ethan." He says, beginning to walk off again. "I don't want to believe any of it, Stefan." I say, and he stops, and looks at me. "But you had to ask me anyway." He says, and I sigh. "Stefan.." I say. "Did you ask Damon.. if he killed anybody lately?" He asks, and I don't answer, and he turns around, and walks off. I'm in the hallway at the Hospital, waiting for Tony, with my arms crossed, and heat footsteps, and look up, and see him, and we begin walking, as he's on his phone. "Yeah, he's not here. He was already discharged." He says, and I uncross my arms. "And she seems perfectly nice, by the way. A little intense, maybe. But I think it's sweet, you wanna make sure Alaric's not dating a total psycho." She says, dialing her Dad. "He's my family. I have to look out for him." I say, and he looks at me. "Sh, sh, sh." He says, and lowers the phone. "What?" I ask. "I hear it." He says, and turns around. "Hear what?" I ask. "My Dad's phone." He says, and walks off, and I follow him, and he opens the Medical Supply door, and we walk in. We walk past shelves, and he runs, and I step forward, and see Bill with a knife in his abdomen, as Tony's crouching next to him. "Oh, my God! Dad! Dad! Dad?! Oh!" He exclaims, and gasps. "Oh, my God." I say. "Don't be dead, don't be dead, don't be dead! Oh, my god!" He exclaims, and pulls the knife out with his right hand, and I look at it. "Dad!" He exclaims. "Tony.. he has Vampire Blood in his system." I say, and he looks at me. "What?!" He exclaims, and we hear Bill wake up, gasping. I walk into the room that Mark and Bill are in, after calling Tony's Mom, and shut the door. "I called your Mom." I say to Tony, as they both look at me. "Thanks." He says. "Bill, did you see your attacker?" I ask. "I didn't see anything. Tried to sneak out the back exit and someone came up from behind. Since when do you care?" He asks. "Oh, trust me. I don't. I just don't like the fact we have a killer on the lose. It's a shame that he or she didn't do the job right." I say. "Ethan!" Tony exclaims. "He tortured you, Tony. I'm not just gonna let that go." I say. "Look, we'll figure this out, but in the mean time we need to get you some blood." Tony says, looking at him. "I'm not going to drink any blood." He says, shaking his head, and Tony looks at me. "You have to." I say, and Tony looks back to him. "You died with vampire blood in your system. If you don't feed and finish the transition into a vampire, then you'll die, and you'll be leaving Tony behind." I say. "I understand how it works. And that's what I'm prepared to do. Now get me out of this hospital. I smell blood everywhere." Bill says, and walks off, and I hear the door open and close, as Tony and I look at each other. It's nighttime, as I arrive home, and see Alaric setting weapons down on the table, as I'm holding the knife I stole from Evidence, wrapped in a cloth, in my right hand. "What are you doing?" I ask. "Taking inventory. Did you bring it?" He asks. "You mean, did I steal evidence from a Crime Scene?" I ask, offering it to him, and he takes it with his right hand. "Yes. I made sure I didn't get caught by any means." I say, and he unwraps the cloth. "You're right." He says, and I nod. "It's a match. This is from a crawl space in the foyer." He says, and sets it down. "Which means Meredith knew where it was." He says, as I have my arms crossed. "That doesn't mean she stole it." I say, and he exhales, and points to wooden stakes with his left hand, walking over to a table, as I look at the stakes. "This is from the loft. These are from the duffel in Damon's car." He says, holding up a wooden stake in his right hand, as I look at him. "Identical to the one that killed Brian Walters." I say. "Damon's car was at the Wickery Bridge Fundraiser. So was Meredith. And that was the night her ex boyfriend, the Medical Examiner, was killed. The one who called her psycho." He says, and I walk over to him. "If she was trying to save Bill Forbes, why would she turn around and try to kill him? If she is our killer, I'm sending her a Fruit Basket." I say. "I don't know what to think, either. You know, but.. we'd be idiots to ignore all these facts. It has to be someone who cares for you and knows what Bill did." He says. "But Brian didn't do anything." I say. "Maybe our killer has a protective personality." He says. "So what should we do now?" I ask, and he walks past me. "Well.." He says, and exhales, picking up the knife with his right hand, as I look at him, walking over to him. "Get this to the Police. Then you should probably be with Tony." He says, and I sigh, and take a step closer. "I'm sorry, Ric." I say, and pat his right shoulder. "Please be careful." I say, and take the knife with my right hand, and walk off. I'm sitting with Tony on the steps of his front porch. "Did you hear back from Tyler yet?" I ask. "No. And I've left messages for him everywhere. So, does Alaric really think that Dr. Fell did it?" He asks. "He doesn't know what to think." I say. "What about you?" He asks, and I chuckle, looking down, and back up to him. "I wish the girl Alaric liked wasn't in the middle of all of this." I say, shaking my head. "He deserves to be happy. But yeah. She looks guilty. That's why I told your Mom." I say, and he looks to his right. "My Mom's in there sitting with my Dad." He says, and chuckles. "And I don't think they've been in the same room this long since I was.. ten years old." He says, and I look down. "Is there any chance that Tyler did it?" He asks, as I look up at him. "What?" I ask. "If Klaus was trying to mess with you, and he's sired to Klaus, and.. I mean, he does everything that he's told." He says. "No. No, I don't think Tyler did it." I say, shaking my head. "Well, I can't just let my Father die. I'm going. I'm going to force him to feed." He says, and begins stammering. "Hey. But he doesn't want to, Tony." I say, shaking my head. "The only thing your Dad has is his choice." I say, amd he chuckles, and begins to cry. "I hated him so much for what he did to me. So much. Now all I want to do is save his life." He says, shaking his head. "Well, of course you do, he's your Dad." I say, and he looks down, and back up to me. "What was the hardest part for you? When you lost your Dad?" He asks. "Realizing all the things that he wouldn't be there for. The things that, um, that you just need your Dad for, you know?" I ask, tearing up, and he nods, and I scoot closer to him, and put my arms around his neck, and he lays his head on my shoulder. "Why do you hate him so much?" She asks. "You already know. It's because of what he did to you." I say. "There was fear in your eyes before he did what he did to me. You know, you can tell me anything." He says. "I know. Ask me tomorrow, ok?" I ask, and he nods, and I rub his shoulders, and look up, and see Matt standing in front of us, and I put my arms down, and Tony and I sit up, and I look at him. "Hey." Matt says. "Hey." Tony says, and stands up, putting his arms around his neck, and Matt's around his waist, and I sigh, and look down. Matt and I soon arrive to my house. "Thanks for walking me home." I say. "Are you doing okay? This has to bring up a lot for you." He says. "We've all lost a lot." I say. "It's this town, it's messed up. None of us should have to live this way." He says, as we walk up the steps to my porch, as we look at each other, and I nod, and open the door with my right hand, and walk in, and turn on the light with my right hand, but the light doesn't turn on. "That's weird." I say. "The electricity must be out." He says, and we walk to my kitchen, and I open a cabinet with my right hand, and pull out two flashlights, and hand him one with my right hand. "Here." I say, and he takes it, and I shut the cabinet, and turn mine on, looking around. "I think I have some candles over there." I say, and walk to the other side of the kitchen, and see a huge pile of blood. "Oh, my God!" I exclaim. "What the hell?" He asks, and I look up with my flashlight, and see a bloody handprint, and we both grab knives, as I transfer the flashlight into my left hand, and look down, seeing bloody footprints, and follow them, looking around, and see a bloody handprint on the glass kitchen door, as I'm breathing heavily. "Vampires I can handle. Serial killers, not so much." I say, and look up the stairs, and see more bloody handprints, and we walk up the stairs, as I'm looking around, and see a body, and notice it's Alaric's, and gasp, and run over to him, crouching down next to him. "Ric! Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god!" I exclaim, and see a knife in his abdomen, and reach for it, and pull, and Alaric screams, and Matt puts his hands on my shoulders, and I look at him. "No, leave it in! Leave it in! He's lost too much blood. I'm gonna call nine one one." He says, as I look at Alaric, and takes his hands off me. "Ric, look at me. Who did this to you?" I ask, touching the right side of his face. "I don't know." He says, and I put my hand down, and see a lot of blood. "Oh, my God! There's a lot of blood, Matt!" I exclaim. "I know! I know, Ethan. I know." Matt says. "You have to kill me." Alaric says. "What?" I ask. "Ethan, you. You have to kill me." He says, and I pick up his right hand with my left, and see the ring. "Wait, wait, wait, Matt, hang up, hang up. He's right. If he dies a supernatural death, then he'll come back to life and he'll be healed." I say, looking at him. "But, how do you know who did this is supernatural?" He asks. "That's what he's saying! We don't, but.." I say, and look at Alaric. "I'm a Doppelganger." I say, and pick the knife up with my right hand. "That makes me.. supernatural." I say. "Ethan, no! This is messed up!" Matt exclaims, and I put my left hand to my forehead, and down, and look at him. "He's dying, Matt!" I yell, and breathe heavily, and look back at Alaric. "I so better not get grounded for this." I say, and stab Alaric in the stomach, and he gasps and groans, and dies. I'm waiting for Alaric to wake up, and hear footsteps. "He's still out?" Matt asks, and I nod, and look at him. "Tony called. His Dad died." I say, looking at him, and he looks down, sighing, and back up to me. "Will you stay with me? Until he wakes up?" I ask. "Of course." He says, and I shake my head, crying. "I can't lose anymore family." I say, shaking my head, and he puts his left arm over my shoulders, and I rest my head of his, and he wraps his other arm around me, rubbing my left arm, as I cry more. I call Damon, put he doesn't answer. I'm on the phone with Sheriff Forbes, standing up, waiting for Alaric to wake up, as Matt's crouching down. "I looked into it, Ethan. Meredith Fell was called into surgery six hours ago. She's been in there ever since." She says. "She has an alibi?" I ask. "Iron tight in an operating room full of witnesses." She says. "Then who could it be?" I ask. "I don't know. But the attack on Alaric makes this the third member of the Founders' Council, and we just cleared our only suspect." She says, and Alaric wakes up, coughing, and groans, and I hang up, and crouch down, and touch both sides of his face, and hold his hands. "Ok. I'm starving. I'm gonna get some food." I say, and walk downstairs, and hear the doorbell ring. "I got it!" I exclaim, and walk over to the door, and open it with my right hand, and see Bill, and he injects me with a needle, and I fall unconscious. I slowly begin to wake up, and realize I have no clothes on, and look up, seeing Bill hovering about me, and I'm about to scream, and he stabs me in the stomach with a knife, and leaves it in there, as I groan, and he covers my mouth with his right hand. "I hate vampires. But I hate you more." He says, and put his left hand to my stomach, and drinks my blood, and looks up at me. "Don't scream." He says, compellingly, and takes his clothes off, and pulls the knife down. "You didn't say anything about yelling. Help!" I yell, and he punches me in the jaw, and I see Klaus rush in, and rip out Bill's heart, as I breathe heavily. "Klaus.." I say, weakly. "Oh, my God, love." He says, and crouches next to me. "You.. found me. How?" I ask. "Tarot Cards and a Locator spell. I'm gonna pull this out on three, ok?" He asks, and I nod, and my eyes begin to fade. "Come on, love. Stay with me. One. Two. Three." He says, and rips the knife out, and bites his right wrist, feeding me his blood, and takes his leather jacket off, covering me up, as my body rejects the blood, and I spit it up. "Klaus.. don't make me go. I don't wanna go." I say, crying, as he lifts me up, and see Damon dash in, as he gasps. "D-Damon." I say, more weakly, as he takes me into his arms, gently. "Bill Forbes didn't have enough time to do what he planned before I ripped his heart out myself." Klaus says. "Damon... it's so.. cold." I say, and see him start crying. "Come on, smartass. Stay with me." He says. "Damon.." I say, and fall, unconscious. I wake up, and see I'm on a cliff, looking out into the sea. "Well, child, you seem to have gotten yourself in a mess." Mark's Grams says, as I look at her, and she smiles at me. "Where am I?" I ask. "Some supernatural creatures find peace. I'm still watching over my Grandchild, and you. But, it's your time." She says, and offers her right hand. "But.. if I do, everyone I care about that's supernatural dies, too." I say, taking her hand, and I see a light, and we walk towards it. "I'm willing to break the rules this time, child." She says, and I hear Damon's voice. "I don't know if you can hear me, but. We need you. I need you. I don't know.. how to live without you. So, keep fighting. Oh, my God. Meredith! Meredith!" He yells, and I hear my heartbeat go down, and stop, and hear a bunch of crying. "No!" I hear Tony and Matt exclaim. "Damon." I say, and we stop walking."It's time for you to go back. Tell Mark I'll always be watching." She says, smiling, and I nod, and she let's go of my hand. "You won't be a Vampire in transition when you wake up, dear." She says, and waves her right hand, and I wake up, gasping, sitting straight up, as someone catches me, and I see it's Damon, and hear everyone sigh in relief. "Is he okay?" Tony asks, and Damon looks at my eyes. "He's.. human." Damon says. "What? How?" Meredith asks. "It was Grams. She fixed me. I saw the light and everything. I heard what you said, Damon. Thank you." I say, and he smiles. "Anytime." He says. "Grams is watching over you, Mark." I say, and he cries, and I look at Tony. "Why didn't you ever tell me?" He asks. "I know how much you cared for him. I couldn't bare to hurt your feelings if you knew the truth." I say, and he hugs my waist, and I hug back with my arms around his neck, groaning a little. "Sorry." He says, releasing me. "Can we go home?" I ask. "Sure." Damon says. I'm at the Salvatore Boarding House Living Room, with a huge red blanket over me, sitting by the fire, staring blankly at it, and hear footsteps. "Here. Drink this. It'll help you sleep." Damon says, putting a warm mug in my hands, gently, and I cry more, and he touches the right side of my face. "Hey. Look at me." He says, and I look down. "Please.. look at me." He says, and I look at him, crying. "You're safe now. Ok? You're safe." He says. "If he hadn't.. Hadn't gotten to me in time. I'd. I'd be.." I say, and he shushes me. "But I did. It's all over now. You're free. Drink the tea, it'll help you." He says. "I don't. I don't want to. I'm not thirsty." I say. "Please?" He asks, and I sip the mug, and it's green tea, and I feel tired. "What did you?" I ask. "Just to help you relax and sleep dreamless." He says, and I fall asleep, but not before feeling him lift my legs up and my arms around his neck. "I got you. You're safe." He says, kissing my forehead.
