I'm at Alaric's apartment in my training clothes, punching and kicking a punching bag, wearing black gloves, and hear footsteps, and see Alaric walk in. "You're gonna put a hole in that thing." He says, and I grunt, kicking it hard with my right foot. "Wanna talk about it?" He asks. "Nothing to talk about." I say, and punch again. "So, uh, what's got you all worked up?" He asks. "I didn't really sleep last night." I say, and grunt again. "Yeah, me neither." He says, and I kick with my left foot. "Probably something to do with dying." He says, and I stop, breathing heavily. "Are you okay?" I ask. "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm fine." He says, holding the punching bag, and I punch with my right hand. "I think the ring, however, is running low on batteries." He says, as I punch with my left hand. "Yeah, its another reason why Jeremy has to get out of town. If those rings have a shelf life, he is not protected, neither are you." I say, and kick the punching bag with all my strength, stepping back, and he groans, and I walk forward. "You okay?" I ask. "Yeah. Nice, nice. You're getting stronger." He says, and I take my gloves off. "I'm just channeling frustration. I need coffee." I say, and turn around and walks over to the coffee machine, and throw my gloves down, and pour myself some coffee with my right hand. "Seems Damon's compulsion worked, Jeremy was packing when I left the house, going on about his new school in Denver." He says. "Have you, um.. talked to Damon today?" I ask, picking up my cup with my right hand after setting the pot back in the machine, looking at him. "No, why?" He asks. "No reason." I say, and sip my coffee. I'm at school, decorating Tony's locker for his eighteenth Birthday. "Hey, sorry I'm late." Mark says, as I look at him, and back to the locker. "I, uh.. I got held up." He says. "It's ok. I just got here too. Can you pass me the balloons?" I ask, and look at the black and blue ballons he's handing me, and take them with my left hand. "Thanks." I say, and look back at tjr locker, adding them, and back to him. "What got you running late?" I ask. "I, uh, was working on some new spells." He says, nodding. "Huh." I say. "You?" He asks. "Working out with Alaric." I say, and he smiles, holding up a huge sign that looks like outer space that says, Happy Birthday, Tony, and I take it. "So, uh.." I say, and put the card it on the locker. "I have something I need to tell you.." I say, and look at him. "And you're not going to like it." I say. "What happened?" He asks. "Jeremy is gonna be leaving town for a while. He'll be staying with some old family friends in Denver until this whole Klaus thing blows over." I say. "Jeremy wouldn't just leave you to deal with Klaus on your own." He says, and I look down, and back up to him. "I know. I asked Damon to compel him." I say. "You what?" He asks. "I know, Mark. But it's not safe for him here anymore. Leaving will give him a better life. The only reason I'm telling you is because I know that you two haven't really worked out your stuff. And I thought that maybe you'd wanna say goodbye." I say. Matt, Mark, and I are waiting at Tony's house for him to walk in, wearing party hats with ballons and the huge Birthday sign, and we hear the door shut, and pop out, yelling, surprise, and we all laugh. "Happy Birthday!" Matt exclaims. "What are you guys doing here?" Tony asks. "Well, you blew off school and missed our, work of Birthday art, so, uh.." I say, as he approaches us, and I take off my black birthday crown, smiling, and put it on him, as he smiles. "Change into warmer clothes, we are going to the Falls. S'mores, Campfire." Mark says, and I smile. "Cake. Peanut Butter Raspberry. Like when we were little. It's also my Bachelor party that you've been dying for me to have." I say, and he laughs. "Except with Tequila, Vodka, and Beer." Matt says, and we all laugh. "And Bourbon." I say. "Ah, thanks, guys, really. Um.. I'm just not really feeling my Birthday this year." Tony says. "I'm sorry, what? You've already claimed your Birthday as everyone's favorite day of the year." Mark says. "Yeah. And now it's just a reminder that, technically, I'm dead. Look, I didn't even like seventeen. And the only point to being seventeen is to get to eighteen. It's a filler year. I'm stuck in a filler year." Tony says. "You're not stuck, Tony." I say, shaking my head. "Yeah, I am, but it's ok. You know, it's all good, I will be fine." He says, shaking his head. But I just need some time to wallow in it." He says, sighing. "Ok. Well, I think I have another idea." I say, smiling. We arrive to the Fell Crypt, as I'm holding the cake in my right hand, and Matt shines his flashlight at it, that he's holding with in his right hand. "There it is." I say, and Mark opens the door. "This is creepy, even for us." He says, and I walk over to the table. "No, Tony was right. Technically, he's dead. Sorry. But you don't need a Birthday, you need a Funeral. You need to say goodbye to your old life, so that you can move on with your new one." I say, and open the cake box, and he gives a small laugh. "Ok. Here lies Tony Forbes." He says, as I pull out candles, and start placing them. "Swimmer, Mr. LGBT Mystic Falls, Second Grade Hide and Seek Champion." I say, smiling at him, and he laughs. "Friend.. Son.." Mark says, approaching him. "Overachiever." Mark says. "Mean boy, sometimes, no offense." Matt says, and Tony laughs. "Ah. No offense." He says. "He was seventeen and he had a really good life. So, rest in peace so that you can move forward. We don't need your human ghost haunting our asses." I say, and we all laugh, and I pick up the cake, and walk over to them. "That's what you really need." I say, and look at Mark. "That's what we all really need." I say, and look back at Tony, and he smiles. "So, Amen or cheers, or what the hell ever." I say, and we all laugh, and Matt drinks from the Tequila bottle, and I look at Mark. "Mark?" I ask, and he closes his eyes, and the candles light up. "Nice." I say, and look back at Mark. "Ok, make a wish." I say, and he closes his eyes, and blows out the candles. "Let's not forget that we also have a soon to be married one in the group." Mark says, walking over to the Champange that I grabbed along the way, and comes back, and hands it to Tony, who pops off the cap, and we all laugh, and he pours four glasses. "Ok. Um.. to you're new insane family. May they not slaughter us all." Mark says, and we all laugh. "To you being the one who saved Klaus' ass." Tony says. "And for the free Champange." Matt says. "So, what's the new name gonna be? I mean, they are the most dangerous creatures in History." Mark says. "Mikaelson. It's going to be Ethan Mikaelson." I say, and we raise our glasses. "To Ethan Mikaelson." We all say, and cling glasses, and drink. We're all eating cake, and Matt takes the bottle of Tequila from Mark, and I take it from him, with my right hand. "Uh, no. I need it more than you do, trust me." I say, and drink some, and see Tony on his phone. "Tony, what are you doing?" I ask. "Hm? Huh? Nothing." He says, and Mark looks at him. "Huh?" I ask. "Hm?" He asks. "Ok, you're a bad sober liar. You're an even worse drunk liar. Spill." I say, and he smiles. "I might have texted Tyler." He says. "Tony." I say, setting the bottle down. "What? I'm delicate." I say, and Mark looks at me. "Give him a break. You can you control what everyone does all the time." He says. "Wow." I say. "Ouch." Matt says. "I'm sorry, I know it's Tony's Birthday and your Bachelor party, Funeral or whatever, but.. I just feel it's really wrong that you compelled Jeremy to leave town." He says. "I'm doing it to protect him, Mark. I want to give him a chance at a half way normal life." I say. "He should be able to choose how he wants to live it. You're taking his choices away." He says. "Mark, you can't tell him." I say, shaking my head. "Why? Are you gonna compel me not to?" He asks. "You know, you guys are ruining a perfect Funeral." Matt says, and Mark sighs, and looks behind him, and back to me. "I'm sorry." He says, and stands up. "I'm just gonna go sleep it off or something." He says, and looks at Tony. "Happy Birthday." He says, and turns around, and walks off. We're all laughing, and hear the door open, and turn around, and see Tyler. "Sorry. I didn't mean to crash the party." He says. "So don't." Matt says, and Tony stands up, and walks over to Tyler. "No. It's, uh, it's ok. Hi." He says. "Can I talk to you for a sec? It's kind of important." Tyler asks, and Tony sighs, looking at me, and back to Tyler, and I turn around, and see them walk off, and I look at Matt. "Are you okay?" I ask. "Yeah. I want him to be happy, you know?" He asks, and sips Tequila, sighing. "It's what I want for all of you guys, in the middle of this crazy life you got stuck living. Tony's a Vampire, Tyler's a Hybrid, Mark's a Warlock, and your a Doppelganger that has to marry one of the most dangerous creatures in the History of Time to save every Supernatural Entity." He says. "Is that how you see it? That we're stuck?" I ask. "I'd say it's attached itself to all of you pretty tight, yeah." He says, and I take the bottle with my right hand. "Mark's right. You know, I have no business messing in Jeremy's head. I just don't know what else to do. He's in danger here. I can't lose anyone else that I love." I say, shaking my head. We're outside looking for Tony, as Matt is shining his flashlight in his right hand. "Tony!" He exclaims. "Great. we've been abandoned. Ok, we're going on a search party, I don't trust that he won't get back together with him." I say. "Tony!" He exclaims, again. "Come on, Tony. We don't have any more drinks! Matt's bring haunted be the Fell ghost. Wohoo." I say, and he playfully nudges my shoulder, and I laugh, and someone knocks him against the Crypt with super speed, as I'm about to scream, and they cover my mouth, and I see it's Stefan, and we dash off. We're in his red car, as I'm in the front seat, and he's driving. "What are you doing, Stefan?" I ask, and my phone rings, and I pull it out of my right pocket, and I see it's Damon, and he takes it with his left hand. "Hello, Damon. He's a little busy right now. Making my next move. Let me ask you something. What's Klaus gonna do if he can't make anymore Hybrids?" Stefan asks, and we look at each other. "What?" I ask, and he hangs up, and throws my phone out the window. "What the hell are you doing? Stefan, let me out of this car. Do you hear me? Stefan, let me out of the car!" I exclaim, and shake my head, and look forward, sighing. "So, what's the plan, Stefan? What's the big move you're making?" I ask, looking at him, and he looks at me. "I took Klaus' family to make him suffer. I'm not going to let him make himself a new one." He says, looking forward. I look forward, and back to him. "So, then what are you going to do, huh? Are you going to lock me in some cave and keep me hostage?" I ask. "Maybe, I'll just turn you into a vampire." He says, looking at me. "Stop the car, Stefan!" I exclaim, and he looks forward. "Stop the car, Stefan!" I yell, and he looks at me, and forward, and pulls his phone out of his right pocket, and puts it on speaker. "Stefan, how nice to hear your voice." Klaus says. "Tell your hybrids to get out of town, Klaus." Stefan says. "Well that's not gonna happen until I get my coffins back." Klaus says. "Ok, well then I'm gonna drive your blood source off Wickery Bridge." Stefan says, and I look at him. "I don't believe you, Stefan. You won't kill him." Klaus says, and Stefan bites his right wrist, and forces his blood down my throat, as I hold his wrist. "No! No! No!" I exclaim, sputtering. "What are you doing?" I ask. "What's going on?" Klaus asks. "I just fed him my blood. No more hybrids if he's a vampire." Stefan says. "You won't do it." Klaus says. "Really? Try me, because your coffins are next to go. Say goodbye to your family Klaus." Stefan says, and speeds up, "Stefan, slow down. Stefan, stop it!" I yell. "Fine. I'll send them away. You win." Klaus says. "Stefan!" I yell, and he speeds up faster. "Stefan! Stefan, stop! Klaus!" I yell. "Stop the car, Stefan!" Klaus yells, and Stefan pushes on the brakes, as we're on the bridge, as I scream, and the car stops. I gasp and breathe heavily, looking forward, and turn to him. I open my door with my right hand, crying, and shut the door, beginning to walk off. "Get back in the car." He says. "Stay away from me." I say. "Ethan, get in the car!" He exclaims, and I stop, and look at him, as he's approaching me. "How could you?! My parents died going over this bridge. I almost died. You knew that. You're the one who saved me." I say, crying harder. "Look, he had to believe that I would do it, all right? Your fear sold it." He says. "Well, what if it hadn't?" I ask. "He did." I say. "Well, what if he hadn't?!" I exclaim. "He did, Ethan! He backed down! He has a weakness! If I know his weakness, I can destroy him!" He yells. "After everything, that's what mattered, destroying Klaus?" I ask, and turn around, walking off some. "Destroying Klaus is all I've left." He says, and I turn around, facing him. "You had me!" I exclaim, and he shakes his head. "I lost you the minute I left town with him. You just haven't let yourself admit that yet." He says. "Is that what you're doing? Trying to make me hate you? Because I could never hate you. No matter how fucking crazy you are." I say. "I don't really care what you think about me any more, Ethan." He says, and turns around, and walks over to his car, opens his door with his left hand, gets in, and shuts it, and drives past me. I arrive home with Damon after he picked me up from the bridge, and we're on my porch. "Thanks for picking me up." I say. "Anytime. You gonna be okay?" He asks. "I'll survive. Somehow, I always do." I say, as we look at each other. "You know, Stefan won this round for us today. He pushed Klaus to the edge and Klaus blinked." He says, and I walk away from him, and face him. "Well, his method sucked ass." I say. "Still, we needed it. Klaus has been calling all the shots, and Stefan beat him at his own game. He was the better villain." He says, and I walk over to him. "Don't sound so impressed." I say, shaking my head. "Well, I can't help but be a little proud." He says, smiling, and touches the left side of my face. "Really, tell me, are you going to be okay?" He asks, and I sigh. "You can't kiss me again." I say. "I know." He says, and I nod. "I can't." I say, shaking my head. "It's not right." I say, and he nods. "It's right. Just not right now. Goodnight." He says, giving a small smile. "Goodnight, Damon." I say, and walk to my door, and open it with my right hand, and walk in, and look behind me, and see Damon walking off, and I close the door. It's the next morning as I'm hugging Jeremy, my arms around his neck, and his on my waist. "You're gonna have to let me go, eventually." He says. "I don't want to. Be safe, okay? Or I swear I will bring a loaded gun and bust you out of a kidnapping." I say, putting my hands on his shoulders, and he laughs, and nods. "Yeah, ok, all right. Alaric's waiting, okay?" He asks, smiling, and begins to walk off, and we hear footsteps, and see Mark. "Good, you haven't left yet." He says. "Hey, what are you doing here?" Jeremy asks, and Mark and I look at each other. "I came to say goodbye." He says, and wraps his arms around Jeremy's neck, and Jeremy's around his waist, and Jeremy looks back to me. "Take care." He says, and kisses my left cheek, and turns around, and grabs his bags, and walks out the door, and looks back at us, smiling, as I have my arms crossed, and he sighs, and I nod. I'm on Wickery Bridge, looking in the water, waiting for Matt, holding White Roses in my right hand, and hear footsteps, and look at him, as he approaches me. "You're not gonna jump, are you?" He asks, and I sigh. "Thanks for coming. I was just thinking about what you said, about us being stuck." I say. "I was buzzed, Ethan. I can't be held responsible for being judgmental." He says. "I do feel stuck, Matt. I feel like.." I say, and look at the water. "I've been holding on to the boy that was supposed to die here with his parents. The boy who had a normal life, and didn't fall in love with vampires." I say. "You're not that boy anymore." He says, and I look at him. "It's ok if you want to let him go." He says. "Is it? Because I feel like I've. I've disappointed him a little, like.." I say, and look back at the water. "Like I've disappointed them, my parents. Here I am marrying an Original, in what, twelve days?" I ask. "My two cents.. as a guy who knew that other boy, you're doing a lot better than you think." He says, and takes some roses from me. "Here lies Ethan Gilbert, a fun and extraordinarily intelligent boyfriend.. and an amazing friend." He says, and I smile, and he throws the roses into the water, as I look at it.
