I'm headed to the door, as I'm leaving for school. "Come on, Jeremy. Going to school. Walking out the door now." I say. "You forgot this." Jenna says, handing me a notebook, and I smile at her. "Thanks." I say, and open the door, and look forward, and see Uncle John. "Ethan." He says, smiling. "Uncle John. Hi." I say. "Jenna." He says. "John. You made it." She says, and I look at her. "Said I'd be in by noon." He says, and walks past me. "Oh, what you say and what you do are typically two very different things." She says, as I turn around, and see Jeremy walking down the stairs. "Uncle John. What's up?" Jeremy asks. "Hey." John says, as I look down, and feel Jeremy walk out the door. "I have some business in town." John says, as I look at him. "I thought a visit was in order." He says. "How long are you staying?" I ask. "I don't know yet." He says, shaking his head. "Hm. Ok. Well, I'm gonna go to school." I say, and turn to Jenna. "I'll see you later." I say, smiling, and walk out the door, and look back at Jenna, and forward, and walk off. I'm with Matt by his locker. "He said his trip is open ended." I say. "Uncle John. I never really liked that guy." He says, and I sigh. "Does anyone?" I ask. "I am here for Moral support if you need me." He says, and looks into his locker. "Thanks. I think I'll suffer this one alone. You've been through enough." I say, and he looks at me. "Thank you, by the way, for just. For everything you did at Vicki's Funeral and her Memorial." He says, as I shake my head, with my arms crossed. "I couldn't have done it without you." He says. "Of course, Matt." I say, and he looks back at his locker. "So is Tony still baking for you guys around the clock?" I ask, smiling. "She finally went to her Dad's, which is a good thing, because my Mom was gonna strangle her if she dropped off more Lasagna." He says, looking at me, and closes his locker, and we walk off. "Oh." I say. I'm in Alaric's classroom standing up, as he's sitting on his desk. "I made a copy of a Paper that Jeremy wrote for me." He says, and I look at him, as he's holding a paper. "I think you should take a look at it." He says, handing me the Paper, and I look at the title. Fact or Fiction: The Truth About Vampires in Mystic Falls. "Jeremy wrote this?" I ask. "He's very clear that he didn't think it was real." He says. "I really hope you're right." I say, shaking my head, and look up at him. "Because I've done so much to protect him from all of this." I say, and he takes the Paper, and sets it down, and sighs. "So how do you deal with it?" He asks, and I shake my head. "What do you mean?" I ask, and he looks to the left, and back to me. "I don't know, with all the Lies and the Secrets. You have to lie to everyone who's important to you." He says. "It's not safe for them to know the truth, so, yes, I keep it from them, but it's only because I love them." I say, and he nods, and looks down, raises his head up, and stands up, walking behind his desk, as I look at him. "I think Stefan's a good guy, but, uh.." He says, looking down. "At the end of the day, he's still a vampire." He says, and looks up at me. "I know it's hard to understand." I say, nodding. "But Stefan's different. He would never do anything to hurt me." I say, shaking my head. It's nighttime, as I'm laying down on the end of my bed, facing Stefan, as he's sitting in front of me. "Why would he write a report on Vampires?" I ask, and he sighs. "Do you think he's starting to remember?" I ask, and he looks at me. "Damon took away those memories. You don't have to worry about that." He says, and I give a small smile, and he touches the right side of my face with his left hand. "Tell you what. Why don't you just ask him?" He asks. "I. I can't." I say, shaking my head, and he takes his hand down. "Why not? I mean, I'd he doesn't know anything, then it's just an. An innocent question." He says, and I shake my head. "I don't even know how to talk to him anymore. I mean, we used to be a lot more open with each other." I say, and sigh, and close my eyes, and open them. "But now, with all these secrets just piling up.." I say, and he looks down, nodding, and looks back at me. "You know, I haven't even told him that I'm adopted yet." I say, and he looks down, nodding, and back to me. "Maybe it's time you start opening up to him again." He says, and I nod. "I'm not saying you should tell him everything, but at least try to find out what he does know and be prepared for it." He says. "What about you? How are you doing?" I ask, touching his left shoulder with my right hand. "I'm much, much better." He says, smiling. "Yeah, I'm. I'm still, you know, a little, uh. A little jittery, a little bit on edge, but, uh.." He says, as I put my hand down, and sit up some, moving closer, and put my hand on his shoulder again. "I'm. I'm gonna be okay." He says, nodding and smiles. "I've been really worried about you." I say, and he looks down, nodding, and back up to me. "And I missed you." I say, and he looks down, as I touch both his shoulders, rubbing them. "I just needed to lay low for a little while." He says, and looks up to me. "And, ub, let my body readjust." He says, and I nod, and he smiles. "It's only been a few days." He says, getting closer to me, and I do too. "It feels like a lifetime." I say, smiling, and peck his lips, and he runs his hands through my hair, and down my left cheek. "I've missed you, too." He says, and nods, and I kiss him, and it's passionate. He lifts my legs up, and pushes us to the bed, and throws one of my pillows to the ground, and we make out, and I get on top of him, and our hands intertwine, and he gets on top of me, and kisses me, and clenched his teeth, after moving back some. "Stefan, what's wrong?" I ask, and he breaths heavily. "Stefan." I say, and see veins start to form under his eyes, and his eyes start turning red, and I gasp, and he flys backwards against my wall, falling down, as I sit up, and my lamp falls, shattering, and I gasp, and he groans, clenching his teeth, and his face goes back to normal. It's the next day, as I'm running to the door, and look behind me, and open it, and look forward, and see Damon. "Oh, good. You're here." I say. "You ask, I come." He says, walking in, and smiles at me, and I shut the door. "I'm easy like that." He says, and I put my right index finger to my lips, and we look at Jeremy eating, and put my hand down, and touch his arm with my right hand, and put my hand down, walking up the stairs. "No, Ethan, I will not.." He says, dramatically, as I stop, looking at him, and walk down to him, and grab his left hand. "Go your bedroom with you." He says, dramatically, as we go up the stairs. He opens my bedroom door, and walk in, after I let go of his hand. "Ah.. just like I remembered." He says, as I'm looking behind me, and face him, shutting my door. "Stop messing around." I say, and he walks over to my bed, and grabs my stuffed owl, and lays on my bed. "You know, did you know that your Uncle's been kicking it with the Founder's Council?" He asks. "What?" I ask. "Yep." He says. "Perfect." I say, fake smiling. "We'll just add it to the growing list of how everything's falling apart." I say, crossing my arms. "What happened right there?" He asks, looking behind me, and I look to my left, and see the broken lamp. "Uh, nothing." I say, looking back at him, and he glares at me, and I approach him. "Look, Damon, I. I'm worried about Stefan. He says that everything's okay, but he's clearly struggling." I say, sighing, after putting my arms down. "How long is it gonna take before he's back to normal?" I ask. "Few days, give or take." He says. "It's been a few days." I say. "Give, then. I don't know. What's the big deal?" He asks, getting out of my bed, and stands up. "He's not himself, Damon." I say, and he walks past me, handing me my stuffed owl. "Well, maybe his problem is he's spent to long not being himself." He says, and I throw my stuffed owl onto my bed, and he opens my drawer, and I look at him, and sigh, as he's holding my black underwear, and I grab it, putting it back in the drawer, and shut it, and look at him. "Please don't make me sorry for asking you." I say. "It is what it is, Ethan." He says, picking up a picture of me as a kid without glasses. "Hey!" I exclaim, reaching for the picture, and he walks off. "The Stefan you know was, good behavior, Stefan. Reign it in, Stefan. Fight against his nature to an annoyingly obsessive level, Stefan." He says, as I have my arms crossed. "But if you think there's not another part to this." He says, and I put my arms down, and walk over to him. "Then you have. I been paying attention." He says, clicking his tongue, and I grab the picture. "He's not you, not even cloae." I say, walking back to my mirror. "Well, he doesn't want to be me." He says, walking to me, as I stop, and look at him. "But that doesn't mean deep down he's not. Mhm." He says. I knock on Jeremy's door, and open it, as I see him, writing. "Hi." I say. "What's up?" He asks. "Do you have some time to talk?" I ask. "Uh, yeah, sure." He says, and turns around, looking at me. "Not here. Come on. Let's get out of the house." I say, smiling, and he sighs. Jeremy and I are walking by the lake, wearing our matching Owl Hoodies. "I just can't believe Mom and Dad never told you that you were adopted." He says. "I'm sure they would have eventually." I say. "Why were you worried about what I thought?" He asks. "Because. I don't know. It's weird.. going you're whole life thinking you're related by blood to someone." I say. "Does it bug you that we're not?" He asks, as I'm looking down, and look back at him. "No. Jer.. you're my brother. That's all that matters." I say, and he smiles, and I look forward. "So Mr. Saltzman said you've been doing great in History now." I say, as we look at each other, and I smile. "Yeah. Yeah, he's really been helping me out. He gave me some Extra Credit and stuff." He says, as I look down, and put my hands in my hoodie pockets. "He loved your Vampire Paper." I say, looking up at him. "Yeah, he thought I had a clever angle." He says. "What drew you to that subject matter?" I ask, as he looks forward, and back to me. "Uh, I don't know. Um, boredom." He says, smiling, and looks forward. "Or maybe I'm just as nuts as the long line of Gilbert Crazies." He says, looking up at me, smiling, and I give a small laugh. "The Gilberts aren't crazy." I say, smiling, looking forward. "Ah, easy for you to say. You're not one." He says, jokingly, as I look at him. "Ouch." I say, smiling, and I playfully push him, and we both laugh. I arrive to the Founder's Party, looking around, as I'm in a white formal long sleeve, and look up, and see Stefan, waving with his left hand, holding a drink in his right, and puts his hand down, and I walk over to him. "Hi." I say, as he raises his glass, puts his hand down, as I smile at him. "Hey. How are you?" He asks, and holds my waist with his left hand, kissing my cheek, as I laugh, and he puts his hand down. "Are you drunk?" I ask, and he looks at the other drinks. "Um.." He says, and looks back to me. "Ok, I know it's a little weird, but it's really helping me." He says, and looks back at the drinks. "The Alcohol, it, uh.." He says, and looks at me. "Takes the edge off." He says, nodding. "You're totally that Drunk High School guy at the party sneaking Booze." I say, and he nods. "I totally am. Yeah." He says. "How worried do I need to be?" I ask. "Oh, no. You don't need to be worried. It's just until, um, the Cravings go away." He says, and I nod. "Listen." He says, touching both my arms. "I think we enjoy it while it lasts. Would you like to dance with me?" He asks. "You hate Dancing." I say, smiling. "I usually have to beg you." I say. "No, no, no. You have to beg the Sober me. The Drunk me, there's no begging necessary." He says and I look to the right, holding his right hand with my left. "There's really no one dancing." I say, looking at him. "That's because they need something better to dance to. Be right back." He says, and lets my hand go, and walks off. "Yeah, that's not gonna work." Kelly says, as I look at her. "I already tried to bribe the guy with twenty bucks and a date." She says, and I look back at Stefan. "He said Carol Lockwood has complete control over the music choices." She says. "You'd be surprised what Stefan can do when he puts his mind to it." I say, and a fast song comes on, and I look at her, smiling. "Thank God." She says, and walks off, and I look back at Stefan, and he looks at me, and walks off, dancing. "Have I entered an Alternate Universe where Stefan is fun?" Damon asks, as I look at him, and look back at Stefan, dancing with Kelly. "Is he gonna be okay?" I ask. "Eventually." He says, and I look at him. "One way or another." He says, and I look back at him. I'm with Jenna, as we're laughing, and I look up, and see Alaric. "History teacher, three o'clock." I say. "How do I look?" She asks. "Beautiful." I say, and she smiles at me. "Ah, I been looking for you." Alaric says, as we look at him. "Here I am." She says, as I look down, smiling, and back up to her. "I haven't seen you in a while." She says. "Yeah." He says, and looks at me. "Well, uh." He says, and I smile, and he looks back at Jenna. "Things have been a little crazy." He says, giving a small laugh. "But I'm here now. Do you wanna get a drink?" He asks. "Sure." She says. "Ok. Great." He says, looking at me, and back to her, and they walk off. "When did this happen?" Matt asks, as I look at him. "DJ had a change of heart." I say, smiling. "Wanna dance?" He asks, smiling. "I don't know." I say. "Yes." He says, smiling, and takes my right arm, as I put my left on his right shoulder. "Matt. Matt." I say, smiling. "Yes. Come on." He says, smiling, and we begin dancing. He goes off to dance with some girls, as I smile, and turn around, and see Stefan. "Please dance with your Alcoholic Vampire Boyfriend." He says, and I smile more, and put my hands in his, and he takes my right hand, and spins me, and pulls my back to his chest, as I look at him, gasping, as he smiles, and spins me, and I bump into someone. "Ohh. Oh." I say. "Watch it, asshole." He says. "I'm sorry. My fault. I'm clumsy." I say, and he laughs. "Then get off the Dance floor." He says. "Excuse me? And did you just call me an asshole?" I ask. "That's not way to talk to him." Stefan says, getting in front of him. "Whatever." The guy says, and begins to walk off, and Stefan grabs his right arm with his right hand, and pulls him back. "I think you need to apologize." Stefan says, compelling him, and the guy looks at me. "I'm sorry." He says, and looks back to Stefan, and lets him go, and he begins to walk off again, and Stefan grabs his arm again. "Now say it like you mean it." Stefan says, compelling him, and the guy looks at me. "I'm really, really sorry." He says. "Stefan, it's fine." I say, and Stefan shoves him. "Now walk away." He says, and the guy walks off, and I touch Stefan's left arm with my right, and he looks at me, and I put my hand down, and he touches the right side of my face with his left hand. "You all right?" He asks, and I nod, and he puts his hand down. I soon meet up with Damon at the bar, as he's drinking Bourbon, and I grab some peanuts. "Have you noticed what your brother's been up to?" I ask, and eat them. "Nope. Been too preoccupied with yours." He says, and I look at him. "Jeremy's been asking questions about Vicki Donovan's death." He says. "He knows her death was ruled an overdose." I say, and pick up some more peanuts. "Really? Oh, but, Sheriff, someone buried her. Who would do that?" He asks, and raises his right hand. "I know. I know. Me." He says, and I eat my peanuts. "I mean, I could compel him, but he's wearing Vervain." He says. "No. I don't want you to compel him." I say. "If he keeps asking questions.." He says. "Damon, no. I'm serious." I say, shaking my head, and he sighs, looking forward. "I'm not gonna do that to him again. I'll handle it." I say, and pick up a piece of Pineapple, and eat it, and he sighs. "Ok. Don't say I didn't warn you." He says, handing me a black rose, and I look at him, and he walks off. I find Jeremy on a couch near a fireplace. I walk over to him, and sit next to him. "Jer. I, um. I heard about your conversation with Sheriff Forbes." I say. "No one is trying to figure out what happened to her. They're all willing to believe she ODed." He says. "The Coroner's Office confirmed it. If that's what they said happened, then." I say, and he interrupts me. "Is that what you believe?" He asks. "What do you think happened?" I ask. "I think somebody killed her and buried her body." He says, and I look to my left, and back to him. "And I don't think we should write it off just because it's easy." He says. "They're just doing what they can to move on." I say. "The truth is the only thing that's gonna help people move on." He says. "Jer, just. Just let it go. Okay? Whatever it was, she's gone now." I say. "Whatever it was? So you don't think it was an Overdose." He says. "Yes. I do." I say. "Is there something you're not telling me?" He asks, and I look forward. "Why aren't you looking at me?" He asks, and I look at him. "Stop it. That doesn't mean anything." I say. "If there was something else, you would tell me, right?" He asks, and I nod. "Of course I would." I say. I'm walking around, and see Matt. "Who knew I'd be missing all the fun at the Founder's Parties?" He asks, smiling at me. "This is rare. Believe me." I say, looking forward, as we walk. "Is it bad that I'm, uh, enjoying myself?" He asks, and I look at him. "No. It's great that you're enjoying yourself. Thanks for making me dance." I say, smiling, and touch his right shoulder with my left hand. "Hey, not a problem." He says, hugging me, and I hug back. "Air." He says, laughing, as we release. "Air. I need some air. Um, come with me?" He asks, and I look to my left, and see Stefan, and look back at him. "Sure." I say. "You haven't seen my Mom, have you?" He asks, and I look back at Stefan. "Um, no. Not in a while." I say, looking at Matt, and shake my head. "All right." He says, and we begin to walk off, as I look back at Stefan, and look forward, as I open a door, and walk through it, and down the steps, and see Tyler and Kelly making out. "Oh, my God." I say, and look at Matt, and he walks over to Tyler, and pulls him off. "What the fuck are you doing, man?!" Matt yells. "Matt." Kelly says. "Mom!" Matt yells. "Woah. Dude, calm down." Tyler says, holding his hands up, and Matt punches him in the face. "Matt!" I yell. "No!" Kelly yells, and Tyler punches Matt, and Kelly falls into a table, and I gasp, and Tyler begins beating Matt. "Stop it! Tyler, Stop it! You're hurting him." I say, and walk over to Tyler, as he begins choking Matt, and I punch Tyler in the face with my right hook, knocking him off Matt, as he stumbles back and falls, and Alaric walks in, and Tyler gets up again, and runs towards Matt and I, and Alaric pins him against the wall, and I run over to Matt, and help him up. "Come on. Are you okay? You're okay." I say, as he coughs, and help him over to a chair, and touch his face, as it's bleeding. "Are you okay?" I ask. "Where is she?" He asks, and I look around, shaking my head, and don't see her. "I don't know. Come on. Put your head up." I say, holding his head up. I'm outside, looking for Stefan. "Stefan?" I ask, and turn around, and see someone on the ground. "Stefan." I say, running, and look behind me, and forward. "Hi. Hi, are you okay? What happened?" I ask, and he groans, and I see it's the guy from the dance floor. "My arm. I lost my balance and fell. I'm clumsy." He says, and I look around, and sigh. I'm walking up the stairs with Jenna. "Not so excited that we have another month of these Founder's Day Events." She says, and I sigh. "Tell me about it." I say, and she walks off, as I go to Jeremy's room, and stop at his door. "You okay?" I ask. "Fine." He says, putting a book down. "Are you sure?" I ask. "I'm fine, Ethan." He says, and I walk off to my room, and close my door. I take my shirt off, and grab a black one, and put it on, and see Stefan in the mirror, and gasp, and look at him. "Oh, my God. You scared me." I say. "Sorry. I'm sorry that I. I ran off earlier." He says, and I walk over to him, as he looks down. "What happened? Is everything okay?" I ask, and he takes a deep breath, and chuckles, and looks up at me. "Uh.. no." He says, and looks down. "Talk to me." I say, and he looks up at me, and I look to my right, and run to the bathroom door, and close it, and run back over to him, as he's sitting on the bed. "Stefan, tell me." I say, and he looks down, and back up to me. "I tried.. so hard to keep it together tonight." He says, and sighs, and looks down, and I nod, and he looks back up to me. "And it was working. It was working. Uh, but. But then Matt's Mom, she, uh." He says, and looks down, and back up to me. "Got hurt, and she was bleeding, and I had her. Her blood on my hands." He says. "And then what happened?" I ask. "And then that. That guy in the Parking Lot, I wanted to feed on him, and it took everything inside of me not to do it." He says. "But you didn't?" I ask. "No, but I wanted to." He says, and I look down, and he sighs. "God. Ethan, I. My. My head is pounding, I feel like my. My skin is on. Is on fire." He says, as I look up at him. "I have this hunger inside of me that I've never. I've never felt before in my entire life, and all I keep thinking about is how I promised that I would never keep anything from you, and so I'm telling you this." He says, and looks down. "That's okay. I need you to tell me these things." I say, and he looks up at me. "But I don't want you to see me like this. I don't want you to know that this side of me exists." He says, and looks down. "Stefan, you're gonna get through this. I'm gonna help you pull through. It's gonna be okay." I say, and crouch down, looking at his face. "You're gonna be okay." I say, touching his face. "No, no, no, no, no, no." He says, standing up, as I put my hands down, and turn around, looking at me. "No, I'm sorry. I. I can't." He says, shaking his head. "I. I'm afraid of what I could do to you." He says. "I'm not." I say, and walk over to him, as he turns to the right, and I touch his right cheek with my left hand. "Stefan. Stefan, I'm not." I say, and kiss him. "I'm not, okay?" I ask, softly, and he cries, and I wrap my arms around his neck, and we rest our heads on each other's shoulders. "I love you so much." He says. "Oh, I love you, too." I say.
