Chapter 29

"Players," said a voice over the intercom, "You have twenty seconds to find a hiding spot. On your marks, get set, go!"

The seven women ran as fast as they could and dove behind the trees on the first level. Rose looked around the room that was illuminated by a dim black-light and saw some movement behind the trees when the voice came over the intercom again, "each member will be in the game until they are shot four times. Then the first player will leave the arena and watch from our lounge room, all the other players advance to the second lever. The same will happen on the second level, the first person to get hit four times will go to the lounge and watch as the other players advance to the third level. The pattern will continue until there is only one player left. Good luck."

Rose smiled to herself and watched as the woman moved around the arena.

Rose aimed her gun and fired as she heard someone curse. The scores came up on the board at the far end of the room.

Rose laughed as she saw the names everyone had chosen for themselves and watched as the figure she assumed was Skye, retreat. Rose turned her head and sat down in a small hole by the tree she was hiding behind. She aimed her gun as she saw someone else move and she fired, but she missed. Then the score came up,

Rosebud: 1

Blackwidow baby: 0

SaltandPepper: 0

OverHill: 0

MelindaMaybeatyouall: 0

Jem'sthebest: 1

Rose sighed as she noticed that she was hit. She fired again at the person who fired at her and hit her twice.

SaltandPepper: 2

Pepper swore and ran away before she was hit again. Rose laughed at her success and sat quietly as she waited for more unsuspecting people to walk past her.

She didn't have to wait long, before she knew it, May walked past her and Rose fired.

MelindaMaybeatyouall: 2

May looked down at her vest and ran before she got hit again.

Rose laughed and decided to finally move from her hiding spot. She got up and slowly walked towards a fake bridge, deciding to hide under it as more people crossed it.

She slipped under and saw someone else sitting there. She shot her gun four times and the woman swore as the voice over the intercom announced, "SaltandPepper, please return your gun and vest to the counter and be seated in the lounge."

Pepper got up and shook hands with Rose, "good game, and congratulations by the way."

Rose laughed, "thanks."

The lights turned back on and the women moved to the second level, the medieval castle.

Skye moved behind one of the Knights that was on display, matching his position perfectly so that no one would see her. She rested the tip of her gun on the knight's shoulder and waited for someone to run past her.
