(Paisley's POV)
"My... my parents... are dead." Bonnie fumbled.
~~~~~~~~
"Wait, what?" I quivered.
"My parents... the police called me. The said they needed me to come down to the station, because of my parents." Bonnie spouted out.
It could be anything. They could have just had a fight. Or are missing. That doesn't necessarily mean they are dead.
"Would you like me to come with you." I asked her.
She looked up from twiddling with her thumbs. I felt a touch on my shoulder. JJ. I turned around and shock my head, telling him to not come.
"Will you, please?" Bonnie pleaded.
Bonnie's phone began to ring. The police calling her again. They must want us to hurry up.
"We have to go." Bonnie pulled my arm, and dragged me out of the room.
Bonnie pulled me to her car, and locked me in once I found the seat. She seems like she is going insane, but she is just paranoid.
She zoomed out of my driveway, and sped down the road. Soon we were half way across town when I remembered, I forgot my phone.
Oh well. Bonnie has her phone. I can call mom from there on her phone.
Soon enough, we had arrived at the police station. The cops were surrounding us as we entered the doors.
"Are you Bonnie Potter?" one of them asked.
"I am. What is the problem?" Bonnie replied, trying not to sound weak.
"We have something to tell you... about your parents." the officer told her.
"They're dead, aren't they." Bonnie snapped.
"Your father is in critical condition. Your mother is dead though." Her facial expression did not change. She did not care for her parents much. They had beaten her. They had ignored her for half her life. She was sexually abused by her father, and her mother said nothing about it to the police. She just didn't want to be put into foster care.
"How did this incident happen?" I spoke.
"They were in a severe car crash. your father is paralyzed. Even if he survives, he will not be able to do anything." the officer replied.
"Bonnie, tell them." I whispered.
She shock her head. "Tell them!" I whispered again, doubling the loudness of it.
"Tell us what?" the officer interrupted.
"Fine, I'll tell them. Since you won't. It's for your own good." I looked away from Bonnie, and faces the officer to say, "She was beaten, sexually abused, and her mother didn't do anything about it." I spat.
Bonnie wouldn't look up. She wouldn't tell them, so I had to. Anything to get her away from that lousy excuse for a father. He doesn't deserve such a wonderful daughter like Bonnie. If it was my decision, Bonnie would have been adopted by my family years ago.
"Really?" the officer said. "If that is the case we need to have you answer some questions. Do you have anywhere to stay tonight?" he questioned.
"She's staying with my family and I." I answered for her.
"Do you mind calling your parents. We have some questions for them." he more less ordered, instead of asking.
"I will call my mother." I said, grabbing Bonnie's phone out of her pocket.
I dialed my mom's number. Asked her to come down to the station. I didn't tell her that they wanted to ask her questions though. If I did, my step Father would have refused to let her go without him.
~~~Twenty minutes later~~~
"I'm here!" my mom yelled from the door, rushing over towards Bonnie and I. Hugging us both. Bonnie is already considered a daughter to my mom.
"Ma'am, we have some questions to ask you." the officer interrupted our hugging session.
"What for?" my mom asked.
"Seeing as this girl is under the age of eighteen, she will need a legal guardian or she will be put in foster care." he responded.
I shuddered. The thought of Bonnie being taken away from me, makes my ill.
"I will be her legal guardian. She is already a daughter to me." my mom protested.
I began to shudder less. There is still a chance she will be put in foster care.
"You will need to sign papers, and there will need to be a father figure." the officer continued.
"I will have to call my husband,"
~~~ many minutes later~~~
"Sir you will need to sign these papers to obtain custody over Bonnie Potter." the officer handed my step Father a pen, for him to sign the legal guardian paperwork.
Micheal, my step Father signed the papers, along with my mom.
"Thank you." Bonnie whispered.
"You are now the legal guardian of Bonnie Potter. Congratulations. Bonnie still has questions to answer, but you two may go now." he told my mom and Micheal.
"Thank you so much!" Bonnie clinged to my mom and Micheal. A small smile began to grow on my face. Seeing my new and improved family brings me the slightest joy in this situation.
"Bonnie, you need to come with me. You stay out here." the officer pointed to me, interrupting their group hug.
"No! Paisely has to come with me." Bonnie ran over to me like a little girl and hugged my arm.
"Fine. But stay quiet." he motioned Bonnie and I to a room where the police interrogated my best friend. And now legal sister.
They asked her questions like 'Tell me about the abuse.' Or 'What did you do to get away?' Bonnie just gave the basics. She didn't want to spill all her secrets to the police.
She was free to go when they told her that Larry Potter, her biological father would be sentenced to ten years in prison if he was still alive to be at the trial.
We went home and crashed on my bed. We will need a bigger house. Since my mom is already pregnant with twins and now Bonnie. The family is expanding more than I had anticipated.
