(Bonnie's POV)
It is the last day of July. In ten days, Paise and I will officially be eighteen. We will finally be able to get those matching tattoos that we have wanted for years, but our parents told us no. We will be that much closer to graduating high school, and off to college. We will finally be out of this dead town. Nothing good ever happens here.
I can't wait to leave this town. Explore other parts of the country. Of the world maybe. I have always wanted to study abroad. Meaning out of the country. Maybe England. Oxford would be a dream come true. Anywhere away from the horrid memories of my past. But on another note, I don't want to leave momma. And Michael, and Peyton, Liam, or even Joey.
I don't want to leave my new family. But when the time comes, I will have to go on my own, no matter how much I don't want to leave. speaking of leaving, I have to go wake up Paise. We are leaving in an hour so we can go see her dad in Lansing.
"Paisley?! You up?!" I shouted from outside her bedroom door.
"What do you want?!" she hollered back. Yep! She was up.
"You need to get ready. We have to leave for your dad's in an hour," I said, opening the door.
"Yeah I know," she snapped.
"This was your idea. You're the one who wants to spend time with your father," I snapped back.
"I know that Bonnie! I just don't want to leave yet!" She yelled at me.
"Why not?!" I hollered.
"Because.... I'm not ready to meet my step mom," she calmed her voice.
"Why. You don't know what she is like?" I asked.
"No. I know what she is like. Joey told me. I heard she is a real royal bitch," she replied.
This was getting harder and harder to complete. If I can't get her to leave, how will I get her to stay at her dad's for the weekend? She needs to leave town sometime this summer. She has been home all summer, other than the dates she has with JJ. But he normally comes here because she is watching the twins. It is nice of him to stay here and help. But they need to get out more.
"Would you like me to stay with you this weekend? We need to spend more time together," I suggested.
"Really!? You would stay with me?!" she sprung out of her seat. I could see she was already dressed.
"Yes. But you have to promise me one thing...." I started.
"What?" she replied.
"You have to promise me that you will give me your phone for the weekend. You will experience actual nature this weekend," I stated. She does need to be off her phone for a little while.
"Bu-" she started to say before I cut her off.
"But Nothing! You will be off your phone, computer, and Ipod for the entire weekend.
"But what if JJ calls?" she pouted.
"Then I will talk to him," I crossed my arms.
"Oh fine," she whined.
I grabbed her phone off of the night stand, and dragged her out to the car. I snatched her packed bag, us before we left the house.
The drive to Paisley's father's house was long and awkward. There was no conversation. Only the sound of the radio kept us from complete silence.
"Turn, left.... Now!" Paisley shouted as we reached her father's street.
I quickly took the turn onto the gravlely road. There was only two houses on this road. I remember Paisley telling me that his house was the gray house on the left. It was on a lake that I did not know the name of. I am guessing it is a lake only the people of Lansing would know.
"I just hope she isn't as bad as Joey described," Paisley sighed.
We both got out of the car, grabbing our bags, and walked up to the house.
(Paisley's POV)
Bonnie and I walked up to the lake house. I still wonder how dad could afford this house. The flowers around the house were bright and blooming. She is defiantly the type of wife that enjoys planting.
As I reached the door, I simply knocked in a rhythmic tone. I waited for a while, outside the door. Hearing the door unlock, I straightened up my posture, and cleared my throat so I don't sound froggy when I speak.
"Hello?" My dad's wife, Kristina spoke as she opened the door.
"Hi! You must be Kristina. I'm Paisley," I said, offering my hand for her to shake it.
"Dave! I think there is someone here to see you!" she hollered into the house. My dad really hasn't told her about me?
"Who is i- Paisley! You came! Come in, come in," my dad motioned for Bonnie and I to come in.
I took up the offer. Bonnie and I brushed past Kristina, and into the living area where my dad was sitting in a lazy boy, reclining chair.
"I didn't know you were coming this weekend," he pointed out.
"I thought I told you that I needed a vacation, so you suggested that I come out here for the weekend," I stated.
"Oh... right. Well I'm glad you came," he said.
Kristina came over to us with a confused look on her face. I guess she doesn't know who I am. So much for believing my dad missed me.
"Tina, this is my daughter Paisley, and her best friend Bonnie," Dad introduced us.
"This is your daughter? I thought she was older. How old are you? Like fifteen," she chuckled. Why does everybody assume that?!
"Uh, actually I am turning eighteen in ten days. I understand, I look younger than I am," I stated.
"Oh. Sorry," she put her face down. Ha! Why does my dad have to go for women that are ten years youger than him?
"Um, where is the guest room? I need to use the restroom," Bonnie asked.
"Follow me," Kristina said to the both of us.
Bonnie and I followed her to a room on the other side of the house. I am guessing that the master has it own part of the house. This guest room was huge. The window gave a gorgeous view of the lake. The bathroom had a spa bath, and a walk in shower.
"Paisley? Would you and Bonnie like to go to dinner with us?!" my dad called from outside the room.
"Um... No thanks. I think we just wanna stay here and rest. It was a long dive," I answered. I really don't want to go out tonight. I would rather just stay here and relax. Maybe go for a dip in the lake.
I did bring my swim suit. But I don't want to have it on in front of a whole bunch of people.
"Okay hun, see you two later. Expect us to be out late," he said.
"Alright. Have a good night," I called back.
I went over to the bed, and searched through my bag to find my bathing suit. The amount of things I brought was unnecessary. I didn't need to bring all this shampoo. I didn't need to bring skinny jeans when it is going to be in the eighties this weekend. At least I brought a few pairs of shorts, in case my dad draggs my somewhere with a lot of people I don't know.
"Bonnie! I'm gonna go for a swim. Meet me out there," I said. leaving the room in only my swim suit and shorts.
