9: You're nuts

The rain was getting heavier, Shuai couldn't bear to chase Wu out again, might as well let him sleep here for a night, so he could just go straight to work in the morning without traveling back and forth.

They two squeezed on a small single bed, without leaving any spaces in between, they could only place their hands on their stomachs. Shuai twisted his head to look at Wu. He was a totally different person now as compared to the first time he came, his facial features looked extra sharp in darkness, you could even see the ceiling reflected in that huge pair of eyes, which shows how clear they were.

'What date is it today?'

The question came out loud, breaking Shuai's train of thoughts.

'30th.'

Wu suddenly sat up, fished out his phone from his front pocket of his shirt and dialed Yue Yue's number. After a while, her tired voice could be heard.

'Hey? What are you doing?'

Wu said, 'Today is the 30th, our couple mobile plan has 877 minutes of free outgoing call available. I'll just leave my phone here, you can just sleep but I can't let it go waste.'

Endless cursing continuously traveled from the other side of the phone.

'Retard!'

Her friend woke up and asked, 'What's wrong?'

Yue Yue answered with a tired voice with a hint of annoyance, 'My ex, no one could top him, I swear. I told him to break up three times but he kept using the same old suicide method to try to get me back.'

Her friend asked, 'Is he the one who gave you the platinum necklace?'

'Fuck! Now you reminded me of it! He bought me a necklace, it was on my hands. But after I told him off, he wanted it back, which guy does that?'

'What?...Is he a man?'

'I didn't give up, I took back the necklace from him when he's hitting himself with the brick.'

'Of course, you have to! Can't let the necklace to go to a waste!'

'I'll sell it tomorrow.'

'....'

Can't listen to it further, Shuai hung up the phone call.

Wu mumbled to himself, 'Actually, she canceled the plan a long time ago, I just wanted to hear her again.'

Shuai said coldly, 'Now you've listened enough?'

'Yeah.' Wu's gaze was dull, 'Can I agree to break up now?'

'You should from the start!' Shuai blew up, fists punching the mattress, 'Didn't I tell you?! She didn't care about you! You're wasting bricks!' 

'It's just a few.'

Shuai was hyperventilating, sweating furiously. He scolded himself mentally too, it's not his business too, why is he so worked up? Wu doesn't even care himself.

'Shuai, now I think of it, you were right. I should've jumped off a river.'

Shuai laughed stiffly, 'Sure, I'll burn you some nuts.'

'Why?'

'You're nuts, do you know?'

Wu didn't reply. He felt a surge of coldness over him as if he was caught in the rain.

His phone rang again, Wu grabbed it like it was his last straw, he bawled out his eyes and stared at the caller ID. Too bad, it wasn't Yue Yue who called, but his supervisor instead.

'I just called you, why....why is your line always busy?' he sounded like he's drunk.

Wu said, 'My phone is broken, the reception is poor.'

'Come this instant, the machine has broken down, we need it tomorrow morning.'

Putting down his phone, Wu stood up and wore his shoes robotically.

Shuai sat up and stared at him, 'You're going at this hour? It's still raining outside. Your supervisor is a bastard, why didn't call a technician? Plus, your head is hurt, can you do any work?'

Wu has used to it anyways, he became his office's all-in-one technician, whether its lamp, computers, machines... You name it he fixes it. His department only has four people, he's the one doing chores, the other three just slacked. But they got higher pay than him, Wu still took pride in his job.

'Hey, you're really going?' Shuai followed him to the door.

'Your house is a bit chilly, I'm going out to warm up a bit.'
