The truck driver and I fought. "Get off of me, you bozo! You're drunk!" I yelled as I fought back. The driver punched and scratched me. Hermann, Severide, Cruz, and Voight tried getting him off of me, but he pushed them away. The next thing I know, the scumbag pulled a pocket knife from his belt and stabbed me in the left side of my stomach. I grabbed the knife and threw it far from him. "Voight! Boden! A little help here!" I yelled. They ran to subdue him and I scrambled away, holding my side. Jimmy and Sylvie ran to me and helped me up. "I'm fine. I'm alright. It's not that deep." I assured them. Sylvie lifted my shirt and inspected it. I winced. "You're right. Let's stitch you up, but we'll need to keep an eye on you." She said. "Okay." I replied. After stitching and bandaging me up, we went back to the station.
"Y'all want a pizza?" I asked when we were in the break room. They agreed and I ordered a real Chicago style pizza. After the pizza guy came and I paid the fee and he left, we ate and had a good time. Right after we ate, the alarm went off and we suited up. We responded to a one alarm house fire. Severide, Hermann, Cruz and I searched the house. "Fire Department! Call out!" Severide yelled. There was nothing. I yelled, "Fire Department! Call o-", then I felt a pain in the same side of my stomach and I winced. "You alright?" Hermann asked. "Yeah." I replied. We heard a voice and followed it. We opened the door to the room where the victim was calling out...flames and smoke flew out and we jumped back. Then we rushed to find the victim. "Over here!" He yelled. We found him and his family crouched in a closet. "We need to get y'all out of here!" I yelled as we helped and rushed them out of the house. When we got out and far away from the house, the pain in my side got worse. I gasped. "C'mon. We need to get you to Med!" Severide told me. He, Hermann, and Casey helped me into the truck and rushed me to Med.
As soon as we got to the emergency room entrance, Severide and Casey helped me out of the truck and into the hospital. "What happened?!" Halstead asked as he helped us get me into a triage room and onto the bed. By this point, I was in excruciating pain. Halstead called for a bag of Type A positive blood, which came and was hooked up easily. Halstead helped me take off my jacket and lifted my shirt. "Caroline, listen. We're going to have to take the bandages off, take the stitches out, and suck out the excess blood with a tube, okay?" Halstead explained. I nodded and he took off the bandages. "I'm not gonna lie. The next two steps are going to be very painful." He said as he rolled me over on my right side. Severide held my hand and Halstead began taking the stitches out. I yelled in pain as the last stitch was taken out. Then, I felt a tube going into the wound to suck out the excess blood. "Good job! Last thing, I'm going to glue the wound together, ok?." Halstead said. I replied, "Okay." . After gluing the wound, Halstead put a small bandage on it, rolled me onto my back, and started me on a morphine IV. "So the wound was that deep, after all?" I heard Sylvie ask. I looked and saw her and Jimmy standing in the room. "How long have y'all been standing there?" I asked. "A while." Jimmy said. I looked at Sylvie and assured her, "Yes, but you did what you had to do. It's okay." "Thanks." Sylvie replied. Then, Casey rolled Gabby and their baby into the room. We talked and caught up....until they, except for Gabby, had to go back to work...Gabby and her baby had to go back to their room.
