Dr. Halstead and Reese met us at the entrance and walked us to Sylvia's room. Mrs. Hermann and the kids sat in the waiting room. Tears welled up in my eyes as we walked into Sylvia's room. She was awake, but very tired. Jimmy and I walked to her side and I sat down. She told us a little bit of what happened, then she fell asleep. I looked at Dr. Halstead and he motioned Jimmy and I out into the hallway. We followed him while Reese stayed with Sylvia. Then, he spoke, "Sylvia has PTSD from the school fire." We were taken aback. We knew that she along with the other students and adults were moved temporarily to another school until theirs was rebuilt. Then, it dawned on me, not only the fire, but me getting injured and losing my leg. "Oh my god." I gasped, then said, "I-I think her PTSD was from her watching me get injured. Oh my god. My poor baby!" I burst into tears. I felt so guilty. Jimmy hugged me and I buried my head in his shoulder. "That's possible. We will keep her overnight for observation. I'm here and Reese is here if you guys would like to talk about this. If not, that's okay too." Halstead said. I hugged him and Jimmy shook his hand. I spent the night with Sylvia. She was okay.

The next day, Sylvia was discharged from the hospital. I asked Boden if I could take a couple of days off to take care of her and he approved. Sylvia was now on medication to lessen the PTSD symptoms and was prescribed a service dog, which we would get in two days. Two days later, Sylvia and I drove to the Chicago Dog Alliance to adopt her service dog, a yellow labrador named Molly. Once we signed the papers and everything, the owner of the company handed me Molly's vest, a bag of dog food and anything else a dog may need. Then, I dropped Sylvia and Molly off at school and made sure that Sylvia had everything that she and Molly needed, which she did. "Love you, Mom!" She told me. "I love you too, baby!" I replied as I blew her a kiss. I drove back to the house to take care of my three other kids, then I remembered that Mrs. Hermann took the twins to school and had the baby with her. I decided to take a shower and lay down afterwards. Two hours later, I woke up to a knock on my bedroom door. "One second, please!" I called. I found that I had fallen asleep in the shower. The water was off. I remembered that I turned it off. I carefully got out of the tub, dried off, quickly got dressed and ready, put my prosthetic leg on, brushed and put my hair in a ponytail, and walked out of the bathroom and opened my bedroom door. It was Mrs. Hermann. "Hi. I am so sorry. I fell asleep in the shower." I told her, laughing. "It's okay." She smiled and handed Kelly to me. "How did he do this morning?" I asked Mrs. Hermann. "He did really well. He ate his breakfast...two helpings..he was hungry." She replied. We both laughed. "What can I say? He has the same appetite as his daddy." I said. I looked at my watch, 3:30! "Let's go get the kids!" I said. We both laughed and talked as we walked to the car and secured the baby in his car seat. We hopped in and drove to each school, Sylvia and Molly first then the twins. After everyone was piled in, we drove through Chick fil A and then home.

Four days later, I decided to go back to work. I got ready, left Mrs. Hermann a note, and drove to work.
