The next day, Severide, Mouch, and I were released from Med. We each went to our homes and got ready for work. Once we were ready and just as we met up at the station, the alarm went off. We quickly suited up, grabbed our gear, and hopped in the truck. We responded to a house fire caused by arson. Once we hopped out and geared up, I asked Boden if PD was on their way and he said, "As we speak. You, Severide, and Mouch go with Casey! You guys be careful!" "We will!" I assured him as we ran into the house.  "Fire Department! Call out!" Casey yelled. We heard a groan and a small, but audible cry for help and followed it. We found two people, a man and a woman, lying on the living room floor. "Who did this?" I asked the woman as Severide and I picked her up and rushed her outside, Mouch and Casey, following with the man in their arms. As soon as we got outside and before the woman lost consciousness, she said, "Our neighbor.." she gave a short description of him before she lost consciousness. Gabby and Sylvie helped us put the woman on the stretcher, into the ambulance, and then they rushed to Med. I was shaking. "You alright?" Severide asked. "Why would someone decide to set their neighbor's house on fire? I pray whoever did this will serve life behind bars." I told him as we aimed the water cannons at the house. As soon as the fire was out, I stuck around to give Voight the description of the arsonist. I radioed Gabby to keep me updated on both victims and she said she would. "Are you going to be alright?" Voight asked. "Yes, eventually...when justice is served." I told him. He hugged me and assured me that there would be justice. Then, he drove me to and dropped me off at 51. Before he left, I asked him to run drug screenings on the perpetrator once he was caught. "Why?" He asked. "I just have a gut feeling." I told him. We waved goodbye and I walked back into the station. Jimmy was waiting for me in the vehicle bay. After I was done hanging up my suit and gear, we embraced each other. "Everything will be alright, baby. You are the strongest woman I know." He assured me. I looked up at him, smiled, and said, "Because I'm your wife." He smiled back, we kissed, then walked back into the station.

As I was taking a rest in the break room, my phone dinged. My heart skipped a beat as I saw the text, which was from Gabby. I sat up and read it,

"Dr. Halstead just informed me that the male victim has died and the female victim is in critical condition."

I looked up and saw her at the door. I put my phone back in my pocket. "This can't be true." I said in disbelief. Jimmy, Severide, and Boden walked in shortly. I looked at all four of them with tears in my eyes and asked Boden, "Please tell me that the arsonist has been caught. Please tell me if Voight told you." "He's in holding right now. Voight just called to inform me." Boden told me. Memories of my dad being injured in an arsonist's fire came flooding back. I remember how scared I was, but relieved when he woke up and was released. "Honey? You okay?" Jimmy asked me. "I'm fine. Thank you all. Just, please give me a moment." I said as I walked outside of the station to get fresh air. I bent down, rested my hands on my knees, and, just burst out in tears. After a moment, I stood up straight and put my hands on the back of my head and took deep breaths, trying to calm myself down. A minute later, I was calm enough to go back inside. I went back into the break room, grabbed a bottled water, and drank it. "Are you alright?" I heard Jimmy ask. "I am now. Just now, I was reminded that there still is grace. I don't know how, but there is." I told him. He hugged me and said, "You're right, sweetheart. You're absolutely right."
