2~ My Shot

(John's POV)

I woke up around 9:30 ish, I sat up and turned towards Alexander's side of the room.. He wasn't there, I glanced to the couch he was sitting on the couch reading a biography about one of our founding fathers Lin Manuel Miranda. I stood up and stretched, Alex looked up from his book.

"Good morning sleeping beauty."

"Morning" I replied. Wait, did he just call me sleeping beauty? Wow, as in beautiful? I'm sure it was just a joke he didn't mean it, right???

I remembered I told him I would show him around town today.

"Hey Alex?"

"Yeah" Alex replied

"Are you still up for our da-hang out session?" Oh God, I felt my face heat up.

"Sure!'' Alex responded, smiling widely.

I walked into the bathroom, took a quick shower and slipped on some clothes. I pulled my poof I call hair up in a pony tail.

I walked out of the bathroom to find Alexander already ready to go, I smiled "let's go"

"Where are we going?" Alex asked

"I was thinking we stop to get coffee first, then I'll show you around." I replied

"Ok!" Alex said cheerfully

We walked to the coffee shop showing him landmarks on the way, he adored the Lin Manuel Miranda and Anthony Ramos Statue, I did too after all I always secretly shipped them.

We arrived at the coffee shop within ten minutes.

"What do you want?" I asked Alex

"Um, a caramel mocha with extra whipped cream please." Alex replied.

"Alright" I nodded

I ordered our drinks and I turned my head to see Alex getting his wallet out.

"No Alex, I'll pay for it" I said sternly, stopping him.

"No, please john, I feel bad" Alex begged.

"Alex..." I warned

Alex looked up at me and I looked into his eyes forgetting what we were arguing about, god this boy makes me feel so helpless...

"John?" Alex waved his hand in front of me.

"Huh?" I snapped back to reality, jeez that was embarrassing I felt heat rush to my face. after several more minutes of arguing he finally agreed to let me pay for it.

"I'll pay next time" Alex said when we sat down at a table.

"Ok" I chuckled

I thought about some conversation starters I had no idea what to ask but I knew I wanted to learn more about him.

"So where are you from?" I asked

"Uh... I- I don't like to talk about it" Alex hesitated "sorry"

"Oh!" I said "I'm sorry, that's fine. Les change the subject"

He nodded

"What's your favorite animal?"

"Um, probably a lion I guess"
Alex asked now smiling a bit. "What about you?"

"TURTLES!" I almost screamed

"Why turtles?" Alex asked giggling because of my sudden reaction

"Because they are the cutest creature on this planet!" I replied

"Besides you" Alex mumbled under his breath.

I couldn't keep from smiling, I heard what he said, 'he might actually like me!' Well if he does I know one thing for sure, I am not throwing away my shot with him.
