"The blue one or the black one?" I asked, holding up the two sundresses in my hands.
"Definitely the blue one," Caitlin said, sitting on my bed and smiling up at me. I thought about it for a second and then decided to listen to her. I put the black one back in my closet and laid out the blue dress.
This is my second date with Barry. I know I said no commitments but the first date was nice. We talked and got to know each other, without spilling our secrets. But he did say that he admired me as a scientist when he didn't know me.
We went to dinner and then a walk around the park for our first date. It was nice. He even bought me a flower, which I thought was a little cliche, but he seemed excited about it, so I allowed it. This time we're going out to a nicer restaurant.
I hope he didn't get any more calls tonight. He got a couple of calls from CCPD, which interrupted our date some, but it was still fun. We didn't kiss after the first date, which was my doing.
"I can't believe you didn't kiss him on your last date." Caitlin sighed. I shook my head in the mirror and walked into my bathroom to change into the dress.
"Don't call it a date." I defended as I unbuttoned the white shirt I was wearing at S.T.A.R. labs.
"Why? You guys went to dinner. You had so much fun that you're going on a second one." She explained matter-of-factly. I smiled to myself as I adjusted the dress over my body. "What are you guys doing today?"
"I'm not sure... he said there was a surprise," I explained, fixing up my hair that I sort of did. I pulled some of it back and pinned it into a little bun. I also added a little bit more makeup than I normally would.
"I can't believe this is finally happening. For the past two months, we have all been trying to get you two together and now it's happening." She was speaking like she was in some sort of fairytale. I just chuckled and shook my head. Two months ago, I didn't like Barry because there was something off about him. Now I'm putting on a dress just because he said he liked them and getting ready to go on a date with him.
"Don't make it a bigger deal than it needs to be," I said, coming out of the bathroom. She looked up at me and gasped, smiling as she looked at me.
"You look beautiful." I chuckled again and walked to my purse.
"Let's not be dramatic." I finished putting on my shoes and I heard a knock at the door. Before I had time to react, Caitlin jumped up, already running out of my door.
"He's here." She cheered as she ran out of the door. I quickly ran after her, trying to stop her before she reached the door.
"Cait, wait!" I yelled, running down the steps, but I wasn't fast enough. She beat me to the door and she was already scolding him by the time I got to the bottom of the steps.
"If she comes home and tells me that it was a terrible date, I will tear you apart--" I grabbed the door and pulled it away from her, giving her a stern look. She was acting like some overprotective father making sure my boyfriend knew the rules... even though Barry's not my boyfriend.
"Caitlin, I'm sure he's more scared of me than you." I interrupted, making her look over at me. She chuckled and I could see Barry shift next to me.
"Good point..." She turned back to Barry and sighed. "She better be home by midnight." I rolled my eyes and walked out of my house and joined Barry's side.
"Goodbye, Caitlin." I sang. She smiled and grabbed the door.
"See ya, Cait," Barry said, placing his hand on my lower back. There were those chills that I missed when he knocked on the door. I was nervous now. She eyed both of us before slowly closing the door and we both turned and started to walk away. "I have never seen Caitlin like that." He chuckled while guiding me away.
